White Dragon Lord
Chapter 408: The Final Battle of the Blood War Arrives Suddenly
A deafening boom shattered the sky. When the soldiers of the Seventh Army Group looked up, they saw nothing but a massive sonic boom cloud. The White Dragon Lord had long since vanished from their line of sight. The aerial patrol squads felt only a torrential gale that forced their eyes shut; by the time they opened them, the culprit was nowhere to be found.
'Still not fast enough!'
The White Dragon Lord rapidly chanted an incantation.
Greater Light Body Spell!
Legendary Flight!
...
Fortified by a barrage of buff spells, the White Dragon Lord's speed surged once more. He left a long trail of afterimages across the sky as he hurtled toward his destination.
The earth blurred past beneath him. The White Dragon Lord had no idea exactly how fast he was flying; his mind held only a single thought: 'Felicia, wait for me!'
Finally, the White Dragon Lord sensed the energy fluctuations of combat. He spotted fighting figures on the distant horizon. Among them was a familiar dragon silhouette radiating an unmistakable aura—his Dragon Sister, Felicia.
As the distance closed, the White Dragon Lord took in the battlefield. Felicia and four companions were swarming a single Demon. Yet despite being surrounded, their target held the upper hand.It was a humanoid Demon with a sharp, bladed horn jutting from its head. It sported razor-like claws and fangs, its panther-like musculature brimming with explosive power, and a grisly scar slashed across its robust chest. But far more striking than the scar was its tail. The appendage was longer than the creature was tall, segmented like a spinal column, and tipped with a viciously sharp sickle.
A Mourning Weasel!
A legend had long circulated among adventurers: the Mourning Weasel was a fallen envoy of death, and crossing its path meant meeting death itself.
Legends were often unreliable, but it was absolutely true that the Mourning Weasel possessed strength far eclipsing that of ordinary Demons. Its elusive tail was especially deadly, lashing out at blinding speeds and impossible angles. Very few ever survived its pursuit.
Perhaps sensing the White Dragon Lord's approach, the Mourning Weasel recognized the threat and escalated its assault. Its sickle tail blurred into a flurry of afterimages. The pressure on Felicia and the other adventurers multiplied, plunging them into desperate peril. Only then did they realize the terrifying truth: the dreadful Demon had been toying with them all along.
Squelch!
The sickle tail pierced straight through an adventurer's abdomen and erupted from his back in a shower of blood and ruptured organs. Knowing he would not survive, the adventurer proved ruthless—he locked all four limbs around the Demon's tail in a death grip. The sickle tail's agility instantly plummeted. The remaining companions scrambled back to catch their breath, buying just enough time for the White Dragon Lord to arrive.
The White Dragon Lord finally entered spellcasting range. Facing a High-Tier Legendary Level Mourning Weasel, he dared not be careless. His very first strike was his trump card: Soul Magic.
Advanced Soul Magic—Soul-Breaking Arrow!
An invisible, untraceable arrow of Soul Energy shot toward the Demon. The Mourning Weasel, having just shaken off its burden, dodged sideways. The White Dragon Lord was deeply shocked. This was the first time anyone had ever dodged a head-on Soul Magic attack.
'Can it see Soul Energy, or is it something else?!'
The White Dragon Lord stared at the Mourning Weasel, searching its face for an answer. On the Mourning Weasel's face, he found surprise, wariness, and a flicker of confusion.
The likelihood of it actually seeing Soul Energy was low. Having made his judgment, the White Dragon Lord charged at the Demon.
Catching sight of the White Dragon Lord nearby, the heavily strained Felicia cried out in joyous relief. She roared at her companions, "Fall back! My brother specializes in wide-area strikes! We'll only be a burden if we stay!"
Having evaded the Soul-Breaking Arrow, the Mourning Weasel focused its entire attention on the White Dragon Lord. Felicia and the other three legendary adventurers pulled back to the sidelines, while the White Dragon Lord rapidly chanted his next incantation.
Master Tier magic—Ice Coffin: Empowered!
The moisture in the air around the Mourning Weasel rapidly condensed. The spell's final form was to condense into an Ice Coffin to trap the enemy. The White Dragon Lord only intended to use this magic to lock the Demon in place for a split second to secure a marginal advantage. But to his absolute shock, the Mourning Weasel swung its sickle tail and instantly darted completely out of the Ice Coffin's area of effect.
'What terrifying speed! What sharp combat instincts!'
The White Dragon Lord understood how the Mourning Weasel had evaded the Soul-Breaking Arrow. Barring any surprises, it had relied entirely on its terrifying combat instincts.
Bursting free of the Ice Coffin's attack range, the Mourning Weasel shot toward the White Dragon Lord like a bolt of lightning, trailing a long string of ghostly afterimages in the air.
The White Dragon Lord opened his mouth. Along with a soul-shaking roar, rippling rings of sonic waves spread forward.
