Who Designed This Underworld Dungeon?
Chapter 1752 - 1034: Into the Abyss 2.0_2
It’s like a dream, reminiscent of the early days when we first explored the Sain Dungeon.
The only consolation is that some people in this team are carrying Wolf Rings produced by the Wolf Knight from the Painting World; even in Ulashiro, the ring still provides resistance against the Abyss.
Just like when we took down the Four Kings of Little Longdu, the Wolf Ring provides a temporary protective shield to help them resist the Abyss’ corruption, similar to a cheaper version of the Silver Necklace.
If they can’t get the Silver Necklace, then each of them at least needs to carry ten Wolf Rings to ensure exploration efficiency.
Are you kidding me, where can we find so many Wolf Rings!
"Do we really still have a way to get the Silver Necklace..."
As they walked, even those in the team began to doubt their current goal.
"Should we just go directly to the Master of the Abyss? I’m feeling so tired, the kind of exhaustion that drains the mind and body..."
Returning from death so many times does put a certain amount of stress on the mind, but a lot of fatigue comes from repeated trial and error.
"You do feel exhausted." Tami nodded in agreement.
"Then why don’t we just head to the Master of the Abyss directly."
Chaos suggested at this point, "While everyone isn’t completely exhausted yet, I think in this situation, it’s best to call for the leader?"
Indeed, when faced with unsolvable problems in the Sain Dungeon, the members of the Skyrim Strategy Group have a habit—
Quick, call upon LuLuwo Ancestor!
After pondering for a moment, they made a choice.
While everyone still had a bit of energy, they quickly went to meet this boss at the level’s end.
At the moment of deciding to head deeper into Ulashiro, Maru frequently looked back to the direction they initially came from and said:
"You know, right now I feel an urge to rush back, grab the Silver Necklace, and dive straight into the Master of the Abyss. Do you believe me?"
"Don’t do anything foolish..."
If they end up fighting both Artorias and the Master of the Abyss at the same time, what should they do? It would truly be a hellish drawing.
"Forget it, I won’t mess around," Maru shook her head and abandoned this dangerous idea. "After finishing this job, I’m heading home, and the boss probably should too."
The deeper they went, the more severe the Abyssal corruption in Ulashiro became. In other words, as long as they followed the increasingly heavy traces of the Abyss, they would eventually find the Master of the Abyss.
The adventurers did just that, and it proved to be successful.
On the opposite end of the Urasil Spirit Temple, the Abyss had already overflowed. Purple-black mud squirmed all around, its suffocating smell lingering, literally writing "No Trespassing" in the air.
Maru climbed a nearly collapsing tower and looked over at the area most heavily corrupted by the Abyss, shouting to the people below:
"Over there, there’s a big hole!"
A glaring dark hole appeared where the Abyss was thickest.
Just like the Abyss in the Little Longde Ruins, where a hole in the ground spewed out the Abyss’ mud, what looked different here...
The pit appearing in Ulashiro was many times larger than the one in the Little Longde Ruins.
From Maru’s vantage point, it resembled a giant mouth open in the earth, drooling, digesting everything it touched.
"I really don’t want to get close to this thing..."
Having adventured for years in the Sain Dungeon, she had adapted to harsh environments to a significant degree, but seeing this black hole reminded her of the feeling when she first saw Fran Fort, giving her goosebumps.
Below was a true forbidden zone for life.
The Four Kings of Little Longdu were no match for this!
The thought that they would soon have to willingly jump inside made her goosebumps persist.
"Should we go down?" Maru’s tone carried a hint of uncertainty.
"We’ll go down." Tami knew she couldn’t show fear, forcing confidence into her voice.
The people activated the blessing power of their Wolf Rings, and after casting a series of flight magic attributes on themselves.
"You jump, I jump too."
Everyone set off for the Abyss one by one.
As soon as they jumped into this black hole, it was as if all light was stripped away from them; everything went pitch black, with only the receding light above symbolizing their rapid descent.
The sensation was similar to falling into the Abyss in the Little Longde Ruins, except it was much colder here.
When fear reaches a certain level, it can transform into other emotions.
In this moment, the group became excited.
"I can feel my heart racing, I am anticipating this adventure!" Chaos suddenly said, brimming with excitement.
"Calm down!" Tami immediately threw a calming scroll toward the person.
"Boom! Boom! Boom!"
After an unknown amount of time, they finally felt the sensation of touching the ground, creating a peculiar noise upon landing.
Despite falling for an indeterminate amount of time, they felt no impact upon landing, as if all force had disappeared in that instant.
Alongside the feeling of touching ground came the nauseating touch of Abyssal mud. After casting light spells learned from Elizabeth, the Abyss suddenly brightened, allowing them to see their surroundings.
This was a vast, uneven underground space, a typical underground landscape, yet the pervasive presence of the Abyss across the ground instantly made it feel unique.
The mud engulfed their shoes, while the writhing black mud exerted a pulling force against them, hindering their movement.
The Wolf Ring’s blessing became effective at that moment, with gentle light dispersing the Abyss gathered around the adventurers’ feet, allowing them to move normally temporarily.
However, this blessing was ultimately time-limited, so they had to hurry.
"I thought we would immediately battle the Master of the Abyss upon jumping down; that’s what happened with the Four Kings of Little Longdu."
"Doesn’t this highlight how the Master of the Abyss is distinct?"
No longer daring to delay, upon landing, they moved forward to explore in any direction, the first and foremost task was to keep moving forward.
They tossed the light-permeated balls created by their light spells in all directions to illuminate the Abyss, with the appearance of light bringing a certain degree of safety.
And unveiling the enemies hidden deep within.
"Look over there, what’s that?"
Everyone looked in the direction Maru gestured and asked in confusion: "Humanity?"
When light illuminated the Abyss, what was revealed within the light’s range were... masses of humanity about the size of an adult?
These were the black humanoids that adventurers sometimes acquired after killing monsters.
None had expected to see humanity grow so large one day; something about it looked...
"Gross."
Tiny things enlarged always seem to give an eerie shock, and it was at this moment, humanity swarmed towards them.
The once harmless-looking humanity, when enlarged and clustered, suddenly caused the uncanny valley effect, evoking goosebumps.
"Attack!"
The adventurers aggressively cast magic at these unexpected foes, not wanting close combat.
The amount of humanity was so overwhelming, with their shadows in every illuminated spot, it was uncertain if they could be cleared out. Tami and the team could only run while attacking, cautiously watching out for humanity emerging from the darkness.
"ooo....."
As they ran some distance away.
A mournful yet weak howl of a wolf entered their ears once more.
