White Dragon Lord
Chapter 399: World-Warning Thunder
Just as the magical energy was about to strike the teleportation black hole, another burst of magic shot from the base of the Floating Tower and scattered the attack.
"Damn it!"
Crimson Flame Streamer glared at the Power of Dark Erosion standing at the base of the tower and slammed a frustrated fist against the White Tower's windowsill.
In just a few seconds, this brand-new Floating Tower would fully descend upon the Sincaro Titan World. The dragons had no time to mount a second assault.
"Retreat!"
The White Dragon Lord steered his Floating Tower into a rapid retreat. The badly shaken Titans did not pursue.
Once they reached a safe distance, the White Dragon Lord handed flight control to the Tower Spirit and convened an emergency meeting.
"Everyone, we might be in trouble. Judging by its sheer volume, this unknown Floating Tower is a size larger than the White Tower."
While size was not the sole deciding factor in a Floating Tower's performance, it remained a crucial metric. The larger the structure, the more surface area it offered for inscribing magical arrays.
The atmosphere grew heavy. Crimson Flame Streamer thought for a moment. "If necessary, I can borrow a Floating Tower to back us up."The White Dragon Lord shook his head. "We haven't reached that point yet. We might end up being chased all over the place by the Titans, but... we could also choose to fight them head-on."
The Matron of Venom sounded worried. "But the Titans now have two Floating Towers."
"The impact of two Floating Towers isn't that severe," the White Dragon Lord replied. "The main combat strength lies not in the towers themselves, but in the powerhouses inside them. As long as the Titans haven't brought in new reinforcements, we still have the strength to fight. But if we lose, then Lady Gelina, you will need to contact Her Majesty the Dragon Queen."
The Matron of Venom nodded. "Her Majesty the Dragon Queen watches over us."
"Seeking help from Her Majesty the Dragon Queen is only a last resort," the Black King said. "Until then, if we can stand against the Titans, we fight them ourselves."
"Exactly. That is the main reason I called this meeting," the White Dragon Lord agreed. "We need to test the waters in combat and see exactly what this new Floating Tower is capable of."
He continued, "I will increase the White Tower's flight speed to 1,500 meters per second. This already exceeds the absolute limit of the Mother of Lightning Floating Tower, guaranteeing that the only enemy we face will be the new tower."
"But, Amos," the Ancient Gold Dragon interjected, "what if the White Tower gets bogged down for too long, and the Mother of Lightning Floating Tower catches up?"
"That is exactly what I'm worried about. It's why I've decided to choose a battlefield much farther away."
"Where?"
The White Dragon Lord took out a map and pointed to the southern edge of the Red Lotus Continent.
"Right here."
The White Dragon Lord looked at the Black King. "After we test the new Titan Floating Tower, Breath of Extinction should also have returned according to our agreed time. When that happens, I will find an opportunity to secretly drop the two of you into the sea."
The Black King's gaze was profound. "Understood."
"Once the two of you leave," the White Dragon Lord continued, "I will steer the White Tower straight toward the Mother of Lightning's territory. Barring any accidents, the Mother of Lightning will go completely mad with anxiety. I will do my best to stall for time while you two locate the Heart of the Plane. Alright, that is my plan for this operation. Does anyone have anything to add?"
After a moment of silence, with no further suggestions from the dragons, the White Dragon Lord put away the map and steered the White Tower south toward the Red Lotus Continent.
Because they needed to pull away from the Mother of Lightning Floating Tower, the White Dragon Lord charted an exceptionally long route that cut across more than half the continent.
No longer trying to conceal itself, the White Tower tore rapidly across the sky, splitting the clouds. Seeing this, the giants on the ground frantically sought shelter. To the native inhabitants of the Sincaro Titan World, the arrival of the dragon army was a natural disaster—unstoppable and absolute.
Half a day later, the White Tower arrived at its destination. The White Dragon Lord stood in the control room at the peak of the White Tower, gazing back the way they had come.
Now, it was just a matter of seeing how the Titans would respond. With two Floating Towers at their disposal, splitting their forces was inevitable. The real questions were how much they would divide their numbers, and whether the two towers would move together.
The White Dragon Lord decided to wait for an hour. If the Titans still had not arrived by then, he would unleash a massacre and simply swagger away.
But the Titans did not disappoint him. About ten minutes later, the White Tower's alarms blared once more.
"Warning! Unknown high-energy object is approaching! Speed has reached 1,700 meters per second! Estimated contact with the White Tower in 47 seconds!"
Grasping the White Tower Control Core, the White Dragon Lord activated the Moon's Protection. The dragons all took their positions.
