White Dragon Lord
Chapter 314: Fierce Battle with the Frost Titan
Seeing the situation at Mine Pit No. 2, the word "conspiracy" flashed through the White Dragon Lord's mind. He quickly swept the surrounding area with a spiritual Scan but found absolutely nothing. On the other side, the stalkers continued to creep forward in stealth.
In a split second, the White Dragon Lord calmly analyzed the situation. The enemy's assault was timed perfectly to coincide with their own engagement against the Frost Titan. He absolutely refused to believe this was a mere coincidence.
If it wasn't a coincidence, then the enemy must have known the Floating Tower's location.
Could it have been the Dark Inkstone Mine?!
The humans occupying the Dark Inkstone Mine weren't some minor faction—they were members of Little Finger. They must have rushed back to sound the alarm the moment they spotted the Floating Tower.
That was the only possibility. The White Dragon Lord gritted his teeth and cursed softly.
"Damn it!"
A fierce debate raged in the White Dragon Lord's mind: should they continue the fight here, or fall back to reinforce Mine Pit No. 2?
But even if he and his allies tried to pull out, would the Frost Titan just let the matter rest?
If the Frost Titan pulled even a minor trick to disrupt the energy balance during the Floating Tower's teleportation, he could hurl the entire tower into the turbulent spatial currents. The White Dragon Lord didn't dare take that gamble. He had to abandon Mine Pit No. 2.
"To the garrison at Mine Pit No. 2: strong enemies have invaded! Retreat to No. 3 Mine Pit!"
After sending the message to the team stationed at Mine Pit No. 2, the White Dragon Lord shifted his gaze back to the main battlefield.
Down below, backed by the Cat-Woman's heavy firepower, the Ancient Gold Dragon was pummeling the Frost Titan, leaving the giant battered and struggling to hold his ground.
'I'll just have to recoup the losses of Mine Pit No. 2 from your corpse.'
With that thought, the White Dragon Lord gripped the Control Core. He channeled a surge of mana through his dragon claw, using a sliver of his own power as a primer to mobilize the energy within the Floating Tower's Elemental Pool, which in turn leveraged the infinite elements of the outside world.
This process acted as a double lever: a tiny spark of mana could manipulate massive volumes of ambient elements. Even if the spell failed, the resulting magical backlash would be absorbed entirely by the Magic Tower. Therefore, the White Dragon Lord could cast his spells with absolute impunity.
As he chanted an arcane incantation, a beam of white light shot toward the Frost Titan. It pierced straight through the Ancient Gold Dragon's Dragon Breath and plunged into the titan's body with blinding speed.
Legendary magic—Dimensional Lock!
Dimensional Lock disrupted the spatial energy surrounding a target, making teleportation impossible.
To ensure the titan couldn't escape the bounds of the Dimensional Anchor, the White Dragon Lord deliberately followed up with a Dimensional Lock.
The Frost Titan's expression warped violently. He recognized the Dimensional Lock, and despair crushed the escape plans he had just begun formulating!
"Ahhhhh!!!!"
An endless Cold Wave erupted outward with the Frost Titan at its epicenter. Like a detonating bomb, the blast instantly swept away all the moisture in the air.
The Ancient Gold Dragon flapped its wings and ascended into the sky, while the Cat-Woman temporarily retreated to avoid the brunt of the blast. Such a high-intensity outburst couldn't last forever. Once this explosive phase passed, it would be the Frost Titan's time to die. There was no need to clash with him head-on while he was desperate.
Sensing that this Cold Wave nearly rivaled his own full-power eruptions, a flicker of wariness crossed the White Dragon Lord's eyes. He rapidly chanted a string of incantations.
Ice Elemental Resistance!
Winter's Protection!
Overflowing Mana Shield!
He tossed defensive spell after defensive spell onto his two teammates. A cornered beast's desperate counterattack was always the most dangerous, and the White Dragon Lord had no intention of letting his allies fall into peril through his own negligence.
The potent defensive magic set the Cat-Woman and the Ancient Gold Dragon at ease. Floating in the empty air, the Cat-Woman's lips moved in a rapid chant.
Seeing that she was preparing a killing blow, the Ancient Gold Dragon shielded the Cat-Woman behind its massive body, drew in a sharp breath, and unleashed a torrent of Dragon Breath.
The ice-blue Cold Wave and the ancient gold, glass-like breath collided in midair. Extreme cold met extreme heat, triggering a fierce, crackling chain of explosions.
The two diametrically opposed energies clashed and annihilated one another, generating a blinding flash of light that lit up the Luoduoluo Plane's dim sky like lightning on a rainy night.
Driven to the brink, the Frost Titan unleashed strength far beyond his normal limits. He actually began suppressing the magic-buffed Ancient Gold Dragon, forcing the golden streams of fire further and further backward under the pressure of his Cold Wave.
"Move!"
Hearing the Cat-Woman's sharp command, the Ancient Gold Dragon breathed a sigh of relief and hurriedly sidestepped out of the way.
The Cat-Woman stared down the incoming Cold Wave. She leveled her staff, which looked like a withered vine, directly at the Frost Titan. A massive, pitch-black orb of energy—one that looked as though it could devour all life—blasted toward the giant.
