Tan You rolled her eyes. "Can’t I have high standards? Besides, what’s so interesting about all that compared to cultivating? Those little dalliances will only slow down my progress."

Cang Long, unafraid of corrupting Tan You’s innocent mind, said, "Let me tell you, sex is also..."

A piece of pastry flew in from the side, stuffing itself into Cang Long’s mouth. Bai Ze slowly retracted his hand. "Don’t be a bad influence on the kids. Qing Ming is still young."

Qing Ming screamed internally, ’Come on, adults, say more! I haven’t heard enough yet!’

Cang Long twisted his mouth, and with a slight movement, he swallowed the pastry. He looked at Bai Ze, then at Tan You, and suddenly gave a meaningful smile. "Bai Ze, you..."

"To the lewd, all things are lewd." Tan You didn’t mince her words at all. "Bai Ze and I have a purely platonic friendship. Who says there’s no such thing as a pure friendship between a man and a woman?"

Bai Ze smiled as well. "That’s right. The bond between Jin Huan and I has long transcended common love. We’re kindred spirits, and that will never change."

Tan You clinked her cup with Bai Ze’s. "I knew you’d understand me best, Bai Ze. It’s truly wonderful to meet a kindred spirit in this world."

Cang Long twisted his mouth again. "Is my own state of mind really that base? Do I see a man and a woman and my mind immediately goes there?"

Tan You was merciless. "Your state of mind *is* that base. Now, do you want to solve your problem or not?"

"I do, of course I do," Cang Long immediately dropped the subject. "Jin Huan, so our main purpose in coming to the Buddhist Sect is to ask for that Reincarnation Cultivation Technique? Will the Buddhist Sect be that generous? They won’t make me become a monk, will they?"

"Although, if I can really get the Cultivation Technique, I wouldn’t mind suffering a little..."

Old Niu twisted the knife. "With how worldly you are and the way you philander all over the place, even if you were willing, the Buddhist Sect wouldn’t want you."

The Great Demons burst out laughing. That was true when they thought about it. So how was Tan You going to help Cang Long obtain that Reincarnation Cultivation Technique? It seemed pretty difficult, didn’t it?

Tan You said, "That’s why I had to bring Qing Ming. With him here, there’s still a sliver of hope."

Qing Ming was suddenly overwhelmed by the unexpected attention. "It all depends on me? But I don’t know anything."

Tan You smiled and tapped her finger on Qing Ming’s chest, right over his heart. "You’ll find out soon enough."

Qing Ming was completely baffled. ’It’s true,’ he thought. ’The adults weren’t wrong. Lord Jin Huan’s words are getting more and more cryptic.’

Bai Ze pushed the plate of pastries toward Tan You. "In two days, it will be the eighth day of the fourth month, the Buddha Bathing Festival. Jin Huan, is that the day you were aiming for?"

"Mhm," Tan You said with a grin. "This is why I say Bai Ze is my kindred spirit. He understands me so well."

Among the Great Demons here, besides the ones from the Demon Market who had read a few books, the Great Demons from the Ten-Directional Mountains knew nothing beyond matters concerning their own clans.

When the Buddha Bathing Festival was mentioned, all of them looked a bit dazed.

Tan You sighed in resignation. "I’ve told you all to read more books. At this rate, you’ll be cheated sooner or later if you go out into the world."

The Nine-tailed Fox bared her teeth. "If anyone tries to cheat me, I’ll send them packing right back to where they came from."

Cang Long couldn’t contain his impatience. "What’s the deal with this Buddha Bathing Festival?"

"The Buddha Bathing Festival is also known as the Buddha’s Birthday Festival..." Tan You went on and on, explaining it all. The Great Demons finally understood. Cang Long rubbed his chin. "So you mean on the eighth, we can all enter the Buddhist Sect openly and legitimately?"

"Correct," Tan You explained. "Although the Buddhist Sect is said to be all-encompassing, it’s not a place you can just visit whenever you want. On the day of the Buddha Bathing Festival, countless Cultivators will go to the sect. If we blend in with them, we won’t stand out."