Intermediate Tier Soul Magic—Shattering Roar!
The attack range of Shattering Roar was vastly larger than that of the Ice Coffin. Even the blindingly fast Mourning Weasel could not completely dodge it. Swept by the sonic wave containing a soul attack, its body stuttered for a fraction of a second before returning to normal. For the highly condensed soul of a High-Tier Legend, as long as it was not hit directly, the dispersed power of Shattering Roar was still somewhat lacking.
The Mourning Weasel dove toward the earth; it was planning to flee. The inexplicable, fatal sense of crisis it had felt earlier, coupled with the bizarre sonic wave attack just now... this White Dragon's attack methods were simply too erratic. Its instincts told it that fighting any further would result in its death.
Dragon Breath brewed in the White Dragon Lord's mouth. A cone-shaped Ice-Blue Dragon Breath poured out, sweeping over the fleeing Mourning Weasel. The White Dragon Lord had a body length of over thirty meters, and his Dragon Breath stretched for hundreds of meters, whereas the Mourning Weasel's height was only over two meters. The Mourning Weasel frantically fled across the ground in a serpentine pattern, like a little mouse dodging a flamethrower, while the White Dragon Lord gave unrelenting chase.
Even a clay figurine has a temper, let alone a High-Tier Legendary Level Demon. The Mourning Weasel lashed its sickle tail, throwing out a sickle-shaped air slash.
The angle of the air slash was very clever; it did not directly attack the White Dragon Lord, but rather slashed right into the White Dragon Lord's continued path of pursuit. The White Dragon Lord was forced to pause, and the Mourning Weasel seized the opportunity to flee into the distance.
Warily watching the fleeing Mourning Weasel, the White Dragon Lord gave up the chase. With a few bounds, the Mourning Weasel quickly disappeared into the distant brush.
"Lucky you run so fast!"
The White Dragon Lord turned back and flew toward Felicia. Felicia and the three other adventurers stood in silent vigil around their dead companion's corpse, even though the wounds on their bodies were still bleeding. The White Dragon Lord gently flapped his wings and landed on the ground. He looked at the adventurer whose abdomen had been pierced. When the Mourning Weasel's sickle tail passed through his stomach, it had also shattered his internal organs. Now, broken organ fragments flowed out of the bloody hole along with blood, spreading out from beneath the corpse.
"Did this brave warrior leave a will?"
Right before his death, the adventurer had tightly held onto the enemy's most powerful weapon, securing a chance of survival for his companions. Otherwise, by the time the White Dragon Lord arrived, it was highly likely that only three of these four adventurers would have been left. Such a method of sacrifice truly deserved the title of "brave warrior." The White Dragon Lord also felt sincere admiration, though, of course, his main reason for respecting him was that he had secured a chance of survival for his Dragon Sister.
Aside from expressing his respects, the White Dragon Lord's main intention was to urge the four to handle the corpse quickly. After all, this was Demon territory. If that Mourning Weasel still had companions, there would be trouble.
"Udik once said that if he died, his body shouldn't be brought back. He wanted to be cremated on the spot; he wanted to return to the earth just like this."
As she spoke, flames ignited in Felicia's hands and sprayed over the corpse. While the corpse burned, the White Dragon Lord noticed that the aura on Felicia's body suddenly became unstable, and he could not help but be filled with pleasant surprise.
'This is the sign of a breakthrough!'
When Udik's corpse completely turned to ashes, Felicia's priest level also broke through to the Legendary Rank.
The White Dragon Lord opened his mouth to say congratulations, but he said nothing. Offering congratulations on such an occasion was truly somewhat inappropriate.
"Let's go."
The White Dragon Lord flew into the sky, and Felicia and the other three surviving adventurers hurriedly followed, flying toward the Allied Forces camp.
Flying side-by-side with the White Dragon Lord, Felicia said, "Brother, I want to ask a favor of you."
"What is it?"
"Find out the information on that Demon."
The White Dragon Lord fell silent.
"That Demon is very dangerous. Even if you step into the High-Tier Legend level, you still won't be its match. Knowing that, do you still want revenge?"
"Revenge? No, no, no!" Felicia's tone was flat. "As hunters who hunt Demons, we adventurers are prepared to be killed by Demons. There is no revenge to speak of. I want its information just to give myself a target. The way it toyed with us like mice is a lifelong humiliation to me."
'Alright, this is the real Felicia.'
The White Dragon Lord nodded. "When we get back, I'll ask Commander Osiris to look into it. A Mourning Weasel of this strength shouldn't be a nobody."
The journey passed without a word, and the White Dragon Lord's group smoothly returned to the military camp. The White Dragon Lord recounted the events to Osiris.
"Lord Osiris, the Boar's Howl Adventure Squad encountered a Mourning Weasel. I traded blows with it and found its strength to be very formidable. It has a diagonal scar on its chest. Do you know the information of this Demon?"