Vitality Annihilation Cannon!
The highly compressed shell of death energy locked onto the Frost Titan below. It punched straight through the ice-blue Cold Wave, carving a pitch-black tunnel through the frost.
The moment the Vitality Annihilation Cannon fired, the hairs on the Frost Titan's body stood on end. Ever since stepping into the ranks of High-Tier Legends, he hadn't felt such an intense threat of death in years.
'Damn it! How does a druid who plays with vines possess such powerful death energy?!'
The Frost Titan didn't know the answer, but he knew for a fact that if that death energy hit him, he would never get the chance to ask.
But having been a High-Tier Legend for years, who didn't possess a few life-saving trump cards?
Not daring to take any chances, the Frost Titan immediately triggered his failsafe. On his bulging, vein-lined wrist, an ice-crystal bracelet began to shimmer.
Three ice-blue portals materialized in the path of the Vitality Annihilation Cannon. Intricate, mystical patterns were carved into their frames, while the center of each door featured a different monstrous head relief. The three monsters roared, smiled eerily, and stared blankly, respectively, projecting an aura of mystery and majesty.
Even with the White Dragon Lord's terrifying reserves of knowledge, he couldn't identify the origins of this magic.
The Vitality Annihilation Cannon struck the first portal. The terrifying death energy instantly erupted without any grand sound or visual effects; the first door simply disintegrated in absolute silence, scattering away into the air.
Right on its heels, the now substantially shrunken Vitality Annihilation Cannon slammed into the second door. The highly compressed death energy instantly dyed the ice-blue portal pitch-black. Though it teetered on the very verge of collapse, the second door successfully blocked the blast.
The White Dragon Lord's eyes lit up as he looked at the completely undamaged third door.
The Vitality Annihilation Cannon was one of the Cat-Woman's signature skills. More than a handful of High-Tier Legends had met a bitter end against this exact move. The fact that this magic could block the cannon and still have a door to spare proved just how extraordinary it truly was.
His mind raced, but his hands weren't idle. The White Dragon Lord triggered a specific seal within the Control Core.
Inside the Floating Tower, a magical formation hummed to life. It extracted highly concentrated elemental power from the Elemental Pool. The liquid energy, thick and viscous as oil, surged up the energy conduits and poured endlessly into the spinning Alchemical Crystal at the tower's peak.
Fueled by the massive influx of magical energy, the Alchemical Crystal glowed with an eerie purple radiance, pulsing with terrifying energy fluctuations.
Finally, the energy density within the Alchemical Crystal hit its absolute peak. A purple ray the thickness of the White Dragon Lord's finger shot toward the Frost Titan. Black lightning coiled around the beam—bizarre, dangerous, and mysterious.
Super-Magic Piercing Ray!
Naturally, such a colossal Floating Tower was more than a simple magical amplifier. It also possessed its own built-in spells, and the Super-Magic Piercing Ray was one of them, boasting a might comparable to a Forbidden Spell.
The instant the Super-Magic Piercing Ray fired, the Frost Titan's scalp went numb. He quickly sidestepped to dodge.
But the ray's defining traits were its supreme penetrative power and blinding speed. Even though the Frost Titan sensed the danger, his physical reactions simply couldn't keep up.
The ray instantly punched through the remaining two doors. The Frost Titan's evasion did afford him some small mercy; the beam, initially aimed at his heart, struck his arm instead. It left behind a charred, smoking, bloody hole before sinking deep into the earth, boring a bottomless pit into the ground.
'Crap!'
A wave of numbness spread from his wound, plunging the Frost Titan into despair.
Far more severe than the physical injury was the energy damage inflicted by the Super-Magic Piercing Ray. The highly destructive residual mana continuously wreaked havoc inside his body, causing sharp pain, disrupted mana circulation, and creeping numbness.
Seeing the Ancient Gold Dragon's Dragon Breath fast approaching, the Frost Titan had no time to inspect his wound. He immediately activated the magic ring on his finger.
A cluster of gentle energy enveloped him, dispelling his negative status effects. He then hurriedly cast a spell to block the Ancient Gold Dragon's Dragon Breath.
But after unleashing two ultimate moves and taking a heavy hit, the Frost Titan's explosive phase had definitively passed. The three allies coordinated seamlessly, chaining attack after attack to deny him any chance to catch his breath.
Yet, to ensure the Frost Titan couldn't drag any of them down in a dying counterattack, Amos and his group maintained a steady, cautious offensive.
After a relentless group beating, the Ancient Gold Dragon's attacks finally forced an opening. The White Dragon Lord seized the chance to lock the titan's movements down with ice magic. The Cat-Woman delivered the killing blow, sinking a blast of death energy directly into him. Encased in ice, the Frost Titan's vitality was instantly stripped away.
A High-Tier Legend, the Frost Titan—Prudhomme the Ice-Bound—had fallen!
The ice-encased Frost Titan plummeted from the sky like a kite with a snapped string. His massive body slammed brutally into the magic-ravaged, cratered ground, shattering the ice into a million fragments.
