White Dragon Lord

Chapter 301: Moon Elf Banshee

  • Next Chapter

After some discussion, the four high-tier legends decided the main force would temporarily remain here while the White Dragon Lord and Knight Magellan ventured out to find someone to interrogate.

Aside from the lich in the Bone Tower, there shouldn't be any other high-tier legends in this plane. The White Dragon Lord and Magellan discussed it and decided to split up.

Knight Magellan took Mage Teresa and headed west, while the White Dragon Lord flew east alone.

The Necromantic Plane held other undead creatures besides the lich. Skeletons and zombies wandered aimlessly across the land, translucent ghosts drifted a few meters above the ground, and mid-tier undead like skeleton knights occasionally appeared.

These low- and mid-tier undead were not the White Dragon Lord's targets. He was looking for sufficiently powerful undead, at least at the Master Tier. Such undead typically possessed enough intelligence to know something about the outside world.

Generally speaking, a powerful entity occupied the center of any territory. Based on the strength distribution of the undead across the land, the White Dragon Lord deduced the location of this region's leader.

Soon, the White Dragon Lord spotted a death knight riding a nightmare warhorse, surrounded by dozens of mid- and high-tier undead like stars surrounding the moon.

This was a Master Tier death knight!

Having found a valuable target, the White Dragon Lord swooped down from the sky.

Simultaneously, ice surged from thin air beneath the feet of all the undead. Like growing plants, the frost encased them before they could react. Even the Master Tier death knight and his steed were frozen solid; with only his upper half exposed, he looked around in terror.

The White Dragon Lord landed in front of the frozen death knight with a heavy thud, his massive bulk crushing a dozen of the trapped undead. Ice and bone shattered across the ground. The White Dragon Lord ignored the ordinary undead; he looked down at the death knight and extended a dragon claw.

With a thought, a terrifying suction force erupted from his claw. Silver threads of soul power seeped out from the frozen ordinary undead, swirling and gathering into a small ball in the palm of the White Dragon Lord's claw.

Now, out of the dozens of undead, only the death knight remained alive. Even the nightmare warhorse beneath him had its soul extracted, reducing it to an empty husk.

The death knight was horrified, realizing this was a powerful entity he could not afford to provoke.

As the White Dragon Lord inhaled the pure soul power from his hand through his nostrils, he observed the death knight. He saw fear in its eyes.

Excellent!

Since it could feel fear, it meant the death knight before him possessed a degree of intelligence and could communicate.

"I ask! You answer!"

The White Dragon Lord didn't give the death knight time to react, asking directly.

"Do you know of the tall tower forged from white bones?"

His voice carried a special magic that shocked the death knight's soul. The death knight snapped out of its daze and nodded frantically.

"I know it! Isaac! That is the residence of the Lord of the World, King of Liches, and Sovereign of Death—Isaac Hill."

"Isaac Hill?!"

Only now did the White Dragon Lord learn the lich's name. He muttered to himself.

"What an arrogant fool."

Leaving aside the title of Lord of the World, the White Dragon Lord sneered at Isaac's titles of 'King of Liches' and 'Sovereign of Death.' A mere High-Tier Legend dared to call himself the King of Liches and the Sovereign of Death?!

Never mind those ancient liches who had hidden in the Star Realm for hundreds of thousands of years; even The Witherer of the Cult of the Dragon was more than a cut above Isaac.

Perhaps this lich had already begun to go mad, the White Dragon Lord thought.

"How much do you know about the Tower of Bones and Isaac?"

"Respected dragon, my strength is low. I only know that Lord Isaac is the master of this world and the Tower of Bones is his palace. I don't know anything else."

The White Dragon Lord had just been testing his luck; he never expected to get high-value information from an ordinary death knight.

"Which direction is the nearest legendary powerhouse?"

The death knight turned his head toward a towering mountain range.

"Right in the Floating Nether Mountain Range. The place is very hidden; I am willing to lead the way for you."

The White Dragon Lord couldn't help but give the death knight a second look. He hadn't expected him to be this smart.

Originally, the white dragon had planned to kill the death knight right after finding out the legendary powerhouse's location. Now he changed his mind; such a smart soul was suitable to be a puppet's soul.

"Very good!"

The White Dragon Lord took out a transparent crystal and sucked the death knight's soul into it. He planned to use it to create a puppet, which would be perfect for commanding the mining puppets.

As for leading the way?!

There was no need!

He only needed the general direction!

