White Dragon Lord

Chapter 414: The Final Battle of the Blood War (4)

  • Next Chapter

The ground served as the battlefield for those below the Legendary Rank. The sheer number of ordinary soldiers was staggering; the Allied Forces and the Demon Army formed a sharply divided ocean that stretched so far that even the White Dragon Lord, flying high above, could not see its end.

Along the grinding frontline, a vast array of Demons bared their fangs and claws.

Massive Demons clad in thick scales rampaged across the field, sending soldiers flying wherever they passed. These tank-like monsters only halted their savage charges when they were killed or slammed into enemies of the same weight class.

Berserker Demons whirled their sharp blades in a frenzy, churning up storms of flesh and blood. The gore and combat ignited the Berserk instincts in their blood; only death could stop these monsters, whose minds knew nothing but slaughter.

Imps flapped their wings as they swarmed over the army. Those lucky enough to dodge the volley of arrows swooped down to thrust their pitchforks from above, occasionally unleashing the spell-like abilities of their lineage.

Succubi parted their alluring red lips, but instead of sweet words, they chanted blasphemous demonic incantations. Their vicious magic reaped the lives of the Allied Forces' soldiers.

Anyone who thought these slender succubi were easy targets in close combat was gravely mistaken. Only those who crossed blades with them knew the true terror of their snake-headed whips. The barbed lengths lashed out like striking vipers, tearing away massive chunks of flesh with a single touch.

The White Dragon Lord watched an unlucky soldier catch a whip around the neck; his throat was instantly crushed.

Standing against the Demons were the Tripartite Allied Forces. Diverse creatures from across the multiverse planes stood in specialized battle formations organized by race, strength, class, and size, clashing head-on with the Demon horde.

Hound divine servitors, archons, and other celestial beings hacked into the Demons with holy swords forged on Mount Celestia. Holy light and demonic energy corroded each other as steel clashed against claw.

Human Shield Guardians hoisted their heavy shields, weathering a storm of acid, arrows, and spikes to protect the comrades behind them. They even withstood the spell-like abilities unleashed by the Demons.

The eyes of the Orc Warriors glowed a violent crimson. These hot-tempered natural fighters were a perfect match for the Berserker Demons. Spurred on by the scent of blood, the Orcs became living meat grinders, their battleaxes, Warhammers, and broadswords stirring up widespread turmoil and massacre.

Elven archers bounded nimbly across the battlefield like rangers darting through a dense forest, picking their targets with deadly precision. With centuries of lifespan dedicated to rigorous training, these Warriors never missed a shot.

Devils were famous for their elegance and cunning, but they discarded all pretense of grace here. Their opponents were their mortal enemies, the Demons, and Demons had no ear for flowery lies. The Devils could rely only on their weapons and armor. Fortunately, their forging techniques combined the best elements from across the multiverse. Their superior gear allowed a single Devil to regularly take down three or four Demons of the same Tier.

Once the serpent swarm bred by the Blade Sovereign joined the fray, the Allied Forces Command Center deployed specialized squads to handle the snakes slithering across the ground. Short-statured gnomes, halflings, and Dwarves spearheaded this effort. Led by celestial hounds with keen noses, they tracked the vipers through the dirt and chopped them in half with sharp axes.

Aside from the smaller snakes swarming beneath the Allied Forces' feet, the horde also included massive pythons measuring dozens of meters long. To counter them, the Alliance brought in the heavy hitters: mountain giants aligned with the Elves, whale guards from the sea tribes, and massive summoned elementals. Wielding colossal weapons, these towering beings took on the giant pythons and the heaviest Demons.

After the White Dragon Lord cast the Bane of Ice and Snow, plunging the ambient temperature, the heat-loving Demons and serpents slowed as if subjected to a mass sluggishness curse. The Allied Forces seized the opening to launch a fierce counterattack, reaping brilliant results as the frontline slowly pushed toward the Viper Temple.

High in the clouds lay the Legendary Rank battlefield. The cloud cover had long been obliterated by the clashes of legendary powerhouses. Casters unleashed destructive gales, lightning, and fire that swept across the sky. Errant meteorites and chunks of ice occasionally rained down on the chaotic melee below, reaping countless lives. Magic had no eyes, and the fallout crushed friend and foe alike.

Melee professionals clashed with Demons in brutal sky combat. So long as their luck wasn't completely rotten, any legendary powerhouse who survived a decade in the Abyss could hoard enough points to exchange for Legendary equipment from the Alliance or other organizations. Thus, the proportion of legendary powerhouses wielding Legendary equipment in this war was far higher than on any material plane.

"Huh?"

The White Dragon Lord spotted a unique faction within the legendary skirmishes—a group of bare-handed legendary ascetics. With nothing but white bandages wrapped around their fists, these monks dared to catch the curved blades of the Six-Armed Snake Demons. They didn't just block the strikes; they launched torrential counterattacks with both hands and feet. The force of their blows bypassed physical armor to directly shatter fragile internal organs, making them absolute tank killers.

