Chapter 1187 – Delta Accel Synchro!

  • Next Chapter

"The ultimate form of Synchro, huh?"

Kira smiled, a bit excited himself.

At last, it's coming.

Legendary Mirror-Like Stillness of Heart. Ultimate Synchro. Delta Accel Synchro—a path originally pioneered by Yusei in the pre-Z-ONE-altered timeline, later taught to Yusei by Antinomy, leading him to the ultimate "Limit Over Accel Synchro" in the final showdown.

Kira always wondered—is "Accel Synchro" really impossible without a motorcycle?

In the animation, all key duels used Riding Duels, never standing duels. Was riding a Duel Runner really required?

If so, what if a Synchro Duelist from this dimension faced a duelist from another without Duel Runners? Wouldn't that be a huge disadvantage?

Could someone do "Accel Synchro" by just sprinting instead…?

Theoretically, the Duel Runner is just an acceleration tool; the key is the perpetual engine inside it releasing Yusei Particles. So, if mini-perpetual engines were loaded into duel disks, could a duelist do an Accel Synchro on foot?

But that would make them the Flash…

Kira stifled a laugh.

Nevermind—think about that later. For now, just observe Delta Accel Synchro in real battle, record the data, and maybe develop it further someday.

Antinomy: "Next, from my hand—Special Summon 'T.G. Drill Fish!'"

[T.G. Drill Fish, ATK 100]

"If my field contains only T.G. monsters, Drill Fish can be Special Summoned from my hand," Antinomy said.

"A Level 1 Tuner—'T.G. Gear Zombie!'

A Level 1—'T.G. Drill Fish!'

Tune!"

[1 + 1 = 2]

"Limiter Release, Level 2! Open tuner sync! Navigation system—clear!"

Antinomy raised his arm high.

"Go! Synchro Summon! COME ON—

—T.G. Recipro Dragonfly!"

[T.G. Recipro Dragonfly, ATK 300]

Kira: "Two regular Synchros. One Synchro Tuner. All set—this is getting interesting."

Antinomy: "Heart of Mirror-Like Stillness, at its peak!"

Despite the "stillness," his Duel Runner burned with a red light, looking like it was on fire as it shot forward.

"Limiter Release—MAX! All tuning systems clear! Infinite power, shatter space and time, unlock the unknown world!"

His Duel Runner reached maximum roar. Antinomy looked as if he were burning up.

"GO! Trident Acceleration! COME ON—

—T.G. Halberd Cannon!!!"

His Duel Runner vanished from the track in a streak of light. A galactic data stream exploded into a blue-silver vortex. The three T.G. bodies spun through the cosmos like burning meteors.

From the torn dimensional rift came the roar of engines—a crimson, mechanical god crashed from the sky, its landing shockwave forming a spiral vortex.

Sleek, angular armor traced with glowing energy, visors sparking with quantum blue. Gold and black metal layered in high-tech patterns; boosters on each arm shot flames. Its massive halberd-gun fused alloy and photon energy, leaving a spiral trail of light whenever it swung.

Delta Accel Synchro Summon—Tech Genus Halberd Cannon!

[T.G. Halberd Cannon, ATK 4000]

"Kira! This is my full strength—T.G. Halberd Cannon!"

Antinomy roared.

"And now:

Speed Spell—Final Attack!"

A Speed Spell rose behind, its silvery energy swirling around Halberd Cannon.

"Final Attack can only be activated with 8 or more Speed Counters!" Antinomy barked. "Until the end of this turn, one monster's attack doubles!

Halberd Cannon, power up!"

[Halberd Cannon, 4000 → 8000 ATK]

"Eight thousand ATK?!" Kira whistled. "That's… terrifying."

Uria let out a pitiful cry as if sharing his opinion.

Eight thousand—who could possibly beat this?

Kira realized: just as he theorized, Antinomy's move with D.D. Crow last turn had preserved an extra Speed Counter—if not, his current Speed Counter would've been 7, unable to play Final Attack.

"Go, all my strength!"

Antinomy commanded, "Halberd Cannon, attack 'Uria, Lord of Searing Flames!'"

