White Dragon Lord
Chapter 436: The Surprise Attack of the Four Abomination Rank Titans
On the 71st Layer of the Abyss, the White Dragon Lord appeared in midair. He checked his bearings and flew toward the Bloodstained Swamp.
Before long, he spotted the blood-red marsh in the distance. True to its name, the water in the Bloodstained Swamp was a dark, blackish red. From afar, it looked just like pooled blood—deadly silent, eerie, and terrifying.
As the White Dragon Lord drew closer, he sensed an ominous aura. It brimmed with chaos—the distinct scent of Dexika the Formless.
Dexika the Formless was a mutated devourer demon. It would swallow every living creature in sight and could transform into any species it had ever consumed. It was a true transformation, not merely a physical shift, because its soul changed along with its form.
This was one of the great unsolved mysteries of the multiverse. Many Abomination Rank Mages had studied it, but not a single one had figured out the underlying cause.
Following the aura, the White Dragon Lord soon found Dexika the Formless. The demon looked like a pool of constantly squirming gelatin without a nose, eyes, or any other organs. It was also massive, easily the size of several football fields.
That's a thorough mutation, he thought.
The White Dragon Lord marveled at the sight. Ordinary devourer demons were gluttons that would eat anything, but they were at least normal demons. Dexika the Formless, however, didn't seem to belong to any known species in the multiverse. It was truly unique.
His professional Mage curiosity flared. Unable to resist the urge to study it, the White Dragon Lord activated Soul Sight and peered at the Formless One's soul.
Even with mental preparation, the sight still startled him. A dense, packed cluster of various creatures' souls was crammed together inside the Formless One's body. These souls were humanoid, bestial, and even included tiny insects. The clustered mass would have terrified anyone with trypophobia to death. Yet, despite being squashed together so tightly, the individual souls coexisted in perfect peace. This scene reminded the White Dragon Lord of the bone monster created by the lich in the Luoduoluo Plane. The technology for that bone monster had been provided by the Devils. The White Dragon Lord suspected that the Devils had likely studied the Formless One to devise that method for creating an Abomination.
Unfortunately for them, the Formless One was one of a kind. The Devils could only produce defective imitations.
Frost energy gathered at the White Dragon Lord's fingertip and struck the Formless One, freezing a small section of its body.
The squirming gelatin paused for a second before writhing rapidly, swallowing up the frozen section. The Formless One's massive body shifted at blinding speed, sprouting arms and a pair of demonic wings. The translucent jelly rapidly turned red and ignited into a roaring inferno. A Bano Flame Demon, wreathed in raging fire and black smoke, appeared before the White Dragon Lord.
"Damned dragon! You dare provoke Lord Dexika!"
Accompanied by curses in Abyssal, the Blazing Whip lashed out at the White Dragon Lord, trailing howling wind and black smoke. Several fireballs shot forth at the same time. The White Dragon Lord cast a spell, blocking the Formless One's attacks.
The White Dragon Lord's curiosity only deepened. He noticed that the Formless One's soul had also shifted into the state of a Bano Flame Demon. Had he not watched the transformation with his own eyes, he would have genuinely believed he was facing a High-Tier Legend Bano Flame Demon.
This transformation ability was absolutely flawless.
A giant ice spear formed in front of the White Dragon Lord and shot toward the Formless One. It instantly pierced the Bano Flame Demon, drawing scorching, magma-like demonic blood. The Formless One let out a miserable scream.
However, if it were that easy to deal with, it wouldn't be one of the multiverse's great unsolved mysteries.
With the spear still lodged in its chest, the Bano Flame Demon melted back into a gelatinous blob. It then rapidly morphed into a Mourning Weasel. Its scythe-like tail whipped into a blur, leaving streaks of cold light flashing through the air.
Since the long-range magic of the Bano Flame Demon hadn't worked, the Formless One switched to close combat. The petite Mourning Weasel darted and danced around the White Dragon Lord.
The White Dragon Lord humored the creature, observing it as they fought while using his Gold Finger to study and calculate.
Time ticked by. An hour later, the White Dragon Lord still hadn't produced any results, and he abandoned the idea of killing the Formless One.
It wasn't that he felt merciful and decided to spare its life; he simply couldn't do it. He discovered that the Formless One could split into endless avatars. If it wanted to flee, the White Dragon Lord couldn't stop it. The Formless One's soul was like a swarming ball of ants—even Soul Magic could only destroy the outermost layer of souls.
Driven by curiosity, he continued to study the Formless One.
Suddenly, four Spears of the Titans of different colors tore through space. They shot out from treacherous angles, forming an inescapable death trap. At the same time, the surrounding space was sealed. The White Dragon Lord's heart lurched in shock. He realized these four Spears of the Titans had been hurled by Abomination Rank Titans! Among them was a familiar Spear of Thunder, carrying the unmistakable aura of the Mother of Lightning.
Damn it! Where exactly did word leak out?!