The Cold Dragon chuckled. "It’s more than that. I heard that for this Buddha Bathing Festival, the Buddhist Sect’s Son of Buddha, Jing Yue, has chosen this day to ascend. The festival, plus the Son of Buddha’s ascension... just look at all the people coming and going. You can imagine what a huge spectacle it’ll be the day after tomorrow."

At the mention of the Son of Buddha, Jing Yue, Qing Ming’s heart suddenly gave a heavy thump. He looked up, confused, only to see the smile playing on Tan You’s lips. Qing Ming’s heart lurched. He suddenly had a feeling that he was about to be swept up in a massive storm.

Old Niu looked at Qing Ming, then at Tan You, and suddenly nudged Peacock’s arm. The two of them put their heads together and began to whisper.

Tan You didn’t bother with them. How could she? Their cultivation was higher than hers. Besides, she only held the title of Lord of the Demon Market. These Great Demons weren’t her subordinates; they were her peers.

「The day of the Buddha Bathing Festival arrived quickly.」

Early in the morning, Qing Ming came to tell everyone to assemble. The other Great Demons were also eager to see the Buddha Bathing Festival for themselves, so they all got ready without any need for urging and soon gathered on the first floor of the inn.

Tan You was dressed in her usual golden dress. But compared to its former glittering brilliance, her golden attire now seemed to have a faint whitish sheen, making it far less dazzling than before.

Peacock used his feather fan to flick a tassel on the hem of Tan You’s dress. "Looking at Jin Huan’s clothes before, I felt like I was going to be blinded. Looking at them now, the gold is much paler. At this rate, is it going to turn into... platinum?"

Tan You returned the compliment. "No matter how it changes, it’ll never be as beautiful as your feathers. They look flamboyant, but they’re not messy at all. The more I look, the more beautiful they seem."

That pleased Peacock. He was just the type who loved to be praised. "It’s just not convenient right now, otherwise I’d absolutely have to fan my tail for you."

Tan You quickly waved her hands. "No, that’s alright. Just save it for your future cultivation partner. I couldn’t handle it."

Peacock chuckled. "Jin Huan, your state of mind is low again. Who says I can only fan my tail for someone I admire? Can’t it just be because I’m in a good mood? To let you all witness my magnificent beauty?"

Tan You surrendered. "Alright, alright, my state of mind is low. When we get back, you can fan your tail however you want. Should I build you a giant stage?"

Peacock actually started to consider it. "That’s not a bad idea."

Tan You was defeated. When it came to narcissism and shamelessness, she was definitely no match for Peacock.

The Great Demons chatted and laughed as they made their way toward the Buddhist Sect. Because it was such a grand occasion as the Buddha Bathing Festival, there were many Cultivators coming and going. Everyone had tacitly agreed not to use Mana, relying only on their own two feet to slowly walk toward the Buddhist Sect.

The closer they got to the Buddhist Sect, the heavier Qing Ming’s steps became. A faint wisp of Divine Sense suddenly came from his sleeve. "Little Qing, don’t be afraid. The adults are here, nothing will happen to you."

"Besides, Zhizhi is here too. Zhizhi will always be with you."

Qing Ming reached a finger into his sleeve and stroked Xuezhi’s cap. "I’m not afraid."

Xuezhi replied, "Okay, you’re not afraid. But can you please stroke Zhizhi’s little cap a bit more gently?"

Qing Ming quickly withdrew his hand, a blush creeping up to the tips of his ears.

Tan You’s ears twitched. She glanced sideways and saw the other Great Demons wearing wry smiles. They had obviously all heard the exchange. A little fourth-rank Xuezhi and an eighth-rank young cub communicating via Divine Sense... they weren’t deaf, of course they heard it.

Even though Cang Long’s heart was heavy and he felt some dread about the road ahead, he couldn’t help but chuckle at this moment. "Ah, to be young. It’s so wonderful."

"You’re the one full of lewd talk," the Nine-tailed Fox kicked Cang Long. "Jin Huan was right about you. To the lewd, all things are lewd."