The Allied Forces had spent only two days transitioning from their initial ambush to this final showdown. Even though the Blade Sovereign had used every trick in those two days to gather her powerhouses, they were nowhere near as prepared as the coalition. That lack of preparation was painfully obvious now, as the Allied Forces held the upper hand across all three tiers of the battlefield.

The White Dragon Lord shifted his gaze to the High-Tier Legendary battlefield. Although it featured the fewest combatants, the resulting shockwaves were the most catastrophic. The terrifying collision of magic birthed violent concussive blasts, and highly destructive energy particles scoured the upper atmosphere. In some places, the very air had been annihilated, leaving patches of pure vacuum.

Amidst the rippling shockwaves, melee High-Tier Legends unleashed their ultimate techniques against elite Demons. It was a clash of primal strength, of sharp blades against monstrous claws, where victory or defeat was decided in a fraction of a second.

Behind the melee professionals, numerous casters played to their strengths. They layered supportive buffs over their vanguards, mended wounds and restored stamina using holy light or natural energy, while powerhouses specializing in area-of-effect spells rained down devastating magical energy.

Yet, despite their overwhelming presence, large-scale magic mainly served to divide the battlefield. It took highly concentrated, single-target ranged magic to effectively kill an enemy at that level. Furthermore, the quieter the magic, the deadlier its result, for only a concealed strike could slip past an opponent's eyes.

Relieved of the threat posed by the White Dragon Lord's five-man squad, the Demons had grown considerably more "courageous." Some even dared to stick their heads out and lead counter-charges against the Allied Forces' lines.

Among these emboldened Demons was the Explosive Rock Bull Demon Lord who had escaped them last time. He was currently swinging his Totem Pillar, spraying highly destructive special magma across the Allied Forces' ranks and forcing the melee professionals to fall back or cower behind their shields.

The Orc licked his dry lips with a thick tongue, a dense aura of murderous intent rising from his body. Letting the Explosive Rock Bull Demon Lord slip away last time had left him incredibly frustrated.

"What was that Explosive Rock Bull Demon Lord's name again?" The Orc hefted his battleaxe in one hand and rubbed his large bald head with the other. "Forget it, I can't remember. Let's make up for our past regrets."

Watching the Allied Forces constantly dodging the rain of magma, the White Dragon Lord nodded. "This Explosive Rock Bull Demon's abilities are indeed troublesome. Let's go!"

Skyhowler spearheaded the charge, with the Orc following closely behind. The White Dragon Lord, Mage Alan, and the Light of the Firmament layered defensive magic and buffs onto their two melee teammates.

The White Dragon Lord's five-member squad dropped from the sky, plunging right into the chaotic center of the High-Tier Legendary battlefield. The Allied Forces' powerhouses immediately felt their spirits lift; their backbone had returned.

While the White Dragon Lord's five-member squad lacked the combat strength to secure a direct victory, they could establish overwhelming dominance in localized skirmishes. Their ability to reposition as needed put enormous psychological pressure on the Demons, who shrank back to avoid drawing their ire. To the Alliance, the White Dragon Lord's squad acted as a rousing battle standard.

Amos's Frost Domain!

An endless Cold Wave erupted from the White Dragon Lord's body in all directions. The flying magma met the cold air and rapidly cooled, turning into hardened obsidian. Stripped of its searing, destructive energy, the obsidian bounced harmlessly off the Allied Forces.

The Cold Wave also washed over the surrounding Demons and Allied Forces, with the Explosive Rock Bull Demon Lord bearing the brunt of the blast.

Searing flames flared up from the Explosive Rock Bull Demon Lord's body to ward off the cold. Yet, the greatest threat at this moment wasn't the chill, but Skyhowler barreling toward him. If the Demon dared to turn his back, those two razor-sharp tusks would bore two holes right through his body.

"Roar!"

The Explosive Rock Bull Demon Lord threw his head back and roared. His bulging, muscular arms gripped his Magma Totem Pole in a sweeping stance, his crimson demonic eyes locked on Skyhowler as she descended from above.

Unwilling to be outdone, Skyhowler let the moon-colored patterns on her skin flare with intense light, forming a thin protective film over her body. Ignoring the chaotic energy whipping around her, she drove her sharp tusks toward the Explosive Rock Bull Demon Lord like twin spears.

Bang!

The Explosive Rock Bull Demon Lord swept his Totem Pillar, slamming it into Skyhowler's snout. While the energy was dampened by her magical defense, the sheer physical force behind the Totem Pillar was undeniable. Pulled by that massive impact, Skyhowler's head wrenched to the side, causing her tusks to miss the Demon Lord.

But the Explosive Rock Bull Demon Lord didn't fare much better. Skyhowler's massive frame crashed directly into him. If not for his formidable constitution and magical protection, every bone in his body would have been shattered upon impact.

