Who Designed This Underworld Dungeon?
Chapter 1780 - 1048: Journey with Artorias_2
This batch of wolf rings was previously stocked for the campaign against the Four Kings of Little Londo.
"We should be able to hear Shif’s cries for help ahead." Tami said based on memory.
The wolfmen charged into the surging tide of humanity, tearing open a path with swords and claws, allowing the group to progress smoothly.
However, when they reached the anticipated location, Tami heard no wolf howls, only the muffled sounds of the Abyss slowly writhing in the silence.
"Huh?"
They reached the place where Shif was supposed to be hiding, but it was empty, without even the Barrier Shield.
At this point, it was evident to anyone that the course of events had changed.
Shif wasn’t hiding here heavily wounded, and the shattered Barrier Shield was absent, so where could they be?
"In the end, neither the Silver Necklace nor the Barrier Shield, these tools to resist the Abyss, ended up in our hands."
From a result-oriented perspective, it seems this path has blown up, as they’ve obtained no items to resist the Abyss along the way.
But Luluwo would say to believe in her at this moment, for belief needs no reason.
She believed that after this ordeal, she wouldn’t return empty-handed, surely she would gain something, right?
The group then started to move in the direction of the Master of the Abyss.
What to do when you can’t see the road in pitch darkness? Just head to the coldest and most malicious place.
Before long, they successfully arrived at the entrance to the nest of the Master of the Abyss.
Although it was the second time coming here, Tami still felt a strong sense of oppression, even more tense than the first time.
Others might be nervous about the unknown Master of the Abyss behind the door, but his tension was purely knowing how powerful Manus was.
Unless necessary, he really didn’t want to experience that punch again that almost turned him into blood mist.
"Not showing up, huh."
Luluwo looked around, focusing on the ground, but there was no golden glow—the summoning symbols of the residual shadow characters she hoped for.
No Artorias appearing as an ally here, not even a Heath for the sake of appearance, huh?
If no one comes to help, it makes my previous series of actions seem so awkward!
"No choice then... Latan’s Rune."
In the midst of awkwardness, Luluwo finally chose to give herself a buff.
She felt there should still be a turnaround, maybe she’d see Artorias’s summoning symbol within the battlefield against the Master of the Abyss?
Surely my previous actions didn’t break this path directly, right?
The team exchanged glances, sensing a hint of awkwardness in the air, but also said, "Latan’s Rune."
A series of enhancing glows flashed through, and Luluwo was the first to step into the nest.
The fog gate, interwoven with the Abyss, sealed their retreat behind them, and the dense darkness began to spread before them, heavy footsteps echoed from ahead.
In the darkness, several scarlet eyes appeared, embedded within the hardened crown of the Master of the Abyss, their red glow terrifyingly prominent in the darkness.
Even though the body hadn’t fully emerged from the darkness, the initial momentum was enough to showcase its power; if a Boss Monster had traits, the trait would certainly be its oppressive presence.
The normal process should be the Boss Monster appearing, BGM playing, adventurers beginning the battle, almost like a ritual.
But here stands the Fran Guard.
"Die, Manus!"
Dal shouted furiously at this moment, the boiling wolf blood inside him causing his hair to flow like it’s burning, and the three wolfmen surrounding him instantly turned white, visually appearing as if engulfed in white flames.
First, use enhancing effects to improve performance, then burn wolf blood to boost basic physical attributes, and finally activate the King’s Souls of the Little Rondo Four Kings, Tomb King Nite, Chaos Breeding Ground, and White Dragon Hiss all at once, raising this body’s attributes to their peak!
This is the basic skillset a seasoned Sain Dungeon adventurer should possess for utilizing enhancement effects.
Dal, with momentum rising to suppressive levels, leaped towards the Master of the Abyss, Manus, wielding an Artorias Greatsword in one hand and a Fran Greatsword in the other, smashing towards the enemy in a wolf jump pose!
He seemed to have voluntarily jumped into the darkness, his figure instantly buried by the still-dissipating gloom.
But the next moment, a "boom" resounded, a fierce reaction from his weapon clashing with Manus.
The shock wave from this attack rapidly spread outward, soon lit by the crimson chaos flames from the King’s Souls!
And the black within those flames naturally came from Tomb King Nite’s Death Miasma, its dark effect contrasting with the Abyss.
Adding to it the basic stat boosts from the other two King’s Souls, Dal’s combat strength was now unimaginably terrifying!
Luluwo watched enviously, muttering to herself, "Back when I had the King’s Souls..."
It was as if she couldn’t obtain new King’s Souls, though the bearers were just in the Sain Dungeon, ready for taking anytime.
Because she couldn’t defeat them now, she couldn’t defeat the bearers of the King’s Souls.
Even theoretically the weakest Four Kings of Little Rondo couldn’t be beaten, not because Luluwo’s level had dropped.
But inexplicably, whenever she participated in campaigns against the King’s Soul bearers, the enemies displayed previously unseen high intensity!
Conservatively estimating, they were five times stronger than when fought by ordinary people!
Luluwo couldn’t comprehend what was going on, nor find any reason for it, feeling only bad luck, and thinking to level up first then find other ways to break through.
If the King’s Soul bearers she encountered continued to hold such measureless power, she’d struggle to complete even a single Fire Transmission.
In that case, her adventure career would be a complete failure.
"Boom—"
Suddenly, a loud noise, darkness receded, the flame-enshrouded Dal jumped back from the blackness, his sword inserted into the ground for stabilization, and shouted without turning back: "Scatter!"
Manus’s thunderous footsteps followed immediately, the vast Master of the Abyss emerged from the darkness, fury driving its fist towards Dal.
Keen observers quickly noticed, Dal bore signs of Abyssal corruption, while Manus’s crown had a sword-slashed inch-width scar.
Good, breaking defense is enough!
Surely fighting monsters like the Master of the Abyss requires brute force!
Seeing Dal about to engage Manus for the second time, he whistled to signal for others to help.
"Ahoo!"
The wolf howl signaled, here come his wolfmen to assist!
Wait, that’s odd; my wolfmen don’t howl like that.
Dal truly wanted to turn around to see who was howling, but then he heard others shout: "Shif is here!"
Shif? What can he—
"Boom!!!"
A deafening blast exploded before Dal, reflexively retreating, then looking up again.
His eyes sparkled with astonishment.
"He’s really here..."
In front of him appeared Artorias’s back!
The opponent wielded the Barrier Shield, blocking the Master of the Abyss’s strike!
"I knew I wasn’t wrong!"
Luluwo held her head high, feeling triumphant enough for a small fist clench.
