Chapter 161 - Isaac's Courage.
The following day.
*Munch*
A white-haired young man was munching on a sandwich while watching a TV not far from him. There were three other figures sitting in the living room and watching the TV.,
They were Alice, Isabella, and Mark.
The TV was showing a popular kids' show, which was about a green-skinned alien who was traveling around the universe in hopes of finding other aliens like him.
So far, he is the only green-skinned creature, and it seems that his race has gone extinct, but he doesn't want to believe it and started his journey around the universe.
Mark was watching the screen with great intensity while Isabella was reading a newspaper.
Alice was pouting while taking glimpses at Isaac every now and then.
Isaac was eating the sandwich while looking at the TV without changing expressions.
Soon, footsteps appeared on the stairs, and once the footsteps reached the bottom of the stairs, the identity of the owner of the footsteps was revealed.
Maxwell entered the living room with a business suit. His brown hair was nicely styled in a slick haircut, and a stack of papers was in his hands, which he was reading without looking ahead of him.
''Are you guys ready?'' Maxwell asked, but still, his eyes didn't leave the papers as he continued, ''If you are ready, wait in the car...'' With those words, he went towards the kitchen.
''Alright.'' Isabella closed the newspaper and ruffled Mark's hair, which earned a pout from him, ''Mark, get dressed.''
''Sigh... Fineee...'' Mark with irritated look left the living room, straight towards the hangers and shoe rack.
''Alice.'' Isabella said with a stern look, ''Go get ready.''
''Hmph!'' Alice stood up and stomped out of the living room, leaving only Isaac and Isabella behind.
''Isaac, we didn't see you yesterday, but I wanted to ask about something...'' Isabella moved from another couch to the one Isaac was sitting on and sat next to him.
''Hmm?'' Isaac turned his head and finished his sandwich.
''Ah, it's nothing important...'' Isabella scratched her cheek and debated how she should say it.
Isaac waited patiently.
''I talked with your father yesterday, and...'' She bit her lips and continued, ''I am sorry if we made you uncomfortable with our overprotectiveness, but you have to understand... We couldn't find the ones who attacked you, and you almost died.''
She gritted her teeth with absolute hate, but soon she regained her composure, ''We couldn't be sure if you get attacked again... I am sorry, but we couldn't be sure before the bastards who hurt you is behind bars.'' She tapped Isaac's leg a couple of times with her trembling hand.
Isaac tried to open his mouth, but no words came out. He knew the fear they had, even he was scared to exit his home for a quite long time and was even paranoid enough to think that he was being watched by the men in ski masks.
But, he couldn't let the fear decide what kind of person he was and... He killed his fears, which ended his fear once and for all.
Now, only the revenge is left, and it will be soon completed.
''Thanks, mom...'' He said with too many emotions in his tone, but the one that stood out was his confidence, ''But, you don't need to be afraid anymore... They aren't a threat to me anymore.''
''What?'' Isabella tilted her head and didn't completely understand what her son meant.
Isaac smiled and didn't make it clearer for her, ''I appreciate your worry and Alice's, but I will be fine, I am going to prove it to you.'' He grabbed his mother's hand and squeezed it powerfully before letting go and leaving the living room.
Isabella looked surprised as she looked at her hand, which had a red handprint.
''Since when he was that strong..?'' She thought aloud and clenched her fist, which hid the red handprint.
A small smile appeared on her face as she felt like Isaac had entered adulthood, and soon, she won't be the one who needs to take care of him. Instead, his future wife will be the one who shares his burdens.
''Sigh...'' Her shoulders slumped, ''They are growing up so quick...'' Even though she felt saddened by the fact, still a gentle smile appeared on her beautiful face, ''Mark is still young, but maybe we should get a new baby?'' She tapped her chin, and a sly smile appeared on her face.
On the fourth floor.
Isaac entered his room and took a glimpse of the wardrobe, and his heart instantly started racing. He had a hard time falling asleep last night because the thoughts of live streaming were replaying in his mind.
When he first found out about the live streaming aspect of the game, he thought he would get zero views, but apparently, there would be at least 10 who would come to watch.
Even though the amount is not that great, it still makes him nervous.
*Slap*
His two palms slapped his cheeks, and the pain finally woke up from his useless thoughts.
''So what if I don't get any viewers... It can be fun— let's fucking do this!'' He patted his chest a couple of times and went straight towards the wardrobe. He opened the doors and took the black box from there, and soon afterwards, he sat down on his bed with an open box in front of him.
He took out the headgear and gently wrapped it around his head, with a visor covering his eyes.
*Bam*
He dropped the box down, which only made a loud bam but didn't make even a dent on the box, which was as expected.
''Alright...'' Isaac gathered his courage and lied down on the bed.
With final head movements to put his head in a more comfortable position, he was finally ready to enter White Online once again.
*Tap*
He tapped the button on the headgear, and soon the visor started having a row of words going back and forth, but he only focused on a few.
