White Dragon Lord
Chapter 200: Hunting the Demonized Coyote
Prince Silver Deer coughed a few times, pushing down his awkwardness before continuing.
"Lord Willy, the Kingdom of Pavlan is willing to offer 300 million gold coins for your assistance."
300 million gold coins?!
Willy couldn't resist the temptation of that much gold.
"Alright! I accept!"
The White Dragon Lord felt a flare of displeasure at Prince Silver Deer's scheming. He had seized upon the Dragon race's weakness for wealth. If Willy went to the Kingdom of Pavlan, there was no way the White Dragon Lord would let him go alone.
This way, the Kingdom of Pavlan indirectly achieved its goal.
However, Prince Silver Deer also knew this behavior would incur the White Dragon Lord's displeasure, which was why he had proactively added 100 million gold coins to the offer.
The White Dragon Lord spoke to Willy.
"Since you are going, take some helpers with you. Select the personnel yourself."Hearing this, Prince Silver Deer breathed a sigh of relief and spoke.
"Then let us depart at once, Lord Willy. Those demonized beasts are truly despicable. I cannot wait to see you freeze them into blocks of ice."
His goal achieved, Prince Silver Deer hurriedly urged them to set out. The Kingdom of Pavlan truly could not afford to wait any longer.
The White Dragon Lord watched Willy's retreating back and muttered to himself.
"It is good for him to go out and get some practice."
For a long time, the White Dragon Lord had carried the banner in the dangerous battles the white dragons faced, with the Dragon Brother and Dragon Sister merely assisting from the sidelines. Now that the younger siblings were steadily growing stronger, it was time for them to face the storms on their own.
"Yuir! Follow him and protect Willy from the shadows."
A six-meter-long black panther emerged from the White Dragon Lord's shadow.
"Yes!"
The Nether Panther turned into a black shadow, chasing after Prince Silver Deer like a phantom.
Ever since returning to Nordhill, Yuir had been the White Dragon Lord's personal bodyguard, consistently merged into Amos's shadow.
Even Master Horace, a Legendary Mage, had failed to discover the black panther hiding in the shadow during his close-range contact with the white dragon. Yuir's concealment abilities were evident.
With Yuir protecting him from the shadows, the White Dragon Lord no longer worried about Willy's safety. If careless, even a High-Tier Legend would meet a bitter end beneath the Nether Panther's claws; after all, their necks did not have hard scales like the White Dragon Lord's.
...
A week later.
Kingdom of Rowe.
In the forest outside Stan City, which had a permanent population of ten thousand, a wolf-like demonized beast was gnawing on an elk.
Although demonized beasts were infected by the abyssal aura, losing emotions like fear and dread and becoming crazed and bloodthirsty, they were fundamentally still creatures of flesh and blood. They needed to eat to have enough strength to slaughter.
While the wolf-like demonized creature was gorging itself, a gnoll scout who had heard the elk's screams hurried over following the sound, swiftly identifying the wolf-like demonized creature's species—a coyote.
The gnoll scout carefully backed away without alerting the feeding Demonized Coyote. He arrived at a temporary camp and reported to a strong gnoll who was picking his teeth with a grass root.
"Captain, I found a Demonized Coyote."
The gnoll captain, possessing High Tier strength, calculated in his mind: a normal coyote's Creature Level was Level 3, and even if it were fully demonized, its strength would not exceed High Tier.
The strength of a demonized creature depended solely on its species and degree of demonization. Generally speaking, the stronger the species, the harder it was for them to be infected by the abyssal aura.
Therefore, demonized beasts that rivaled the Legendary Rank were extremely rare.
The gnoll captain felt his squad could kill this coyote without casualties, so he patted his rear and stood up from the ground.
"Brothers! There's work to do!"
Hearing the captain's voice, the dozen or so gnolls resting on the ground grabbed their weapons and stood up.
The gnoll captain waved a large hand.
"Let's go!"
The dozen gnolls walked toward the coyote. Unlike the scout's caution, the gnoll squad was completely brazen, without the slightest thought of concealing their tracks.
Because there was no need. Once a demonized creature spotted a living being, it could not resist its bloodthirsty instincts, launching an attack on any non-kin it saw.
Before long, the still-feeding Demonized Coyote appeared in the gnolls' line of sight.
The gnoll captain nodded, and a gnoll hunter stuck two fingers into his mouth, blowing a whistle.
The sharp whistling sound caught the Demonized Coyote's attention, and the coyote raised its head from the prey's abdominal cavity.
The hair on the black Demonized Coyote's head was stained with bright red, steaming blood, and its scarlet eyes radiated a bloodthirsty light.
Roar!
The fearless demonized creature let out a violent roar and charged at the gnoll squad.
The gnoll captain shouted loudly.
"Scatter! Be careful not to get scratched by it, otherwise you can only pray not to get infected."
The gnoll captain tightened his grip on his large sword and stood at the front of the formation. The other gnolls also gripped their weapons, making preparations for battle.
The first to act were the rogues holding crossbows and the hunters holding hunting bows.
Seeing the Demonized Coyote enter attack range, the gnoll rogues pulled their triggers, and the gnoll hunters released their fully drawn bowstrings.
The sharp, barbed iron arrows pierced the air, flying toward the rapidly running Demonized Coyote.
Most of the arrows missed. Only one or two struck the coyote, but they were blocked by its demonization-hardened hide.
The inherently fiery-tempered Demonized Coyote was enraged by the sudden attack, becoming even more frantic. Before it even got close, it opened its mouth, revealing sharp fangs.
Foul-smelling saliva flowed from the gaps in its interlocking fangs, flung behind by the rapidly running coyote.
The hunters only had time to shoot a second round of arrows before the Demonized Coyote charged to a short distance away.
The tall gnoll captain held the arm bound with a round shield across the front of his body, let out a loud roar, and initiated a charge toward the Demonized Coyote.
The other gnolls followed closely behind, moving to encircle the coyote.
The three-meter-long coyote slammed headfirst into the shield. The massive impact forced the gnoll captain to step back several paces.
But he was not fighting alone. The gnoll hunters threw out their throwing nets, snaring the slightly dazed coyote and pinning it to the ground. The other gnolls thrust out the spears in their hands.
The irrational Demonized Coyote let out an angry roar, struggling with all its might. The gnolls felt a tremendous force travel up the spears, unable to resist letting go.
By this time, the gnoll captain had recovered from the impact. He thrust his large sword straight forward, piercing through the throwing net, and plunged it into the roaring mouth of the Demonized Coyote.
At the exact same moment, a rogue's crossbow bolt shot into the coyote's eye, sinking all the way to the hilt.
Suffering such heavy damage, even the powerful vitality of the Demonized Coyote could not withstand it. After struggling a few times, it turned into a stiff corpse.
"Hahaha."
The gnolls laughed happily. The bounty for a coyote with High Tier strength like this would be enough for them to stock up on more good equipment.
Stepping on the coyote's head, the gnoll captain pulled his sword from the coyote's mouth, and foul, black demon blood surged out.
"Brothers, haul it back."
