When I Achieved Sainthood, the Immortal Official Actually Called Me to Raise Horses!
Chapter 709: Heaven’s Son Takes the Field, Supreme Preaches the Dao
Heavenly Spirit God began explaining to Gu An the information he had gathered in the realm below. Although he hadn’t found any news of Yang Jian, he had uncovered something else—rumors about a power struggle among the Heaven’s Sons.
“It’s said that one of the Heaven’s Sons is summoning immortals and gods, apparently searching for something in the Three Thousand Great Worlds. I heard that two Heaven’s Sons are preparing to battle it out in the Great Thousand World. This matter has already been permitted by the Supreme. If it’s true, then for the Three Thousand Great Worlds, it’ll be an unprecedented disaster.”
“If immortals and gods start fighting in the Great Thousand World, they’ll surely cause heaven and earth to collapse. Even though the heavens can repair the world, still, ninety percent of cultivators will die.”
At that point, Heavenly Spirit God looked toward Gu An, frowning.
Gu An asked, “Why?”
“Because the immortals and gods will recruit cultivators to fight for them. The Heaven’s Sons are driven by pride and ego. Whether they win or lose, even if the Heavenly Court finds out, the punishment won’t be much. But the immortals and gods under their command will definitely draw cultivators into their affairs. Cultivators who recklessly get involved in the Heaven’s Court’s internal strife will suffer punishment from the heavens.”
Heavenly Spirit God let out a long sigh. Gu An fell silent after hearing that.
It truly was a dead end. Even if all the cultivation forces in the Three Thousand Great Worlds were warned, many cultivators would still leap at the chance just for the hope of becoming immortals.
The path of cultivation was, by nature, one of struggle—against others, against heaven and earth.
Though Gu An couldn’t yet see such a future, through Heavenly Spirit God’s words, he could already imagine how dark those days would be.
“How long do you think it’ll be before this Heaven’s Son conflict sweeps across the Three Thousand Great Worlds?” Gu An asked.
Heavenly Spirit God replied, “The Heavenly Court follows immortal years—one day in the heavens equals one year in the mortal realm. Judging by mortal world time, it could be as soon as ten million years, or as long as several billion years.”
That was the difference between mortals and immortals. To an immortal god, ten million years passed in the blink of an eye. But in the mortal world, ten million years could overturn heaven and earth.
Fortunately, time didn’t move so fast for Gu An. Ten million years was more than enough for his strength to surge.
Of course, even if that calamity broke out now, he wouldn’t fear it.
He was, after all, at the perfected stage of the Dao Extreme Grand Luo Immortal Realm. Even if he wasn’t the strongest in the Heavenly Court, he wasn’t someone easily messed with either.
“What about those two Heaven’s Sons? How strong are they? Will they step onto the field themselves?” Gu An asked.
“That’s beyond what I could find out,” Heavenly Spirit God said. “But they’ll definitely take the field. These kinds of struggles have happened before. To become Heavenly Emperor, one must be strong themselves—but also have enough power under their command. So they’ll start as players behind the scenes. If everything falls apart, they’ll step in directly.”
“The Heavenly Court is no different. The Heavenly Emperor is supreme, often in secluded cultivation or asleep within the cycle of reincarnation. But if the court faces a world-shaking crisis, the Heavenly Emperor will act—and can still turn the tide.”
Heavenly Spirit God’s face lit with admiration as he continued telling a few legends of the Heavenly Emperor.
In the Heavenly Court, even if the Heavenly Emperor didn’t personally appear, the stories about him alone were enough for all immortals and gods to place their faith in his power.
The Heavenly Court had ruled over the heavens for countless years. Its current standing came from suppressing wave after wave of enemies and rebels. Even during the mass invasion of chaotic demonic entities, they couldn’t shake the Heavenly Court’s destiny.
The tales Heavenly Spirit God told were incredibly grand—he basically praised the Heavenly Emperor as all-powerful, as if even without the court, the emperor himself could suppress all living beings.
Gu An, however, didn’t think those stories were exaggerated. He had compared the strength of the Heavenly Court and the Three Thousand Great Worlds before. Even without the Heavenly Emperor factored in, the court’s power was terrifying.
