Who Needs a CEO? I Choose Stardom
Chapter 221 - 182: Publication Plan and Might as Well Herd the Whole Flock (2)
After years of dealing with his wife’s cancer, the once-profligate young heir had learned to pinch every penny.
If you were to ask Ni Bingyan what she was best at doing online, it would undoubtedly be searching for all sorts of reliable courses.
Seeing Wang Biao try to dissuade her, Ni Bingyan quickly waved her hand. "It’s fine, Brother Biao. This one isn’t expensive. Compared to the free ones online, its curriculum is much more comprehensive. Most importantly, I use this app all the time, so I’m familiar with how it works. It has one-on-one instruction from expert teachers and even has quizzes after the lessons to test how well you’ve grasped the material. It’s awesome!"
’Free study materials are tempting, but there are absolutely no support services to speak of, are there?’
’One look and you can tell Brother Biao doesn’t study much. He doesn’t understand that free things are often the most expensive.’
"Thanks, Brother Biao. I know you mean well, but I still have so much to learn! Getting the most done in the shortest amount of time is the best way to get ahead!"
As expected of a time management master!
She made a lot of sense!
Her time was indeed very valuable.
"You’re right, I wasn’t thinking it through."
Seeing that she had already successfully placed the order, Wang Biao didn’t say any more. Instead, before she could start the first lesson, he spoke up.
"I have a half-baked idea I wanted to run by you. We can ask Sister Wei later if it’s feasible, but what do you think?"
Ni Bingyan paused and let her phone screen go dark. She looked at Brother Biao seriously. "What’s the idea? Tell me."
"I remember you really enjoy writing. You’ve already filled two whole notebooks. Have you ever thought about organizing your writings, compiling them, and publishing a book?"
"Publish a book?"
Hearing this, Ni Bingyan’s eyes widened instantly!
’How could I possibly do something like write a book?’
’I don’t even dare to think about it!’
’If I really published one, people would laugh me to death!’
"Writing a book is different from other things. I’m just not cut out for it! My writing isn’t good enough. I’d just be making a fool of myself."
Ni Bingyan quickly waved her hands, refusing.
"I just took a look. The quality of your writing is very high. It flows smoothly, your emotions are sincere, and your language is beautiful. That saying, ’True learning gives one an aura of elegance,’ is really true. You’re very talented; you shouldn’t sell yourself short."
Wang Biao sighed and gave a helpless smile.
’She’s great in every way, just not confident enough.’
She usually wrote these things for her own amusement and had never shown them to anyone, so Ni Bingyan just assumed he was flattering her.
"I’m still a long way off! Writing books and all that... I’d just be a laughingstock!"
"Lots of celebrities have published books, so of course you can too! Some of them who aren’t as cultured even hire ghostwriters for their autobiographies! You write everything yourself. Your fans would definitely rush to buy it. As long as you’re interested, I can absolutely negotiate the best royalty deal for you!"
"Isn’t that just a cash grab from my fans?"
Ni Bingyan still shook her head.
"How is that a cash grab?! They’d be thrilled if their favorite celebrity published more books! You’re not publishing a book to spread knowledge; you’re just sharing your reflections on life. People who want to read it will buy it, and for those who don’t, you can’t force them to spend their money anyway!"
His words made a lot of sense, and Ni Bingyan was starting to feel tempted. But she still had some reservations. "I’ve written down a lot of small, personal things from my life. If it were published and people saw it, how embarrassing would that be!"
"Oh, you silly goose. If there’s anything private, you just don’t include it, right?"
"Uh, let me think about it first!"
Seeing that she still hadn’t agreed, Wang Biao came up with a new reason. "After it’s published, you can even auction off the original manuscript and donate the proceeds to charity. You’d be killing several birds with one stone!"
"Alright, alright, I’m going to read my script now! We can talk about this later!"
She closed her notebook, walked into the bedroom in a few steps, and shut the door. Wang Biao and Duanmu Li exchanged a look and sighed helplessly.
"I’m going to step out and make a call. When it’s almost time for her scene, remember to give her a heads-up."
Knowing he was going to call Wei Shuojie, Duanmu Li nodded lightly.
In her opinion, it was a great idea. If handled well, it could not only attract more fans but also earn her a good reputation.
That afternoon, Ni Bingyan was somewhat distracted, with the matter still weighing on her mind.
Fortunately, they were filming the part where Wen Qing was starting to develop feelings for Gu Feng and was always getting distracted at work. Her state of mind actually made her performance more realistic.
After wrapping up filming in the evening, Ni Bingyan walked her dog, then returned to her trailer to take a shower.
When she came out of the shower, Wang Biao had already gone to the hotel with the rest of the crew, and the cook had left for the day. After Ni Bingyan and Duanmu Li had dinner, one cleared the dishes while the other boiled water for a foot soak and fed the dog.
Once everything was tidied up, Duanmu Li came out from her shower, said she still had a study video to finish, and went to the secondary bedroom at the front of the trailer. As usual, Ni Bingyan took out her Xuan paper, brush, and inkstone, and began to grind the ink as she gathered her thoughts.
