Chapter 58: Chapter 58: She Doesn’t Want the Scummy Ex-Husband Anymore 18

Seeing the situation turn against her, a vicious glint flashed in Mother Xu’s eyes. While everyone was focused on the crisis at hand, she suddenly grabbed Xu Yang, intending to drag him with her into the Demon Clan’s passage.

Just then, Ji Xiaosong, who had been watching Mother Xu closely, reacted in an instant. With a sharp cry, she condensed a powerful beam of Spiritual Power in her hand and hurled it viciously at Mother Xu and Xu Yang.

Struck by the immense force, Mother Xu and Xu Yang were sent flying backward, crashing hard onto the ground.

"You’re not getting away!"

Ji Xiaosong glared at them. "To commit such a crime and think you can flee to the Demon Clan for protection—you must be dreaming!"

Mother Xu and Xu Yang scrambled up from the ground, their faces pale.

At this moment, Mother Xu’s eyes were filled with despair and terror.

Feng Cangwu seized the opportunity to strike Xu Yang with his Spiritual Power. The crowd watched as Xu Yang let out a pained roar, his body flashing with light. He then began to expand, his human form gradually disappearing, revealing the true form of a massive Yellow Phoenix.

This Yellow Phoenix’s wings were in disarray, its feathers dull and lackluster. It had clearly suffered a grievous injury.

His once-sharp eyes were now filled with terror and indignation.

An unending wave of discussion rose from the crowd. Their astonishment was no less than when they discovered Ji Huadan had a Demon Seed.

After all, in the ten thousand years of the Phoenix Clan’s history, there had never been a case of a member’s rank being misidentified.

"A Yellow Phoenix? He’s actually a Yellow Phoenix!"

"Wasn’t Elder Xu a Red Phoenix? Why is his true form a Yellow Phoenix?"

"No wonder the Second Princess’s firstborn was a Yellow Phoenix. So it was because of Elder Xu."

"This Xu Yang really hid himself well, passing himself off as a Red Phoenix all this time. Who knows what schemes he’s been plotting behind the scenes!"

"Mother Xu has a passage to the Demon Clan in her Spirit Pool. Could it be that both mother and son are part of the Demon Clan?"

"Did he collude with the Demon Clan long ago and deliberately hide his identity?"

In an instant, all sorts of speculation and accusations filled the air, and the entire scene descended into chaos.

In truth, Xu Yang hadn’t known his real form was a Yellow Phoenix either. His eyes were wide with disbelief.

"How is this possible? Mother, what is going on?" Xu Yang roared at Mother Xu.

Mother Xu frantically avoided his gaze, stammering, unable to speak.

Xu Yang grew even more furious. "Mother, speak! How can I be a Yellow Phoenix? I’ve always thought I was a noble Red Phoenix! Have you been lying to me all this time?"

"My son, things have come to this. I can’t hide it anymore. You were born a Yellow Phoenix. I used a Forbidden Technique to conceal your true form."

Hearing his mother’s confirmation, Xu Yang felt as if he’d been struck by lightning. He trembled. "Why? Why would you do that?"

At this point, Mother Xu knew she couldn’t hide it any longer. Through tears, she cried, "I did it for your own good, my son. I didn’t want you to be looked down upon for your lowly status. If I hadn’t used a Demon Clan Forbidden Technique to make your true form appear as a Red Phoenix, your own father, who only cared about that bitch outside, would never have given you a second glance!"

Even now, Mother Xu showed no sign of remorse.

Xu Yang laughed in despair. "HAHAHA, for my own good? Look at the state I’m in now! This is what you call ’for my own good’? So the unbearable pain I suffer every year during my birth month... that was because of this Forbidden Technique too?"

"Yes... but... but Yang’er, if you could have pretended to be a Red Phoenix for your whole life, that pain would have been endurable. Look, haven’t you been enduring it just fine all these years?"

"Father has been dead for so many years, and he died at the hands of the Demon Clan! Why didn’t you end all of this sooner? Why?! You could have just found some excuse for me to get injured and step down from my lofty position as an elder. That would have been fine! Why!"

"That heartless father of yours and that bitch outside—they didn’t die at the hands of the Demon Clan. They died at *my* hands! HAHAHAHA..."

As Mother Xu recalled the past, her expression twisted into a savage sneer. Her eyes turned scarlet, shot through with blood.

"If I hadn’t opened the passage to the Demon Clan, how could they have all died so easily? Ah, my son, you should have seen it. The Demonic Qi eroded their minds and made them kill each other!"

As she spoke, Mother Xu began to laugh maniacally, her cackles sharp and piercing, like a demon screeching from the depths of hell.

Her body trembled violently, on the verge of losing control. Her hands were clenched into tight fists, nails digging so deeply into her palms that blood dripped from between her fingers, yet she seemed not to notice.

"I waited for that day for so long, so long! All who betray me deserve to die! HAHAHAHA..."

Mother Xu gasped for breath, the corners of her mouth stretching into an increasingly exaggerated, utterly crazed grin.

Her disheveled hair fell across her face, whipping about with her movements, making her look like a frenzied demon.

The Demonic Qi in the Spirit Pool swirled ever larger, as if in response to Mother Xu’s demented laughter. The black qi began to converge on her body, wrapping her tightly within it.

An eerie light emanated from Mother Xu’s body, intertwining with the Demonic Qi. She raised her hands high and began to chant, as if performing some sort of ritual.

As she chanted her Spell, the stone slabs in the Spirit Pool began to tremble violently. Cracks spread rapidly across them, and a powerful force erupted from within the fissures.

The Demonic Qi that had been swirling at the center of the pool’s floor began to spin rapidly, forming a huge black vortex from which an unsettling power radiated.

BOOM! With a tremendous roar, the passage connecting to the Demon Clan blazed with light. The dark gate to the Demon Clan slowly creaked open, and a torrent of dark energy billowed out from within.

"This is bad! We can’t let her open it! Just what is she?"

Feng Fan Yin’s little face turned deathly pale. ’Does this mean I’m going to die again before I’ve even grown up?’

’Absolutely not!’

"Mother, you have a way! Quickly, ask Auntie Rongrong to help me!"

Ji Xiaosong froze. ’My daughter knows about my mission with Rongrong?’

But the last time she’d seen Rongrong was when she went to the Lingwu Secret Realm to find Feng Cangwu.

Because Rongrong wouldn’t enter the Lingwu Secret Realm, she had stayed behind at the entrance.

When Ji Xiaosong went looking for her later, there was no trace of her.

’In my past life, she was always roaming the world, so I just assumed Rongrong had run off to play again.’

’How am I supposed to find her now?’

Just as she was at a loss, an idea suddenly struck her.

’A contract exists between me and Rongrong. I can try using that.’

Ji Xiaosong closed her eyes and focused, sinking her consciousness into her sea of consciousness, trying to sense Rongrong’s location through their contractual bond.

Inside her sea of consciousness, Ji Xiaosong called Rongrong’s name over and over again. At first, there was no response, and her heart clenched with anxiety.

But she didn’t give up and continued to search with her full concentration.

Finally, amidst the chaos, she caught a faint, familiar aura.

Overjoyed, Ji Xiaosong hurriedly followed the aura, extending her Divine Sense toward it with all her might.

’Rongrong, can you hear me?’ Ji Xiaosong asked urgently in her mind.