Halberd Cannon's arms exploded with vapor, energy conduits shining. Photon halberd blazed, slashing through Uria's fire—a spiral slash cleaved Uria's huge body in two, the red dragon falling, burning...

But all 3,000 damage that should have ended the duel was blocked by "Spirit Barrier," causing no harm to Kira's Duel Runner.

"End Phase—Halberd Cannon's ATK returns to normal."

[Halberd Cannon: 8000 → 4000]

"Turn end."

Antinomy let out another long breath.

He'd done it—defeated the legendary Sacred Beast.

And with Halberd Cannon on the field, Antinomy's confidence soared—

Even against a Duel King of Kira's caliber, victory seemed assured.

Anime Halberd Cannon had terrifying suppression, far beyond its card game counterpart—it could negate any monster summon, flip, special, or even summons triggered by effects.

The card version can only negate once per turn, but the anime version has no limit—other than the number of monsters used for its Synchro Summon. Since Antinomy used three monsters, he can negate and destroy three monster summons this duel.

With Halberd Cannon out and three negations left, can Kira even turn this duel around?

"My turn. Draw."

Kira's eyes glinted.

"I activate Spell Card 'Monster Recovery.'

Return all cards in my hand and field to the deck, reshuffle, then draw five cards."

All Kira's cards dissolved into golden light and returned to his deck. Five new cards shot back to his hand.

"Halberd Cannon, Delta Accel Synchro, your power is incredible. But…"

He smiled ever so slightly.

"You still haven't truly understood the power of a Sacred Beast."

Antinomy's eyes widened again.

What? Could Uria have an ability he didn't know about?

"Uria's final effect," Kira explained. "While in the graveyard, by sending a Trap Card from my hand to the grave, I can Special Summon Uria from the grave."

Antinomy frowned. "So it even has a self-revival ability…"

This did indeed make Uria even more formidable—truly a monster of legend.

But—

As Kira sent a card to the grave, lava erupted from the ground—Uria looked poised to rise.

Antinomy shouted, "At this moment! Halberd Cannon's effect!

Negate and destroy the monster's summon!"

A swing of Halberd Cannon's weapon—the overbearing energy rippled through the field, suppressing Uria's attempted resurrection.

"So strong…

Even a Sacred Beast's summon can be negated."

Kira smiled.

"But I activate Uria's effect again: send another Trap from my hand, Special Summon Uria from the grave."

Antinomy: "!!!"

He realized the problem at last.

Uria's revival has no 'once per turn' limit—

Halberd Cannon also has no once per turn, but the number of negates is capped by the number of Synchro Materials used—here, three.

Given Kira's hand size, and a deck built around Uria, trap-heavy by nature, he likely has more than enough ammo for more revivals.

Antinomy had no better choice: "Second time—Halberd Cannon negates Uria!"

So far, to revive Uria, Kira had already discarded two traps. If Uria succeeded, its ATK would reach 7000 instantly—Halberd Cannon, back at 4000, would lose the battle outright.

Kira: "Again, I use Uria's effect—discard a trap, revive Uria."

Antinomy: "Third time—Halberd Cannon negates the revive!"

That was his last shot. All three negations, spent.

Kira, as expected, played another trap from his hand.

"Once again discard a Trap Card—activate Uria's effect.

Uria returns from the grave!"

Antinomy: "…"

He was out of moves.

Halberd Cannon's full force was his limit, and still, not enough. He gave everything—now, he had nothing left.

Three consecutive negations, but all just setup for the final, even greater explosion.

The undying crimson dragon broke free of the molten earth, roaring defiantly!

[Uria, ATK = 9000]

Nine thousand attack!

"Battle." Kira's voice was unmoved. "Uria, attack Halberd Cannon!"

The dimension reverberated with a deafening explosion. Uria's jaws poured forth molten lava, white-hot fire twisting the space in its path.

Halberd Cannon's armor flared an incandescent red, its layered shields shattering like glass under the fiery torrent. The mechanical giant's body melted away, its boosters dripping like molten iron, its core pierced by a blast of white-hot flame. Millions of data photons spun out in a sparkling shower.

[Antinomy LP: 1500 → 0]