The White Dragon Lord certainly hadn't forgotten that the Titans were constantly gunning for him. Ever since he left Nordhill, he had been exceptionally cautious, only revealing his true form in front of Engru Ghostwolf.
Suddenly, the White Dragon Lord remembered Duvana Frostspear. With lightning flashing all over her body, that woman had looked exactly like a miniature Thunder Titan. Thinking back on it now, she was highly likely a dependent of the Mother of Lightning—not to mention that suspicious malice.
The White Dragon Lord felt a surge of bitter resentment. Had he known, he would have killed her just to be safe, rather than letting her go.
The Spears of the Titans arrived in the blink of an eye, fast as lightning. The White Dragon dodged behind the Formless One and simultaneously activated the Gate of the Ice Beast to block two of the spears. That left only one Spear of the Titans, which he had no choice but to take head-on.
He spewed out his Dragon Breath, engulfing the incoming Spear of the Titans. The two highly destructive forces annihilated each other. Ultimately, the White Dragon Lord emerged victorious, completely draining the energy of the Spear of the Titans.
Two of the Spears of the Titans were blocked by the Gate of the Ice Beast, and one was exhausted by his Dragon Breath. As for the Thunder Titan spear, after it punched cleanly through the Formless One and was on the verge of striking the White Dragon Lord, it was blocked by the Authority of Winter's Emperor's Shield.
While the White Dragon Lord was dealing with the Spears of the Titans, the four Abomination Rank Titans tore through space and appeared on the 71st Layer of the Bottomless Abyss: one blue, one gold, one cyan, and one white.
The blue Titan crackled with lightning, her eyes burning with fury and sadistic glee. It was the Thunder Titan who bore a world-destroying grudge against the White Dragon Lord and had sworn to kill him—Sindona, Mother of Lightning.
The golden Titan's body possessed a heavy metallic luster, like the golden body of a Buddha. He was a rare legendary breed—a Golden Titan. A Golden Titan's status within the Titan Race was equivalent to that of a Rainbow Dragon within the Dragon Race; both were formidable species that reached the Abomination Rank the moment they became an Adult.
The cyan-gray Titan was a Rock Titan. The White Dragon Lord had crossed paths with him once while hunting down an escaped Abomination. His name was Fudehulk, Pillar of the Heavens, a Rock Titan who had stepped into the Abomination Rank many years ago and specialized in defense.
The white Titan was a Frost Titan. The White Dragon Lord hadn't met this particular Titan before, but he could guess his name. There was only one Abomination Rank Frost Titan in the entire multiverse—Monkenado Frostwhisper, a magic master who excelled in ice magic.
The four Titans surrounded the White Dragon Lord. His heart raced, and blood surged wildly through his veins, yet his mind grew increasingly clear.
The space had been locked down; escape was impossible. Still, the White Dragon Lord wasn't the least bit worried about his own safety.
In truth, the moment their initial strike failed to kill him, the four Abomination Rank Titans lost any chance of ending the White Dragon Lord's life.
"You really gave me a fright there, Sindona!"
"White Dragon! So even you know fear! Hahaha!" The Mother of Lightning's face twisted with the vicious delight of imminent revenge as she stared dagger-like at the White Dragon Lord. "Savor this despair carefully. When my world was destroyed, my subjects felt exactly what you are feeling now. Pain! Powerlessness..."
"Hah? What kind of nonsense are you spouting!" The White Dragon Lord swept his gaze across the four Titans. "You think you've got me dead to rights just because you outnumber me?!"
"Is that not the case?! We have sealed the space here! The dragon gods are being held back by a few of our Majesties!" The Mother of Lightning sneered. "Are you still pinning your hopes on that Ice Elemental you summoned last time?!"
"It's useless! Sir Frostwhisper has temporarily closed off the elemental conduit of this plane. Your summon will fail! No one can save you now!"
The Mother of Lightning paused after every word, her voice dripping with endless murderous intent. "You! Are! Dead!"
"Why waste words on the enemy! Kill him!" Frostwhisper condensed a spear of frost and prepared to attack.
"I think you might have misunderstood something," the White Dragon Lord said, looking somewhat exasperated. "What makes you so sure that I summoned the Ice Elemental?"
In reality, while the [Amos's Horn Ring] set could form a Portal to summon a Winter Commander, this magic wasn't a summoning spell in the traditional sense. It was the Winter Commander actively coming to support the White Dragon Lord.
Suddenly, Frostwhisper's expression changed. He felt that the blocking barrier he had cast upon the elemental conduit was under attack and would soon be shattered. This was because an Abomination Rank Ice Elemental was doing everything in its power to break through the conduit's barrier.
"Quick! Kill him!"
The four Titans sensed that something was wrong as well and launched their attacks at the White Dragon Lord almost simultaneously.
"Wartime Auxiliary Mode, activate!"
Facing the combined assault of four Abomination Rank Titans, the White Dragon Lord didn't dare be careless. He instantly engaged his strongest state. The incantations of ice magic and the voice of the soul echoed simultaneously.
