When Love Turns the Tables: The Mysterious Husband's Chase
Chapter 1290: Missing You
Cheng Chen nearly wanted to kneel down to herself; she now fully admitted that Zhou Qi saying her IQ occasionally runs out of credit and shuts off was true.
She awkwardly turned her head away, avoiding seeing Xi Siyan’s expression, and reached out to touch her nose: "Well..."
She mumbled for a while but ultimately didn’t say anything.
Instead, Xi Siyan laughed first and directly pulled Cheng Chen into his embrace: "I’m okay with it."
Cheng Chen felt even more awkward; she didn’t mean that at all, but now she didn’t know what to say.
Back at the apartment, Cheng Chen rushed into the bathroom right after saying, "I’m going to take a shower," and dawdled for two hours before slowly stepping out.
On the balcony of the master bedroom, Xi Siyan was wearing a cotton T-shirt and casual pants, holding a glass of red wine, and on the small table beside him was a glass of milk.
His hair was still wet, evidently he had just showered as well.
Cheng Chen let her damp hair down, walked over, looked at the glass of red wine in Xi Siyan’s hand, and said: "You’re still drinking, aren’t you afraid of getting drunk?"
Xi Siyan extended his arm and pulled Cheng Chen into his embrace, his chin resting on her shoulder, his hair still wet, but he didn’t care: "If I get drunk, so be it."
The warm breath fell on Cheng Chen’s neck, causing her to instinctively shrink her neck: "Stop messing around, it tickles."
Yet Xi Siyan didn’t pull back; instead, he kissed Cheng Chen’s neck and said: "I missed you."
His deep voice was like the most alluring potion, making Cheng Chen instantly soften, leaning closer into Xi Siyan’s arms.
Outside, the night was silent, yet they were warm and happy.
Xi Siyan didn’t linger, he put down the wine glass and took Cheng Chen’s hand, first drying her hair, and then they returned to the balcony.
Since Christmas, they hadn’t seen each other for six months now. There was no sense of estrangement, only endless chatter about trivial matters.
Cheng Chen criticized the "cuisine" of the British Empire thoroughly, then talked about things at school and other random topics.
Xi Siyan held his glass of wine and listened quietly, occasionally clinking glasses with her milk cup.
Later, she couldn’t remember when they returned to bed or when she fell asleep. When she woke, it was already the next morning.
Naturally, there was no one beside her; she rolled out of bed, freshened up, went downstairs, and heard the sound of "sizzling" from the kitchen, with Xi Siyan wearing an apron, making breakfast.
Cheng Chen poked her head in; seeing no response from the person inside, she stealthily crept over, hugging Xi Siyan’s waist: "Hey, did I scare you?"
"Hmm."
Xi Siyan replied, his expression serious, his tone not perfunctory, yet anyone could see he wasn’t startled at all.
Cheng Chen pouted: "What, you weren’t scared at all. Did you sense it?"
"Hmm."
Xi Siyan calmly admitted again, and then explained slightly: "Your footsteps, your presence, I’m very familiar with them."
Cheng Chen’s cheeks flushed slightly, she tilted her chin up and pretended to be magnanimous: "Fine, seeing as you’re so eloquent, I’ll treat you to dinner."
Xi Siyan chuckled without saying anything; they had breakfast together, then nestled on the sofa, Xi Siyan managing some company matters on his laptop, while Cheng Chen fiddled with her phone.
