Chapter 56: Chapter 56: She Doesn’t Want the Scum Ex-Husband 16

However, Ji Huadan was too slow. Ji Xiaosong had already opened the box.

Inside, a Demon Seed shaped like a black phoenix pulsed with an eerie light. Its form bore a striking resemblance to Ji Huadan’s true self.

Its wings were curled as if in slumber, but the wisps of black mist coiling around it radiated an endless evil.

Upon closer inspection, the surface of the Demon Seed was etched with the texture of a dead parasol tree.

Ji Xiaosong recognized it at a glance. The dead tree was identical to the one that once stood in Ji Huadan’s palace.

Ji Huadan’s face was ashen. Any attempt at an explanation would be utterly futile now.

"What is this?"

Ji Xiaosong had never seen one before, nor had the other young members of the clan. But Feng Cangwu and Feng Fan Yin knew exactly what it was.

Seeing Ji Xiaosong about to pick up the object in the box, Feng Cangwu’s expression tensed. He instantly cast a Spell, and a gentle force stopped her hand.

"Song, don’t be reckless."

Feng Cangwu spoke with a grave expression, "This is a Demon Seed, formed when a Heart Demon is corrupted by Demonic Qi. It is incredibly malevolent. If you touch it, it could exploit any weakness to invade and corrupt your mind. This Demon Seed contains Ji Huadan’s darkest desires and fears. Its power is not to be underestimated. We must handle this with extreme care and not let our guard down."

At his words, Ji Xiaosong snatched her hand back. She stared at the Demon Seed in the box, her heart pounding with residual fear. "No wonder the Phoenix Clan hates the Demon Clan so much. Just touching a Demon Seed can corrupt your mind... that’s terrifying. Husband, what should we do with this thing?"

"Mother, let me!"

Feng Fan Yin’s eyes lit up. She knew just how to deal with this thing!

’It might be difficult for others,’ she thought, ’but for a phoenix like me who gained immense Merit Power from the great war against the Demon Clan in my past life, it’s a piece of cake.’

Feng Fan Yin stepped forward, her hands forming a series of rapid seals. In an instant, the massive illusion of a Golden Phoenix materialized behind her.

The Golden Phoenix was breathtakingly lifelike, radiating a dazzling golden light that was both sacred and majestic.

At Feng Fan Yin’s mental command, the Golden Phoenix spread its wings and unleashed a torrent of gold from its beak, instantly engulfing the Demon Seed.

Under this immense power, the Demon Seed began to tremble violently, as if resisting with all its might, yet it seemed so small and helpless.

Just then, Ji Huadan shrieked in agony. "AHH!"

Her face twisted in a contorted mask. "Ji Xiaosong, you were born the Eldest Princess! You have everything, while I’m just your foil, no matter how hard I try! I won’t accept it! I won’t!"

"Why did my parents have to die while yours are still alive and well?!"

"If your parents had died, you’d be the one living off someone else’s charity!"

"I don’t want your charity, your title of ’princess’! I want my parents back! I want them back!"

"You should all die! Every last one of you!"

Ji Huadan roared hysterically, "In this Phoenix Clan, everyone sneers at me! They’re polite to my face, but behind my back, they all call me a poor wretch with no parents to protect me!"

"I pushed myself in my Cultivation, desperate to prove myself, but you all ignored me! Those so-called elders only care about your talent and status! They couldn’t care less about my efforts!"

"I thought I could rely on Xu Yang, but he was just after my fertility and my position. What High-level Red Phoenix? The man who could help me produce a Yellow Phoenix... I don’t know what kind of Forbidden Technique he used to even appear as a Red Phoenix."

"I hate it all! So you should all die! This entire Phoenix Clan should be destroyed!"

Ji Huadan’s eyes were bloodshot, and she had fallen into a state of utter madness.

At that moment, Feng Fan Yin let out a sharp cry. The light from the massive Golden Phoenix illusion flared even brighter, and the golden torrent spewing from its beak grew more turbulent and violent.