Having stepped into the Abomination Rank, the Titans could clearly sense the fluctuations of Soul Magic. To Abomination Rank powerhouses, those fluctuations were like the scythe of the Grim Reaper.
The Rock Titan, Fudehulk, Pillar of the Heavens, saw his expression drastically shift. "Sindona! Are you screwing me over?! Is this the White Dragon you said just entered the Abomination Rank?!"
"I don't know what's going on either!" The Mother of Lightning felt incredibly frustrated. Normally, only Abomination Rank powerhouses were qualified to study the soul, yet the White Dragon Lord's execution of Soul Magic was anything but a novice's level.
Regardless of the truth, matters had already reached this point. For the Titans, it was a case where an arrow on the bowstring must be loosed.
Master Tier Soul Magic—Soul-Perishing Needle!
A translucent needle of Soul Energy shot toward the Rock Titan. Although those at the Abomination Rank could access Soul Magic, not everyone had the qualifications to learn it. From their brief exchange just now, the White Dragon Lord knew that this Rock Titan was absolutely terrified of Soul Magic.
The Rock Titan stood ready, pushing his perception to its absolute limits, and spotted the incoming Soul-Perishing Needle. For him, a Master Tier Soul Magic spell might not kill him in a single blow, but it would still inflict substantial injuries. The Rock Titan dodged it by a hair's breadth.
On the other side, Frostwhisper cast a legendary magic spell of the ice element. A gust of freezing wind howled toward the White Dragon Lord. The White Dragon Lord simply commanded the ice elements to withdraw, instantly crippling the legendary magic's power. By the time it blew against him, it felt no different from a gentle spring breeze.
Frostwhisper was horrified. He had never expected the White Dragon Lord's control over the ice elements to be this high. When he noticed the Authority of Winter in the White Dragon Lord's hand, dread filled his heart, closely followed by a flash of greed in his eyes.
The Mother of Lightning unleashed tens of thousands of lightning bolts. The White Dragon Lord fired the ice magic he had been preparing for a long time, clashing directly with her lightning. The tyrannical ice energy froze everything in its path, while the surging lightning carved deep trenches across the earth.
The innocent Formless One caught in the crossfire ended up losing a large chunk of its gelatinous body.
After all, these five Abomination Rank powerhouses were currently striking with all their might. This was nothing like the light sparring from when the White Dragon Lord was studying it. Even the mere shockwaves were enough to cause the demon immense suffering.
The Formless One transformed into a demon species capable of tunneling swiftly underground and vanished into the soil.
The White Dragon Lord focused his primary attention on the Golden Titan.
Among the four Abomination Rank Titans, the Mother of Lightning had stepped into the Abomination Rank the most recently. She hadn't even passed her novice period, making her the smallest threat.
Meanwhile, Frostwhisper was completely countered by the White Dragon Lord, and the Rock Titan feared Soul Magic. Only the Golden Titan posed a genuine threat to the White Dragon Lord.
Wielding a Spear of the Titans, the Golden Titan initiated a brutal melee against the White Dragon Lord. The White Dragon Lord fought back with his claws, teeth, and tail, tangling with the Titan in close combat. However, the White Dragon Lord wasn't a professional Warrior. Even with the Gold Finger's assistance, his reactions were still slower than the Golden Titan's.
The White Dragon Lord found himself in a perilous situation, narrowly avoiding being skewered several times. Fortunately, he had the Authority of Winter's Emperor's Shield; a Forbidden Spell-level defense was not so easily broken.
Crack!
After holding out for five seconds, the White Dragon Lord heard the sound of shattering—it was like music to his ears. The Winter Commander, Motznovi, had broken through the barrier on the elemental conduit, tearing through space and appearing in the sky.
Seeing the White Dragon Lord besieged by four Abomination Rank Titans, Motznovi had no time to think. He swung his shield and smashed it toward the Golden Titan.
Hiding behind Motznovi, the White Dragon Lord finally got a chance to catch his breath.
"Grand Commander Motznovi! You finally made it!"
"You really know how to stir up trouble! Last time it was an Eight-Armed Snake Demon that even I couldn't handle! Now look at you, provoking four of them at once!"
"They're the ones who came looking for trouble! I'm the victim here!" the White Dragon Lord said, feeling incredibly wronged.
Seeing that the White Dragon Lord actually had the time to chat with the Ice Elemental, the Mother of Lightning flew into a rage. Liquid lightning surged from her body like magma, filling the air with the sharp scent of ionization.
"Damn it! I can't handle a two-on-four! Keep calling for backup!"
The White Dragon Lord contacted the other two Winter Commanders, who had been observing from the Elemental Plane of Ice.
"Who dares challenge the Winter Legion?!" Fernando's cold voice echoed across the firmament.
"You shall be buried by the freezing winter!" Catalina's appearance cast a thick layer of frost over the earth.
The White Dragon Lord and the three great Winter Commanders hovered in the air, locked in a tense standoff with the four Abomination Rank Titans.
"Sindona! Now it's my turn!"