The White Dragon Lord trusted his own eyes more than the death knight. He flapped his wings and flew toward the Floating Nether Mountain Range.

Soul Sight!

In the White Dragon Lord's vision, the world seemed to be covered by a thin veil. The souls inside the undead were like fireflies in the dark; the stronger the soul, the brighter the light. The soul of a legendary powerhouse was as bright as a lightbulb.

It didn't take long for the White Dragon Lord to spot his target.

Even the White Dragon Lord couldn't afford to be careless against a Legendary Rank Level undead. He cast a spell to conceal his aura and flew silently toward the target.

A moment later, the White Dragon Lord laid eyes on his target.

The target was a Legendary Rank Level banshee. Her faint blue soul body drifted through the valley. Looking at her dress and pointed ears, she must have been an elf in life.

Catching sight of the ruined elven-style architecture in the valley, the White Dragon Lord confirmed his guess.

The White Dragon Lord stopped flapping his wings and switched to the Flight spell to reduce the noise of his approach, quietly closing in on the banshee.

The banshee remained completely unaware of the approaching danger.

Once he was close enough, the White Dragon Lord unleashed a roar at the leisurely wandering banshee.

Shattering Roar!

Only then did the banshee notice the hidden White Dragon, but it was too late to flee. She let out a piercing screech.

Banshee's Howl!

The terrifying ring-shaped sonic wave struck the banshee. Her aura immediately withered, and she floated motionless in the air. Shattering Roar was a Soul Magic the White Dragon Lord had adapted from the Banshee's Howl, possessing the ability to shock the soul.

While the banshee was shocked, the genuine Banshee's Howl also hit the White Dragon Lord. But knowing his opponent was a banshee, how could the White Dragon Lord not be prepared for her signature ability?

The Banshee's Howl rippled against the White Dragon Lord's magical defenses. Completely unharmed, he rapidly chanted a spell.

Soul-Seizing Hand!

A giant soul hand reached out from the void, grabbed the banshee's soul body, and dragged her before the White Dragon Lord.

As a purely soul-based undead, the banshee possessed immense soul strength and an innate resistance to Soul Magic. She quickly snapped awake and struggled within the giant soul hand.

The White Dragon Lord continuously poured in soul power, making the illusory soul hand more solid. The banshee's struggles grew stronger and increasingly frantic as she clawed, bit, scratched, and pinched.

The banshee's crimson eyes looked like those of a rabid beast.

Seeing this, the White Dragon Lord frowned. This banshee appeared to be mad.

He probed deeply into the banshee's soul body and found that the death energy inside her severely exceeded normal limits; her mind had already been corrupted by it.

It seemed this banshee had existed for a very long time. She might have even been born when the lich destroyed the world.

He had finally managed to catch a Legendary Rank banshee, only to find she was an uncommunicative lunatic. The White Dragon Lord was about to wipe away her consciousness and use her as the core for a Legendary Rank Puppet.

Suddenly, he thought of the Cat-Woman. Perhaps the Cat-Woman had a way to restore the banshee's sanity. The White Dragon Lord took out a crystal bottle.

Bottle of Soul Imprisonment!

The Bottle of Soul Imprisonment was an alchemical item specifically designed to trap souls. After stuffing the banshee inside, the White Dragon Lord flew back toward the temporary camp.

All undead creatures would inevitably be eroded by death energy. A High-Tier Legend could merely hold out longer, unless they broke through the High-Tier Legend rank and attained power rivaling a deity with Faint Divine Power.

Only at that point would an undead creature truly live up to the title of being "undying."

Half an hour later, the White Dragon Lord returned to the camp.

"Master Hajir, I caught a Legendary Rank banshee, but she's been corrupted by death energy and has lost her sanity."

"Oh?! Let me see."

The White Dragon Lord took out the crystal bottle containing the banshee and set it on the ground. This bottle had been crafted to fit the White Dragon Lord's massive size, so it was much taller than the 1.4-meter-tall Cat-Woman.

The Cat-Woman circled the crystal bottle, observing the banshee as she battered against the crystal.

"How rare. This banshee is quite old indeed; her sanity is almost completely worn away."

Losing one's reason was the beginning of oblivion. For this banshee to have survived to the point where her sanity had almost vanished was truly a miracle.

The White Dragon Lord recalled the valley where the banshee had been wandering. There were some collapsed ruins in that valley. Perhaps it was a lingering attachment to her homeland that kept this mad banshee from leaving the valley and getting herself killed.