There were so many immortals and gods—surely some would have ambition. Yet for the Heavenly Emperor to hold that seat unchallenged for so long, his strength must be utterly unmatched.
After they finished talking about the Heavenly Emperor, Heavenly Spirit God asked, “Lord, what do you think of the Heavenly Spirit Great World? Will you leave it alone, or try to help them avoid this coming catastrophe? As long as they don’t support the immortals and gods, even if they get caught up in the disaster, the heavens will still allow them to be revived. But if we do nothing, once the news spreads, they’ll surely choose to support one of the Heaven’s Sons.”
When two Heaven’s Sons fight, one will definitely win. But even if they pick the winner, aside from a few who might become immortals, the rest will still be punished by the heavens.
Even a Heaven’s Son doesn’t have the authority to freely grant Heavenly Dao Immortal positions to others.
Gu An replied, “If I can protect an entire world, I won’t refuse. I just won’t get involved in their internal conflict. You and I have lived in this world for many years—even without deep bonds, there’s still a connection. Try to help them steer clear of it, but make sure you don’t reveal our existence.”
He didn’t need to personally take action for this. Heavenly Spirit God now served him, and naturally had to do his part.
Of course, Gu An wouldn’t treat him unfairly.
After finishing their discussion, Gu An began preaching the Dao to Heavenly Spirit God.
Even after becoming a celestial god, cultivation was still necessary. But the higher the realm, the more difficult the progress. With Gu An’s Dao Extreme Grand Luo Immortal Realm attainments guiding him, this was a rare and huge opportunity for Heavenly Spirit God.
Heavenly Spirit God had never even set foot in the Heavenly Court. Naturally, he had no access to the teachings of Supreme Immortals or Heavenly Dao Supremes.
Every time Gu An preached the Dao, Heavenly Spirit God would listen intently. He didn’t serve Gu An only for the sake of preserving himself and his son Tian Hao—he wanted to improve, too.
No matter how talented he was, his limit would’ve been Immortal Lord. But now, things had changed.
Heavenly Spirit God’s ambitions were also growing. He consciously helped pave the path for Gu An and Wushi.
…
Above the sea of clouds, a streak of green light flew past. Looking closely, it was a green round fan, and standing atop it were over a dozen figures. At the lead was the Longevity Divine Lord who had previously visited the Heavenly Spirit Great World.
Among them, Yang Jian stood tall in silver armor, glancing left and right as he admired all the scenery along the way.
The distant cloud sea rolled and changed into all kinds of shapes—majestic and breathtaking. Occasionally, a real dragon or phoenix would leap from the clouds, stirring radiant waves of light.
“Brother Yang, you’re lucky. You’ve just arrived, and you already get to follow Master to hear a Dao lecture. That White-Haired Immortal Ancestor is a Heavenly Dao Supreme who stays outside the Heavenly Court most of the time and rarely returns. She’s also one of the very few Heavenly Dao Supremes willing to preach the Dao.”
A gray-robed Daoist looked toward Yang Jian and chuckled softly.
Everyone around was an immortal or a god—the lowest cultivation was Immortal Lord. Some were Zhengshen or even Xianjun. Every one of them looked imposing, with deep, unfathomable auras.
Yang Jian couldn’t help but ask curiously, “Heavenly Dao Supreme? To be called a Supreme, does that mean she holds the highest immortal rank in the Heavenly Court?”
The gray-robed Daoist smiled. “Of course. Even among Heavenly Dao Supremes, there are levels. If we meet one, we must bow and show respect. Not only that, even harboring disrespect in our hearts will draw punishment from the Dao. Once you see her, you’ll never forget it for the rest of your life.”
“Just being able to witness a Heavenly Dao Supreme is already a huge blessing. The heavens will boost your Dao Fate, saving you years of hard cultivation.”
“Besides, a Supreme’s lecture is beyond anything you can imagine. You’ll gain a lot, no doubt.”
Those words made Yang Jian even more excited for the coming lecture.
He also felt even more grateful toward Gu An.
Master, I’m about to face a Heavenly Dao Supreme and listen to her teachings. If you knew, would you be happy for me?
In his heart, Yang Jian still felt a bit of regret.
Because he believed he was standing in for his master. Such a once-in-a-lifetime chance should’ve belonged to Gu An.
