Chapter 1586 -1585: No Bullets in the Gun

Little girl, these two words made Grayson Knight pause!

For a moment, he forgot about the black pistol aimed at him, a gun that could take his life at any time.

He’s Eva Nightingale’s father?!!!

Although he didn’t know the other person’s background, Grayson’s intuition told him that the man was quite influential.

Now, Eva holds the status of Bennett Clan’s heir, which Grayson naturally knows, but it’s well-known that the current Monarch of the Bennett Clan is a woman—Eliana Beckett.

“Uncle, there’s been a misunderstanding. I’m a longtime friend of Miss Eva, and I have no intention of harming her. She’s just fallen asleep in my arms; I haven’t hurt her,” Grayson tightened his hold on the woman in his embrace, explaining, “I care deeply for her and would never do anything to harm her.”

“Since you’re Miss Eva’s father, I’m happy to hand her over to you now.”

Though their conversation seemed gentlemanly, and both men carried themselves with grace, only they knew the air felt charged with tension.

Victor Gale’s brows exuded a fierce aura, somewhat surprised that this young man remained so calm facing the barrel of his gun.

Victor said nothing, withdrawing the black pistol from the other’s frame, and right before Grayson and all his subordinates, he removed the gun’s magazine.

Empty.

The magazine was empty!

The gun earlier had no bullets loaded at all!

“Since you’re a friend of my beloved daughter, I naturally won’t offend you,” Victor explained that the reason he hadn’t loaded the gun was because dealing with someone like Grayson didn’t require it, though the earlier stance was indeed quite intimidating.

Grayson hadn’t managed to speak before his embrace emptied.

The Eva in his arms had been carried away by the other, in the protective posture of a princess carry, carefully—

–

“Sweetheart, I’m sorry,” Victor whispered, holding Eva as he got in the car, with a look of fatherly affection.

Then he instructed, “Second, take the car to the hospital.”

Eva had yet to awaken, seeming to sleep normally, but Victor couldn’t shake his unease.

Eva had always called him uncle, and even though the paternity test had been conducted almost a year ago, Victor never had the courage to approach her directly.

For over twenty years, it was the first time holding her like this.

He held her out of guilt and responsibility…..

Twenty minutes later.

The hospital’s specialist respectfully said to Victor, “Sir, hello, this young lady is simply asleep, and there’s nothing unusual about her condition. She seems very tired—perhaps you might take her home to sleep, or she can temporarily stay here as well.”

Victor politely replied, “Thank you, I’ll take my daughter home.”

The doctor was taken aback, puzzled for a moment, then asked, “Sir, are you her father?”

The man’s deep gaze met his, radiating a charm and wild allure: “Isn’t that possible?”

He’s Eva’s father, a surprise?

Or perhaps even others think he’s unfit?

“No, no, it’s not impossible!” The specialist quickly shook his head, his elderly face flushed from Victor’s intense gaze, “I always thought you were this young lady’s partner or brother!”

“Because you look so young and gentlemanly. No matter how you look at it, you don’t seem like her father!”

“But don’t misunderstand, I mean you seem like a successful person, too outstanding, exuding a cold grandeur that makes uninformed people think you’re single.”
