‘I swear, I’m a good person at heart. How could this be such a coincidence? I wonder what that celebrity is going to say about me back at the company.’ Chen Jiao let out a long sigh, patted her cheeks, and walked out of the restroom with a smile on her face.

After she walked out of the restroom, everyone she passed greeted her with a face full of smiles. ‘It seems that celebrity has already told everyone about my unhinged behavior.’

This time, Zong Qi wasn’t with his assistants. Instead, he grabbed a bottle of water and handed it to Chen Jiao. “What were you just doing?”

Chen Jiao gave a smile that looked more pained than if she were crying. “It was a complete coincidence. I was just practicing expressions in the mirror, and who knew…”

Zong Qi understood, and a hint of amusement appeared in his eyes. “What’s your plan for tonight? They’re not coming with good intentions.”

Chen Jiao twisted open the bottle cap. “We’ll see when the time comes. We’ll just have to deal with whatever they throw at us.”

Zong Qi glanced at her from the side. “Do you know what they want?”

“What else could it be? It’s the usual stuff.” Chen Jiao had already gotten the answer from Tan You, so she sounded very calm now. “These are underhanded methods, not suitable for the open market.”

Zong Qi gritted his teeth. “It’s not a good thing to be targeted by them. They’ll do whatever it takes to get their hands on it.”

Chen Jiao was exceptionally calm. “It’s fine. We’ll just take them down one by one. We’ll see how tough they really are.”

Zong Qi couldn’t help but recall the day he was taken down. ‘I never want to go through that kind of torture again,’ he thought. Just as Chen Jiao had said, it would all come down to how tough they were.

The two of them waited in the main hall, chatting idly. It wasn’t until the time crept close to five o’clock, when the executives and agents started arranging to go to the hotel, that they both stood up.

Qi Zhen came over, dangling his car keys. “Jiaojiao, you can ride in my car…”

“Miss Chen, please take my car.” A voice suddenly cut in. A closer look revealed it was Brother Zhuo, the one who had spoken so confidently at the meeting that afternoon. Two men stood beside him, and just from their appearance, they looked like triad members.

Zong Qi’s body slowly tensed up. Chen Jiao glanced at him. “Calm down. What kind of situation haven’t you seen, Brother Qi?”

Then, Chen Jiao smiled. “Since someone is offering me a ride, I won’t stand on ceremony.”

She had been wondering how to get close to the people from the Three Dragons Gang, and now they had delivered themselves right to her doorstep.

Seeing how decisive Chen Jiao was, a smile spread across Brother Zhuo’s face. “Miss Chen, after you!”

Qi Zhen could only watch as Chen Jiao and Zong Qi left with Brother Zhuo and his lackeys. He let out a long sigh. “Let’s follow them. What kind of mess is this?”

The other two celebrities clicked their tongues. “So… they really are here for her?”

Qi Zhen said, “Let’s go. Don’t ask questions you shouldn’t be asking.”

In the car, Brother Zhuo’s attitude was exceptionally attentive. Chen Jiao just watched him. ‘There’s always a catch when someone acts so out of character. Every smile and every courtesy they show you now will have a price to be paid later.’

‘Otherwise, why would a triad boss like him be so polite to you? These are men who aren’t even bound by basic laws or morals. The only reason they’re acting so subserviently is because they’re scheming for something more, isn’t it?’

Understanding their intentions, the smile in Chen Jiao’s eyes faded as she watched them. She was channeling the fierce female lead.

Therefore, when they arrived at the hotel and everyone got out of their cars, one look at Chen Jiao’s slightly raised chin and her gaze—as if she were looking at dead men—was enough. None of her colleagues or the other celebrities from the company dared to approach her. They could only watch as she was escorted into the hotel lobby, surrounded by Brother Zhuo and his men.

A male celebrity remarked with emotion, “Little Zhu really wasn’t exaggerating earlier. That look… she’s a total boss’s wife.”

Little Zhu, squeezed in the crowd, said, “See? I told you I wasn’t exaggerating! I was so scared I didn’t even dare to use the restroom. What do you think the boss’s wife is going to pull tonight?”

“Who knows? The company belongs to the Three Dragons Gang now.”

“Just looking at her from behind, you can practically feel the murderous aura…”

Qi Zhen was getting a headache listening to them. “Alright, that’s enough. We can’t do anything about what’s happening at the top. Let’s just go inside first.”

‘What can I do? I can’t afford to offend either the Three Dragons Gang or Chen Jiao. I’m just an agent; I’m completely helpless. It’s only been a little over two months. How did Chen Jiao change so much?’

The third floor of the hotel was a banquet hall. Although the company was small, the Three Dragons Gang was no small-time outfit. There were already thirty or forty people in the hall, with three large men seated at the very front.

The rest were either standing by their sides or guarding the entrance to the hall, their eyes scanning the surroundings like hyenas.

“Miss Chen, please, come in.” Brother Zhuo’s voice was heard, and everyone in the banquet hall turned their gaze to the entrance. The three seated men frowned slightly upon hearing his tone.

Brother Zhuo was only ever this humble in front of them. Why was he being so polite to Chen Jiao now? Just as they were pondering this, the doors were pushed open.

Brother Zhuo pushed open the doors, took a step to the side, and bowed slightly, gesturing for Chen Jiao to enter first. From this gesture alone, the three brothers—Long, Hu, and Bao—could tell that Brother Zhuo had caved.

This was interesting. It had only been an afternoon, and Brother Zhuo didn’t even look like he’d been roughed up. Brother Hu narrowed his eyes and stared intently at Chen Jiao, trying to see what made her so different from everyone else.

Chen Jiao raised her eyes, and her gaze met that of Brother Long, who was sitting in the center. Just from that one look, Brother Long’s hand, which was holding a cigarette, paused. He prided himself on having seen it all, on having met truly vicious and ruthless people—because he was one of them.

But now, Chen Jiao’s gaze made his scalp tingle. ‘This is really getting interesting. She’s just a young girl. Where did she learn to project such an intimidating aura? It’s surprisingly effective.’

It had already come to this; Chen Jiao couldn’t back down now, no matter what. She had to commit to this mob boss persona to the very end. Even though she was secretly panicking and short of breath, her face still wore an expression that screamed, ‘I’m the baddest bitch here.’

After Chen Jiao entered the banquet hall, Brother Zhuo quickly hurried a few steps to catch up, pulling out a chair for her right across from the three brothers—Long, Hu, and Bao. Only after doing all this did Brother Zhuo return to stand behind Brother Long.

Zong Qi silently observed everything in the banquet hall, standing behind Chen Jiao like a sturdy pine tree. Even though there were only two of them facing more than forty people, they both appeared incredibly calm.

The celebrities and artists who had come along saw the tense, confrontational scene inside the banquet hall and didn’t dare to enter. Brother Long waved his hand. “Get them a separate private room.”

A lackey by the door immediately stepped forward and led Qi Zhen and the others to the private room next door. But Qi Zhen’s group didn’t want to leave at all. They wanted to watch the show. ‘What would you call this? A meeting of two kings?’