Under the powerful assault, the Demon Seed let out a final, desperate shriek before exploding with a BANG, shattering into countless black fragments.

Feng Fan Yin formed another seal with her hands. The fragments were instantly engulfed in golden flames and, in the blink of an eye, turned to nothingness, leaving not a single trace of Demonic Qi behind.

Seeing this, the members of the Phoenix Clan all breathed a sigh of relief.

As for Ji Huadan, it was as if all her strength had been drained. She collapsed to the ground, her eyes vacant and lifeless.

Mother Xu watched all of this unfold and began to retreat silently.

"Matron, where do you think you’re going?"

Ji Xiaosong had been keeping a close eye on everyone present. She hadn’t forgotten that her daughter had mentioned another source of Demonic Qi.

At these words, everyone’s gaze fell upon Mother Xu.

"You all were just so terrifying... My daughter-in-law was just holding a grudge these past few years, that’s all. How did this get twisted into something involving the Demon Clan? And what’s this about a ’Demon Seed’? I’ve never even heard of such a thing..."

Mother Xu’s eyes darted about nervously. She had already come up with this excuse.

’I don’t know where that little brat Feng Fan Yin got her abilities,’ she thought, ’to know where the Demonic Qi is with just a single glance.’

’In that case, my place...’

’I can’t bear to think about it! I really can’t!’

"What happened with my cousin is based solely on her own perceptions. In reality, no one has ever dared to target her all these years. Even if she weren’t my cousin—even if she were merely the descendant of a Phoenix Clan member who died fighting the Demon Clan—we have always given her preferential treatment. What’s more, as a member of the Phoenix Clan’s Royal Family, the special treatment she received was even greater."

Ji Xiaosong said calmly, her explanation directed not only at Ji Huadan but at all the members of the Phoenix Clan.

Many years ago, the Phoenix Clan and the Demon Clan fought a great war that resulted in countless deaths and injuries.

There were many orphans like Ji Huadan. As a member of the Royal Family, cared for by the Phoenix King and Queen Phoenix, she was already among the most fortunate of them all.

To fight for the clan was to fight for future generations.

The members of the Phoenix Clan who participated in that war all went into battle fully prepared to die.

As long as their descendants could live in a peaceful world, the sacrifice of their generation was worthwhile.

And they had complete faith that the surviving clan members would take good care of their descendants.

A hero’s blood is never shed in vain!

"So what? If my parents were still alive, they would have doted on me, even more than your parents dote on you! I wouldn’t have been all alone!"

Ji Huadan’s eyes were so red they looked as if they might start bleeding. "Who among you can understand my pain? Who can comprehend the despair of losing your closest kin? None of you can! You just stand there, placating me with your so-called ’preferential treatment’!"

Her voice was hoarse, yet it still seethed with rage and resentment.

"No matter what you give me now, it can never make up for a parent’s love! I will forever live in the shadow of their absence! Forever!" Ji Huadan clutched her head, her body trembling uncontrollably.

After she finished speaking, Ji Huadan’s body began to flicker between solid and translucent, as if she were about to dissipate from the world.

"But that’s no excuse for you to torture and murder our clan members!"

Feng Fan Yin was furious. After dealing with the Demon Seed, she had noticed that Ji Huadan was surrounded by countless streams of resentment, so potent that not even Merit Power could diminish them in the slightest.

Upon further investigation, she discovered that innumerable skeletons were buried in this very courtyard.

"Mother, this traitor buried the bones of countless clan members in this courtyard! Some of them are over a thousand years old. But the pits were dug intermittently over the last six months. You’ll know as soon as you dig."

This declaration sent a shockwave through the entire Phoenix Clan.

The Phoenix King and Queen Phoenix had already appeared in the Xu Family’s Parasol Tree Forest, and all the members of the Elder Council had rushed to the scene as well.

This matter had to be resolved today!

Not a single member of the clan would allow the peace their ancestors had bought with their own flesh and blood to be so carelessly destroyed!
