Who Designed This Underworld Dungeon?
Chapter 1770 - 1043: Demon Prince! (Part 2)
The numerous areas of the past that appeared at the gathering place didn’t touch Leon at all, but now, after seeing the ruins of the first Fire Transmission Ceremony clearly, he finally had a sense of the passage of time.
Having once defeated the King’s Soul bearer, he went to the Fire Transmission Ceremony seeking Flament to reach the Initial Firestove for transmission. Now, in the era of flame extinguishing, he was here to crusade against the last offspring of the Chaos Breeding Ground. On reflection, it was somewhat inexplicably emotional.
However, the Demon Prince wouldn’t leave time for sentiment.
With a wild howl, it flapped its wings, soaring into the sky. Two massive Chaos Fireballs appeared in its claws, which it hurled towards Leon and Gael with a flick of its wrist.
The two rolled towards different directions to dodge, mistakenly judging the power of this Fireball. Although similar in specifications to the previous fireball, its explosive range had suddenly expanded nearly twice, and Gael and Leon were instantly affected by the shock, both falling to the ground.
At the same time, the Demon Prince glided towards them, its sharp claws sparking chaos fire along the ground. Reaching Gael, it lifted its claw, and immediately a pillar of fire erupted from the earth, propelling the old man skyward, where he hovered for quite a while.
Its dive was so fierce that it crashed into the mountain wall, enough to make even a Bomb Dragon’s head buzz. Yet, the Demon Prince crazily turned around and clawed at Leon, each swipe breaking the ruins of the Fire Transmission Ceremony site into pieces.
From Leon’s view, it was clear that the Demon Prince had inherited not only the attributes of the Bottom of the Cave Demon and the Wounded Demon but had multiplied them!
Facing such endless claw attacks, he didn’t dare to withstand them directly, even with a Fingerprint Stone Shield.
The Demon Prince did not give him the chance to increase the distance.
Leon turned and ran less than ten steps before the intense heat was upon his back.
It was the heat wave brought on by the Demon Prince’s sprint!
The demon’s body, burned red by Chaos Flame, rushed towards him faster than its previous dive. He couldn’t turn around in time and could only fall sideways; the Demon Prince’s claw brushed past his back the moment he dove, leaving a claw mark from shoulder to waist, scorched black.
Rolling on the ground, the burned flesh on his shoulder didn’t even register pain. As soon as he crawled up, the Demon Prince had turned, opening its great mouth, almost spraying a Chaos Fireball at point-blank range!
Leon could only raise his Half-leaf Greatsword in front to unleash Fighting Qi for defense. At the moment of impact, the Fighting Qi broke almost instantly, and the scorching blast burned his exposed hands painfully. Using the force of the flame impact, he jumped back, but the Demon Prince’s next claw hit soon after.
The claw, accompanied by Chaos Flame, smashed down from above his head. He blocked with the greatsword, immersing deeply, his knee involuntarily bending downward from the force, which was more than double the strength of the Wounded Demon, even shattering a few stone slabs underfoot from the impact.
He held on under the claw for several seconds before being flipped sideways by its tail’s hit, his back colliding with the rubble of a collapsed wall, debris showering down from above.
Damn it, mad dog, thoroughly mad dog!
This creature’s strength was nothing like before!
Leon wiped the dirt off his face, nearly cursing, rapidly replaying the few exchanges just now in his mind.
He might bravely meet the claws of the Wounded Demon, dodge the Bottom of the Cave Demon’s fireballs. But now, this damned Demon Prince had inherited both traits and multiplied them severalfold, with an expanded flame spray range, leaving no breathing room for adventurers.
The Demon Prince rushed over again, truly leaving no time for Leon even to think.
Its burning wings dragged on the ground, leaving two black, flaming trails. Continuous pillars of fire erupted along the way, the sound and light effects were quite intimidating.
The Demon Prince clawed towards Leon’s side, aiming at his abdomen. Leon activated Hound Step, retreating in a puff of smoke, but the Demon Prince’s tail swept towards the direction he dodged.
Unavoidably hit mid-air, he spun and landed on the ground, the Half-leaf Greatsword slipping from his hand, piercing into the rubble dozens of meters away, the blade still faintly trembling.
Dropping a weapon was a huge mistake!
He supported himself to get up, but the Demon Prince’s huge foot had already stomped down.
He threw himself forward into another roll as the Demon Prince pursued him like stomping a mouse, each footfall causing the ground to quake.
Suddenly looking up at the Demon Prince, he saw it had had enough fun, lowering its head, its burning maw opening right at him, a fire brightening deep in its throat, rapidly expanding.
Then Gael collided from the side.
The scarred old man swung his great sword at the Demon Prince’s head side, although not powerful, the angle was extremely tricky, filled with his sacrificial strike’s determination. Hence, a crisp "crack" sounded, snapping the horn at its root!
The severed horn flew away, enveloped in still burning Chaos Flame, clattering down in the rubble!
Part destroyed!
The Demon Prince’s entire head was knocked sideways from the impact, the flame about to erupt from its throat leaked from its mouth corner, suddenly burning the nearby wall to redness.
It let out a hoarse wail, the first real pain it felt since its revival, its body momentarily rigid.
"Good chance!"
Leon grabbed the ground-pierced Half-leaf Greatsword, springing up with all remaining strength to charge at the Demon Prince, raising the blade above his head, slashing down with full force towards the still erect head.
"Bang!"
Sparks flew, the strike felt like slicing into pure iron!
Infinite Combo activated, the Half-leaf Greatsword’s edge continuously inflicted damage on the Demon Prince’s head, the whole battleground resonating with the sound of iron striking.
Leon panted as he hammered away, unsure how many blows he had delivered within the brief rigidity of his adversary.
But until the Demon Prince roared again upon standing upright, only then did he dare to retreat and examine how much damage he had dealt.
"..."
Just a glance made Leon fall into silence.
The Demon Prince’s head was covered in scars, his slashing was effective.
But those scars already appeared to be healing, merely leaving marks!
The Demon Prince’s Life Force, under his full force attack... weakened a bit.
A bit!
It was as if the Demon Prince stole the King’s Soul from the Chaos Breeding Ground, its Life Force thriving unlike a Chaos Demon.
The Demon Prince arose again, while Leon still retained some Combat Power, but on the other hand, Gael was in poor condition.
Both now faced the end of the road, perhaps not utterly desperate, but against the Demon Prince, the chance of victory was near-zero.
Leon thought, it would require assembling a whole Crusade Team with adventurers of equal strength, to securely defeat the Demon Prince.
As for now...
"Ahhhh!"
Leon charged towards the Demon Prince with Lion Slash posture, the execution of the Combat Skill embodying elements of Gael’s Sacrificial Strike.
The Demon Prince lifted its head to confront Leon, suddenly ejecting dazzling white laser from its burning maw unlike the flame.
"Boom!"
The laser broke through the earth, reaching the Skyrim of this gathering site, the attack range had long exceeded the battlefield’s limits.
Subsequently, the sounds of combat finally fell silent in this battleground.