Seeing the White Tower hovering leisurely in the sky, the Power of Dark Erosion piloted the new Floating Tower to a halt at a safe distance. He activated a Magic Shield, and the two forces stood off from afar.
"Dragons! Get out of the Titans' world!"
The aged voice, magnified by magic, boomed with such force that the leaves on the ground trembled. The White Dragon Lord was somewhat surprised. If he remembered correctly, this was the very first time the Titan upper echelon had spoken to the dragons in this world.
At the same time, it put him slightly at ease. The fact that the Titans were taking the initiative to demand a retreat proved they had no absolute certainty of defeating the White Tower.
"No need to be so loud, old man. You might be deaf, but I'm certainly not."
The White Dragon Lord's teasing tone caused the Power of Dark Erosion to furrow his brows. He instantly judged that this was a young dragon—likely the very white dragon the Mother of Lightning had mentioned.
"Standing before you is a priest under the Lord of the Dark Titans, the Power of Dark Erosion—Padnasan Oruk."
Hmph! Trying to bait information out of me!
The White Dragon Lord scoffed inwardly. Dragons and Titans hardly made a habit of introducing themselves before waging war. Before the Titan leader volunteered his name, the White Dragon Lord hadn't known it, and the same applied in reverse.
"I am the Wings of Frost—Hebrew Socrar."
The White Dragon Lord spouted a completely fabricated name. If the Titans actually tried to investigate him using that name, they would just be spinning their wheels and wasting their resources. Thus, the White Dragon Lord's goal was perfectly achieved.
"Your Excellency Hebrew, the dragons cannot possibly achieve their goals in this world. To avoid further casualties on both sides, retreat!"
"Whether we achieve them or not isn't up to you! Words are useless! Come on! Let me see what this new Floating Tower of yours can really do!"
With that, the White Dragon Lord piloted the White Tower forward and launched an attack.
The Metamagic Railgun began to charge...
It was another explosive clash of legendary magic. The coastal landmass simply couldn't withstand the sheer intensity of the impact. The bedrock shattered, massive chunks of earth sank beneath the encroaching seawater, and the continental crust fractured. Magma surged from deep underground, intertwining with the ocean to forge bizarrely shaped new landmasses.
Winning or losing this specific battle wasn't the White Dragon Lord's primary concern. His main focus was the tactical data the opponent's Floating Tower revealed during the skirmish.
The White Dragon Lord discovered that the enemy Floating Tower was evenly matched with the White Tower in magical amplification, and its firepower was even fiercer. However, its speed and agility fell short of the White Tower's...
Ultimately, the White Dragon Lord reached a conclusion: this Floating Tower and the White Tower each had their own distinct advantages. Overall, the two structures were on par.
Half an hour later, Crimson Flame Streamer found an opening to transmit a message to the White Dragon Lord: "Amos! We can't keep fighting! If we drag this out, the other Floating Tower is going to catch up!"
"Understood!" the White Dragon Lord replied.
By now, the battle had devolved into a grinding deadlock. The opponent was attacking in a frenzy, making it difficult for the White Tower to extract itself through conventional maneuvers.
The White Dragon Lord activated his Gold Finger.
"Combat Mode activated."
A massive surge of spiritual power rippled out in all directions. It swept over the dragons, then over the violently colliding elemental magic in the air. Every minute reaction within the magic streamed directly into the White Dragon Lord's mind.
The dragons immediately noticed the White Tower growing far more nimble under the White Dragon Lord's control. Attacks that previously required defensive magic to block were now perfectly evaded through masterful flight maneuvers alone. A wave of astonishment rippled among them.
As the enemy, the Power of Dark Erosion felt this change far more viscerally than the dragons did. Not only had the White Tower's evasion suddenly spiked, but its counterattacks now felt impossible to dodge, as though it could perfectly predict his every intention.
Piloting Floating Towers in combat was akin to fighting a shootout between two moving vehicles. The towers' innate firepower and defenses were like the hardware, establishing the base performance. But beyond the hardware, the skill of the driver was a critical factor in determining the outcome.
With his Gold Finger gathering all external information for him, the White Dragon Lord was essentially a player using cheats, and he utterly decimated the veteran driver, the Power of Dark Erosion.
Under the White Dragon Lord's near-perfect piloting, the White Tower fully suppressed its opponent and broke free from the engagement.
Watching the White Tower sail off into the sky above the ocean, the Power of Dark Erosion simply didn't dare pursue. Had he not known his opponent was merely a High-Tier Legend white dragon, he would have thought some Abomination Rank powerhouse was toying with him.
After all, the stronger one was, the faster their reflexes became, naturally boosting comprehensive traits like insight. Piloting a Floating Tower was ultimately a test of that insight and reaction speed, and the White Dragon Lord's level of control had clearly surpassed the limits of a High-Tier Legend.