Priest Sinod, who was standing nearby, spoke up.

"Does Master Hajir have a solution?"

If a banshee who might have lived through the Necromantic Plane as the sea turns into mulberry fields could regain her sanity, she would be a talking living fossil. That would bring immense convenience to their upcoming operations.

The Cat-Woman nodded.

"There is one way. I can convert the death energy in her body into life energy to reduce the concentration of death energy. However, she most likely won't be able to endure the pain and might collapse during the conversion process."

The Cat-Woman looked at the White Dragon Lord. After all, this was his spoils of war, and a Legendary Rank Level banshee held no small value.

"Just go ahead and do it, Master. It's only a Legendary Rank banshee."

The White Dragon Lord indeed didn't care about a single Legendary Rank banshee. The Soul Cores used to create his eight Diamond Golems were all Legendary Rank Level souls. Well... he had bought those.

Seeing the White Dragon Lord agree, the Cat-Woman nodded.

"Then please take her out, Your Excellency Amos. I can't cast the spell through the crystal bottle."

The White Dragon Lord first used a Soul Magic to stun the banshee. Then, he lifted the magical restriction on the stopper, uncorked the bottle, and used the Soul-Seizing Hand to pull her out.

The Cat-Woman placed her paw on top of the struggling banshee's head, and the conversion began.

The banshee immediately shrieked, struggling even harder. The White Dragon Lord increased his output of soul power.

Life energy was like poison to the undead. It clashed against and neutralized the death energy in the banshee's body. If the Cat-Woman hadn't been carefully controlling the pace, the banshee's soul body would have instantly shattered.

Taking the banshee's endurance into account, they couldn't convert too much at once, so the process naturally slowed down.

Time slowly ticked by.

The banshee's struggles grew weaker, and her screeches lost their previous vigor. Correspondingly, the concentration of death energy within her began to drop. The crimson in her eyes gradually faded, returning a sliver of clarity.

"Who are you? Where am I?"

A female voice as clear as a lark rang out in everyone's minds. Seeing the confusion in the banshee's eyes, the group breathed a sigh of relief.

The banshee had recovered her sanity!

The Cat-Woman wiped the sweat from her forehead. This conversion was like a surgery. Killing a person only took one strike, but saving one required many, and each had to be executed with extreme precision. As the lead surgeon, the Cat-Woman naturally suffered the greatest exhaustion.

Next was the White Dragon Lord. His exhaustion lay in his soul power, which wasn't visible on the surface.

While maintaining the soul hand, the White Dragon Lord answered the banshee's question.

"Where you are, I don't know either. As for who we are, that's a bit complicated. We couldn't finish telling you even if we talked all day."

"So, why don't you answer my questions first? Tell us everything you know about the lich Isaac Hill."

Hearing Isaac Hill's name triggered the elf banshee's past memories. She immediately grew agitated. Her expression twisted, incredible hatred exploding in her eyes, and she struggled violently within the soul hand.

The White Dragon Lord stabilized the soul hand to prevent her from doing anything drastic while explaining.

"Calm down! Calm down! We are here to cause trouble for Isaac Hill and avenge your world."

Hearing this, the banshee's struggles weakened. Her expression shifted between anger and pleasant surprise as she asked excitedly.

"Really?! Are you truly here to avenge our world?"

In truth, we're just here to steal Isaac's territory.

But looking at the hope in the banshee's eyes, the White Dragon Lord just couldn't bring himself to say it.

"Yes! Isaac must die!"

The White Dragon Lord said with absolute certainty.

The banshee's emotions gradually stabilized, and she quickly thought through the cause and effect of the situation. She had been an important figure among the elves in life, after all; she had merely been too agitated to think rationally just now.

The White Dragon Lord was lying to her, but she didn't care, because one thing he said wasn't a lie: Isaac must die!

That was enough!

"Let me go."

"I can, but you must promise not to run away."

"Don't worry. Until I see Isaac die with my own eyes, I will absolutely not leave you."

At the mention of Isaac, the hatred radiating from the banshee surged endlessly like the ocean.

Figuring as much, the White Dragon Lord released her.

The banshee stood on the ground and first looked down at her current appearance, a touch of sorrow surfacing in her eyes. Then, she tucked away her grief, lifted the hem of her dress, and bowed slightly to everyone present.

"Good afternoon, visitors from another world. I am the Moon Elf, Heloise Percy."