"A Mourning Weasel with a scar on its chest. Wait a moment."
Osiris pulled out a large book thick enough to serve as a pillow for an ordinary person and flipped it open to search. The White Dragon Lord saw that the book's cover depicted a burning Bano Flame Demon's head, and above the head was a line of text—Illustrated Guide to High-Risk Abyssal Demons.
"Found it! A Mourning Weasel—Tujin the Reaper! Tujin the Reaper is also known as the Wandering Reaper. It never stays in one place for long, lingering across the various planes of the Bottomless Abyss. It seems to just be strolling around, but rumors say it is searching for something... We know very little about this mysterious Demon, only that it specializes in assassination and is extremely dangerous. It is also the prey of the God of Hunting, Malar. The scar on its chest was left by Malar."
The White Dragon Lord recalled the information regarding the God of Hunting, Malar. Malar was a Chaotic Evil deity with Faint Divine Power, whose divine portfolio was hunting. His true form was a ferocious beast from the ancient era, also known as the King of Beasts and the Black-Blooded Beast. Malar was the craziest hunter in the multiverse, fond of hunting unique creatures. He had offended many deities by hunting rare beasts, resulting in him being universally reviled. It was precisely because he had offended too many people that Malar's true form did not dare to easily leave his Divine Kingdom, but his avatars were active across the various planes of the multiverse.
A deity's avatar was bound to be a peak High-Tier Legend, and it also carried the countless years of combat experience of the true form. The fact that Tujin the Reaper could escape the hunt of the God of Hunting proved its extraordinary strength.
The White Dragon Lord relayed Tujin the Reaper's information to Felicia, and led the gloomy-faced Dragon Sister back to the supervisory tent of the Seventh Army Group.
"Felicia, although you've already broken through to become a Legendary priest, you still need to make a trip to the Evil Scale Fortress." The White Dragon Lord took out the Dimensional Bag holding the sealed Titan's Head and handed it to his Dragon Sister. "Dispose of these things, and in passing, inquire about the outcome of the Sincaro Titan World's destruction, news of the Mother of Lightning, and whether my identity has been exposed."
The White Dragon Lord would not forget that a newly advanced Abomination Rank powerhouse had always kept him in mind. The gap between an Abomination and a High-Tier Legend was even greater than the gap between the Legendary Rank and the Master Tier. Facing the Mother of Lightning now, the White Dragon Lord had no other choice but to flee.
But the White Dragon Lord was not overly worried; he had a trump card capable of resisting an Abomination powerhouse. Furthermore, he had the Alliance as a strong protective umbrella. It was currently the time of the blood war; even if the God of the Dark Titans wanted to kill an Alliance High-Tier Legend, he would have to weigh whether he could withstand the fury of the Alliance's powerhouses.
Felicia teleported away with the Titan's Head. Watching the glow of the teleportation, the White Dragon Lord felt somewhat envious, and he muttered to himself, "It seems I have to carefully research precise teleportation. Forget it, I'll just ask Alan for advice."
With a shortcut available in front of him, the White Dragon Lord would not seek the distant instead of the near, and he immediately headed to Mage Alan's residence.
After explaining his purpose and paying an equivalent price, the White Dragon Lord got the guidance on precise teleportation from Mage Alan as he wished. Mage Alan explained it in great detail, and the White Dragon Lord figured out the trick to precise teleportation. All that was left was to improve his actual spellcasting level through increased practice. The White Dragon Lord immediately planned to test it out, but was stopped by Mage Alan.
"Amos, although precise teleportation can reduce teleportation fluctuations and decrease the probability of being discovered, it cannot completely avoid it. If you want to practice precise teleportation, it is best to experiment on a material plane."
"Alright."
Suddenly, the Allied Forces commander, Osiris Giant of Light, sent a message: "Emergency news! Gather at the main tent immediately!"
The White Dragon Lord looked at Mage Alan, and found that Mage Alan was also looking at him.
"You received it too?"
"Yes, let's go."
When the White Dragon Lord and Mage Alan rushed to the main tent, they found that several High-Tier Legend powerhouses were already seated inside. Osiris nodded at them in greeting. The two found two adjacent seats and sat down. As more and more High-Tier Legend powerhouses arrived, the White Dragon Lord realized a major event was about to occur.
Finally, all the High-Tier Legends in the entire military district arrived. Osiris's face was serious. "Everyone, I have some news to tell you."
Osiris took a deep breath: "The final battle is about to begin!"
The White Dragon Lord was taken aback, then immediately reacted and hurriedly asked, "Lord Commander, does the final battle you refer to mean the final battle in our sector, or..."
"The total final battle! Alliance Headquarters just sent a message ordering the army to march toward the Divine Alliance to rendezvous with the Divine Alliance and prepare a total offensive against the Demons. And it's not just us, it's the same for the Devils!"