...
On the other side, the White Dragon Lord steered the White Tower high over the ocean, only to find many of the dragons staring intently at him.
"Why are you all staring at me?"
The White Dragon Lord called out, prompting the dragons to scatter back to their duties. They had all felt the previous fluctuation of spiritual power, but they couldn't just casually pry. After all, at the High-Tier Legend rank, who didn't have a few trump cards and hidden secrets?
It was just that the White Dragon Lord's trump card was utterly shocking. The same reflexes used to maneuver a Floating Tower would be tremendously effective in one-on-one combat.
Crimson Flame Streamer, who had a restless personality and was on quite good terms with the White Dragon Lord, sidled up with a grin and whispered, "Amos, is that trump card of yours something you can teach? I'll trade you something really good for it."
The White Dragon Lord rolled his eyes. "It can't be taught, and it can't be talked about."
The dragons eavesdropping with pricked ears felt a wave of disappointment. Crimson Flame Streamer didn't pester him any further either. Being on good terms was one thing, but shamelessly prying into someone's deep secrets was another entirely.
The White Dragon Lord steered the White Tower toward the Mother of Lightning's territory. After they flew for a while, a pulse of magical energy rippled from the White Tower's Teleportation Chamber.
Breath of Extinction had returned.
At that moment, Breath of Extinction seemed like a sage who had seen through the very nature of the world. Even knowing he was about to execute a suicide mission, his emotions remained completely unruffled.
"My apologies for keeping everyone waiting."
The White Dragon Lord didn't waste time on idle chatter, cutting straight to the point.
"Senior Breath of Extinction, may we begin?"
"We may."
Incantations flew rapidly from the mouth of the White Dragon Lord's soul.
High Tier Soul Magic—Soul Absorption Concealment!
A thin membrane forged of Soul Energy enveloped the two dragons. This layer of Soul Energy could mask both their elemental and soul fluctuations, drastically increasing their chances of evading the Titans' tracking.
"You two, I don't know what methods the Titans are using to track us. This is all I can do for you. I wish you good luck."
Even though they couldn't see or feel anything, their dragon instincts told them that an extra layer of protection now shrouded their bodies.
"Good luck to you as well, Amos," the Black King said. "Goodbye."
Breath of Extinction gave the White Dragon Lord a long, deep look. "Perhaps it is best if we never meet again."
The White Dragon Lord knew exactly what Breath of Extinction meant. Their next meeting would be within Tiamat's Divine Kingdom. The ancient dragon was wishing that the White Dragon Lord could cross the threshold of the Abomination Rank and attain eternal life.
The two dragons flew out of the White Tower and plunged straight into the sea. The White Dragon Lord muttered to himself as he watched the ripples spreading across the water.
"But that threshold doesn't even exist for me. I really wish time would just pass a little faster."
Nearby, Crimson Flame Streamer caught the White Dragon Lord muttering. "Amos, what did you say?"
"Nothing. Let's discuss how we're going to strip the Mother of Lightning's base clean."
"But the Mother of Lightning isn't dead," Crimson Flame Streamer noted. "Plus, considering our frantic pillaging lately, a lot of the Titans have already packed up their wealth and relocated. The Mother of Lightning is definitely prepared as well."
Remembering how their recent hauls had indeed been less bountiful than their earlier ones—mostly precious metals like gold and silver, with very few premium magical items—the White Dragon Lord nodded in agreement.
"Fair point. Then let's just turn her home upside down."
"Hehehe, now that's an idea I like."
Among the three continents of the Sincaro Titan World, the Mother of Lightning's territory was the only untouched land that had yet to suffer the calamity of the dragons. Now, the giants of this land finally met their most terrifying nightmare.
The dragons laid waste to the land. Only the Floating Tower piloted by the Power of Dark Erosion could somewhat hinder them, and the clashes between the two sides battered the landscape of the Sincaro Titan World, leaving it riddled with scars.
To avoid being pincered by two Floating Towers, the White Dragon Lord steered the White Tower back and forth across the three continents, stalling for time and providing cover for the Black King and Breath of Extinction's operation.
In the eyes of most Titans, however, this looked like the White Tower was being chased away, fleeing in all directions. Only a handful of wise Titans realized that if things continued this way, the Sincaro Titan World would sooner or later be utterly destroyed by the dragons.
This continued until one day, more than half a month later, when a bolt of lightning suddenly cleaved through the cloudless sky. Bearing a might that surpassed most Forbidden Spells, the lightning fell like divine punishment, striking squarely into the ocean at the heart of the three continents.
The Power of Dark Erosion stared at the sky-tearing lightning in sheer disbelief, his throat going dry.
"World-Warning Thunder?!"