Amid the flying shards, the titan's grayish-white corpse rolled twice before coming to a stop on its back. His clouded eyes stared lifelessly at the sky, refusing to close even in death.
The hatred between dragons and titans ran extraordinarily deep—the relationship was even more hostile than the animosity between the Japanese and the Chinese during the War of Resistance. Seeing their mortal enemy lying dead brought a deep, satisfying comfort to both dragons.
But the White Dragon Lord's work wasn't finished.
Soul-Seizing Hand!
A massive, transparent hand reached out of the void and snatched the titan's soul just as it drifted from the corpse. The soul struggled and roared in terror, but the White Dragon Lord ruthlessly dragged it into a Soul Crystal.
"His Majesty Astraeus will not let you off!"
The Frost Titan's furious roar echoed in his ears right before the soul was fully sealed away, but the White Dragon Lord merely scoffed.
"Hmph!"
"He was never going to let me off in the first place."
The initially flawless, transparent Soul Crystal flickered a few times before taking on the appearance of brilliant starlight. Satisfied, the White Dragon Lord tucked it away.
With the hostile High-Tier Legend dead and the danger eliminated, the legendary powerhouses swarmed out and flew toward the collapsed mine. Meanwhile, the Floating Tower slowly descended toward the ground.
Boom!
Once the Floating Tower touched down, the White Dragon Lord flew out and headed toward the titan's corpse. The Ancient Gold Dragon and the Cat-Woman were already waiting there.
The boss was dead; it was time to loot the body!
The White Dragon Lord landed on the ground, folding his bat-like dragon wings neatly against his back.
Seeing that everyone had gathered, the Ancient Gold Dragon immediately began inspecting the titan's corpse. In the end, it retrieved five rings, an ice-crystal bracelet, and an assortment of miscellaneous items from the body.
After stripping the titan clean, the group piled the loot on the ground and began examining the value of each piece.
The White Dragon Lord picked up the ice-crystal bracelet.
Scan!
[Name]: Sadolina's Bracelet (Pseudo)
[Description]: In ancient times, the beloved daughter of the Ice Goddess—Sadolina—was approaching adulthood. Like all mothers, the Ice Goddess prepared a coming-of-age gift for her daughter. The Divine Artifact—[Sadolina's Bracelet]—was the gift she presented. The bracelet in your hand is a failed prototype of that Divine Artifact. Even as a failure, its value far exceeds that of ordinary Legendary equipment.
Spells attached to the bracelet:
[Blessing of the Ice Goddess]: A passive blessing. The wearer of this bracelet becomes a darling of ice and snow. Grants a massive boost to Ice Elemental affinity and significantly increases the power of ice-type magic.
[Gate of the Ice Beast]: An active-trigger Forbidden Spell-tier defensive magic. Summons three Gates of the Ice Beast to block the user's front, capable of repelling both physical and energy attacks; Cooldown: 30 days.
[Spear of the Ice Goddess] (Pseudo): Summons a spear imbued with the divine power of the Ice Goddess that can be wielded as a weapon. A failed version of the Forbidden Spell—Spear of the Ice Goddess, possessing only the might of legendary magic; Cooldown: 7 days.
Reading the bracelet's description, the White Dragon Lord took a deep breath. To think it was a gift personally forged by a deity for her beloved daughter. What a pity that an error occurred during the enchanting of the [Spear of the Ice Goddess]. The Ice Goddess had abandoned this bracelet, leaving the subsequent steps unfinished. Thus, it remained merely an outrageously good piece of Legendary equipment.
Of course, according to the grading systems of many planes, [Sadolina's Bracelet (Pseudo)] could absolutely be classified as a Demigod Artifact. However, Nordhill had no "demigod artifact" tier.
After explaining the bracelet's value to the Cat-Woman and the Ancient Gold Dragon, the White Dragon Lord placed it back on the ground.
No matter how close their relationship was, loot distribution had to be strictly business. This was the only way to maximize fairness and prevent any lingering grudges between friends over an unequal split.
The White Dragon Lord proceeded to inspect the other gear.
Out of the five rings, one was a token of some faction, and another was a magical curiosity—judging by the magical illusion of a female titan recorded inside, it was likely a wedding band or a token of love. Two were top-grade Legendary equipment, and the final one was a storage-type magical wonder: a spatial ring.
Yet, none of the three were particularly interested in the spatial ring. Nordhill's level of magical civilization far outstripped that of the titan's home plane. High-tier storage bags not only boasted larger capacities but could also merge directly into their master's body to act as a portable pocket dimension.
A spatial ring was far too weak by comparison.
The ring's interior, however, held five pieces of ordinary Legendary equipment, along with a jumbled mess of sundries, magical materials, and scrolls. Some items were even stained with blood, likely plundered from whoever the Frost Titan had robbed.
Big fish ate the little fish, and bigger fish ate the big fish. Such was the current reality of the Luoduoluo Plane.
With the appraisal complete, it became clear that this titan was far wealthier than the mutated beast High-Tier Legend they had butchered previously. After all, mutated beasts were wild animals by birth, whereas titans were social creatures. It was only natural for them to boast deeper pockets.
"Indeed, murder and arson bring gold belts."