Dragging his battleaxe, the Orc rushed the retreating Explosive Rock Bull Demon Lord. He swung the sharp axe in a sweeping arc. Caught in a rush, the Demon Lord had no choice but to use his arm to block. The Orc's axe was clearly no ordinary weapon; it clove straight through the Demon's arm, which was as thick as a concrete pillar.

The two-story-tall Explosive Rock Bull Demon Lord grunted in pain. He balled his uninjured hand into a flaming fist roughly the size of the entire Orc. The nimble Orc abandoned his battleaxe and ducked low to evade.

After opening up some distance, the Orc reached out his large hand toward the axe embedded in the Demon's arm. As if drawn by a magnet, the sharp axe ripped free and flew back into his grasp. The Orc casually shook the axe, splattering the boiling hot demonic blood off its blade.

As the five-member squad besieged the Explosive Rock Bull Demon Lord, several other Demons attempted to support their ally with ranged magic. However, the White Dragon Lord, Mage Alan, and nearby Allied Forces comrades intercepted them all. The White Dragon Lord even found an opportunity to join the beatdown.

Legendary magic—Frozen Mausoleum!

Frozen Mausoleum summoned boundless cold from the void, rapidly condensing ice around an enemy to entomb them. Weaker targets would be instantly frozen solid, succumbing to the biting frost.

Unable to dodge in time, the Explosive Rock Bull Demon Lord was sealed inside a thick block of ice. Driven by the threat of death, the flames inside his body erupted as he desperately tried to melt the ice. Trapped within the translucent ice, the burning Demon Lord glowed a fiery orange-red, resembling a lightbulb filmed in condensation.

But this was no ordinary ice. It was magical frost rich with Ice Elementals. Even as a powerhouse at the High-Tier Legendary Level, the Explosive Rock Bull Demon Lord could not shatter it instantly.

Just a moment before the Demon Lord could break free, Mage Alan's magic was ready. A spatial blade, boasting incredible speed and powerful penetrating force, instantly cleaved through the thin ice layer and struck the target inside.

The spatial blade pierced straight through his heart. The struggling Explosive Rock Bull Demon Lord suddenly went rigid. Cracks spread across his body like fracturing rock, and crimson light bled through the fissures.

Boom!

With a deafening explosion, the Demon Lord's corpse detonated. Violent flames erupted, instantly vaporizing the remaining ice as highly destructive energy particles shot in all directions. Warriors on the ground looked up to find the entire sky painted red by the searing blast, and a wave of heat washed over them, raising the temperature by several degrees.

High above, the White Dragon Lord and his team had long anticipated the blast and retreated far from the epicenter. Much like the Bano Flame Demons, Explosive Rock Bulls acted as living bombs upon death. The squad had already erected their Magic Shields, and the other Demons had likewise scattered to a safe distance.

An explosion on the level of a Forbidden Spell forced a temporary ceasefire between the two sides. Bathed in the scorching light, the Allied Forces and the Demons stared each other down. Nothing bolstered morale quite like the fall of an enemy powerhouse; the Allied Forces' battle intent surged to a boiling point.

Searing flames splashed against his protective frost barrier, melting the outer layer into dripping water. The White Dragon Lord peered through his icy shield and the rolling fire, locking eyes with the Demons. In their gaze, he saw fear.

The Demons were afraid!

By this point in the battle, the number of Demon powerhouses who had fallen to the White Dragon Lord's five-man squad was nearing double digits. For High-Tier Legends, who rarely perished so easily, this was a truly legendary battle record.

Any Demon bold enough to stick its neck out was immediately annihilated by the White Dragon Lord's five-man squad. After several such executions, the blow to Demon morale was devastating. Even these Demons, known for destroying countless worlds, felt true fear when faced with a hopeless battle.

Inside the Viper Temple, the Blade Sovereign stood up in sheer fury. Her icy gaze locked onto the five-member squad, particularly that White Dragon. It was that dragon who had triggered the soul barrier protecting her pet, the Marrow-Eating Green Climbing Snake.

Ever since the soul protection on her pet was triggered, the Blade Sovereign had kept a close eye on the White Dragon Lord. She quickly discovered the reason for the swift collapse of the High-Tier Legendary battlefield—any powerhouse who dared to emerge was slaughtered, and the architect of that massacre was none other than that hateful White Dragon.

In truth, if the High-Tier Legendary Demons could have trusted one another enough to cooperate, they wouldn't have been so thoroughly crushed by the White Dragon Lord's five-man squad. However, their chaotic and evil nature dictated that genuine teamwork among Demons was impossible.

The White Dragon Lord's five-man squad, on the other hand, was linked by a Soul-Linking Chain. Their minds were perfectly synced, allowing them to coordinate flawlessly and achieve a synergy where the whole was far greater than the sum of its parts.

The Blade Sovereign patted the viper armrest of her throne. The viper armrest opened its jaws and spat out a silver-gray scroll.
