Chapter 60: Chapter 59: She Doesn’t Want the Scummy Ex-Husband Anymore 19 (Finale)
The dark energy within the Demon Clan’s passage refused to show weakness, desperately resisting the power of the seal.
For a time, the two sides were locked in a stalemate.
But the Mana of the Immortals was ultimately stronger. Through their combined effort, the sealing runes were finally pressed successfully into the passage.
Following a deafening boom, the light at the passage’s entrance instantly dimmed. The dark energy was sealed completely, and the Demon Clan’s passage slowly closed.
Witnessing this, everyone let out a sigh of relief.
The Phoenix King was about to offer his thanks, but to his surprise, the lead Immortal landed beside Feng Fan Yin and bowed respectfully.
"Fanyin Fairy, this was our oversight. We truly never anticipated that this woman would transform into a member of the Phoenix Clan for the sake of so-called ’love’ and form a Contract with Xu Yang’s father. Her grand deception brought this crisis upon the Phoenix Clan. We hope you will be magnanimous."
Feng Fan Yin was so exhausted she had collapsed onto the ground. She looked up at the Immortal before her and waved a plump little hand. "It’s good that you’re here. You can handle this woman. She was able to use so many Forbidden Techniques, so her status in the Demon Clan can’t be low. My Mana is weak right now, so I can’t take on the Demon Clan. But when I come of age, I swear I will go to their realm and slaughter them to the last!"
The Immortal nodded and replied, "Fanyin Fairy, your courage is commendable. We trust that in the future, you will shine brightly in the fight against the Demon Clan."
Then, the Immortals bound Mother Xu and Xu Yang securely, preparing to take them back to the Immortal Realm for interrogation.
The Phoenix King stepped forward, cupping his hands toward the Immortals. "Thank you, esteemed Immortals, for your assistance. The Phoenix Clan is eternally grateful."
The Immortal returned the gesture. "You are too kind, Phoenix King. Protecting the peace of all realms is our duty. If a similar crisis should arise in the future, the Phoenix Clan may send a message to the Immortal Realm at any time."
With that said, the Immortals took Mother Xu and Xu Yang with them, departing in a blaze of auspicious light.
The people of the Phoenix Clan began clearing the battlefield and tending to the wounded.
Ji Xiaosong and Feng Cangwu went to Feng Fan Yin’s side and helped her to her feet.
"Darling daughter, how are you feeling?"
Feng Fan Yin bit her lip. "Mother, I’m fine. This battle just made me realize that I need to work even harder on my Cultivation to truly be able to protect the Phoenix Clan."
Feng Cangwu patted her shoulder in encouragement. "You’ve already done very well. I believe after this trial, you will become even stronger."
After this incident, the Phoenix King conducted a thorough purge within the Phoenix Clan.
Ji Huadan was still carrying twins. Queen Phoenix had her executed directly.
Mother Xu was from the Demon Clan, which meant Xu Yang must have had half-demon blood. As for his children, what else could they be?
Queen Phoenix would absolutely not allow such a possibility.
However, Ji Huadan’s first child had already been born. Only after undergoing rigorous testing to ensure he had no trace of the Demon Clan’s bloodline was his life spared.
His life was spared, but he was forbidden from Cultivation.
The Phoenix Clan would not mistreat him. He would simply be allowed to live until he died of old age, and his life would be considered complete.
Fortunately, no incidents occurred, and he lived out the rest of his life in peace.
Ji Xiaosong later gave birth to three children: one Golden Phoenix and two Red Phoenixes. All grew to become outstanding figures within the Phoenix Clan.
Feng Fan Yin inherited the throne, and the first thing she did upon coming of age was to charge into the Demon Clan’s territory and give the Demon King a sound thrashing.
Having been reborn, Feng Fan Yin’s cultivation was more formidable than ever. Only after crippling half of the Demon King’s own cultivation did she return to the Phoenix Clan, satisfied.
After such a lesson, the Demon Clan surely wouldn’t dare to make a move for the next thousand years. This gave the Phoenix Clan much-needed breathing room.
Ji Xiaosong had thought she would get to live in this world until she died of old age, but that turned out not to be the case.
Rongrong floated over when Ji Xiaosong was alone. "Song, we have to go to the next world. The Phoenix Clan lives for an incredibly long time. If you were to live out your natural lifespan here, it might take a few thousand years."
"Huh? But what about my children and my husband?"
Feng Cangwu was a generous husband. The gifts he’d given her over the years had been endless, and her personal dimension was now quite full.
Her children were also very devoted, and her life was exceedingly comfortable.
"They’ll accept it eventually."
Rongrong didn’t see anything wrong with it. After all, a lifetime was a long time; eventually, the pain would fade.
"Besides, Song, the merit you gain after completing the mission in each world is finite. You’ve only completed two missions so far, you’re a long way from becoming an Immortal. You can’t just abandon your ultimate goal because of a moment of weakness, can you?"
Ji Xiaosong considered it. ’Rongrong has a point.’
"Alright. I’ll sort out my things and find an opportunity to leave."
Having made her decision, Ji Xiaosong moved everything she could take into her personal dimension. To make her travels between worlds more convenient, she even specially crafted an entire courtyard out of Parasol Wood to store inside it.
On a warm, lazy afternoon, Ji Xiaosong was nestled in Feng Cangwu’s arms, enjoying the Spirit Fruits he was feeding her.
"I’m going to die soon," Ji Xiaosong said out of the blue. "It’s not an accident. My time has simply come."
Feng Cangwu thought she was joking with him and murmured coaxingly, "Song, don’t say such things. You’re perfectly fine. How could that be? Don’t scare me."
With that, he gently pressed a kiss to Ji Xiaosong’s forehead.
A bitter smile touched the corners of Ji Xiaosong’s lips. She wanted to say more, but though her mouth opened, no sound came out.
Suddenly, her eyes slowly fluttered shut, her head fell limply to the side, and her already shallow breathing ceased completely.
Feng Cangwu didn’t notice at first and continued to comfort her softly. "Song, don’t let your thoughts run wild. I’m right here."
But as he felt Ji Xiaosong’s body slowly grow cold and stiff in his arms, it was as if he awoke from a dream. He shook her in terror, his voice raw as he screamed, "Song! Song! Wake up! Don’t scare me!"
However, Ji Xiaosong could no longer respond.
