When a Blade of Grass Wants to Become Immortal
Chapter 276 The Crazy Couple 36
Chapter 276: Chapter 272: The Crazy Couple 36
Before long, the hurried sound of footsteps and low shouts of battle suddenly erupted from outside the residence.
Ji Xiaosong’s Divine Sense had already detected the disturbance. Her brow furrowed slightly as she thought, ’Just as I expected. Someone’s taking advantage of the chaos to break in.’
Just then, several dark figures flashed over the high wall of the back courtyard. A few soldiers in armor vaulted over, swords in hand, their eyes fierce.
They were clearly not ordinary government soldiers. They moved quickly with clear objectives, heading straight for the core of the estate.
Seeing this, the guard captain shouted, "Intruders! Everyone on alert!"
The guards within the residence quickly assembled, blocking the intruders’ path.
The two sides clashed instantly. The glint of blades flashed in the night, and the air filled with a mix of battle cries and the clang of weapons.
Ji Xiaosong stood at the entrance to the main hall, her gaze cold and severe.
She didn’t make a move. Instead, she secretly manipulated the Barrier she had laid out earlier, ensuring the estate’s guards would not suffer any fatal injuries.
Her Divine Sense, like invisible threads, quietly wrapped around each guard, providing them with a hidden layer of protection.
However, the intruders were clearly well-trained, and their attacks were ferocious.
Although the guards Wu Daniu kept at the manor fought back with all their might, they were outnumbered and slowly beginning to lose ground.
Just then, a commotion suddenly broke out from the direction of the back courtyard.
Wang Cuihua, terrified by the sounds outside, ignored Old Li’s attempts to stop her and rushed out of her room.
She ran, crying and shouting, "Master! Master! Where are you? Our family is done for!"
Ji Xiaosong’s heart tightened at the sight.
She knew that if Wang Cuihua ran around aimlessly, she would likely find herself in danger.
Wu Daniu cared for her, and she couldn’t let him return from his trip to find he had lost his companion.
She quickly said to Ji Dan beside her, "Go stop Aunt Wang! Don’t let her run around!"
Ji Dan nodded and hurried after her.
However, Wang Cuihua had already run into the front courtyard, where she came face-to-face with several of the invading soldiers.
Seeing her appear, the soldiers immediately swung their blades at her.
Wang Cuihua was so frightened she collapsed to the ground, forgetting even to scream.
In the nick of time, Ji Dan’s figure flashed forward, and she swiftly stood in front of Wang Cuihua.
She held a short blade in her hand, her gaze sharp, as she fearlessly faced the intruding soldiers.
In a flurry of flashing blades, Ji Dan’s movements were agile. With just a few moves, she forced back the soldier at the front.
At the same time, Little He also rushed out from the side.
She wielded a long staff, swinging it with impressive force as she protected Wang Cuihua and blocked another soldier’s attack.
"Aunt Wang, get back!" Little He shouted anxiously as she fought.
By now, Wang Cuihua was scared out of her wits, sitting paralyzed on the ground, unable to move.
Seeing this, Ji Dan quickly turned and shouted to the guards not far away, "Someone! Get Aunt Wang to safety!"
Several guards heard the call and rushed over. They quickly helped Wang Cuihua up and escorted her back toward the rear courtyard.
Wang Cuihua’s face was pale and her lips trembled. She mumbled, "Master... Where is Master? Our family is done for..."
Ji Dan and Little He, meanwhile, continued to engage the invading soldiers.
Ji Dan’s bladework was sharp and every move was lethal, while Little He’s staff was a seamless blur of motion. The two coordinated perfectly, forcing the soldiers into a steady retreat.
However, the intruders were numerous, and soon several more flanked them from the side.
Watching the scene unfold, Ji Xiaosong twitched a finger and caused everyone except the robots to faint.
"Ji Dan, take them away."
Ji Dan acknowledged the order and left with a team of robot guards, taking Wang Cuihua and the others with them.
The thugs disguised as soldiers, who had been in the middle of their attack, froze in place when they saw this.
Their ferocious expressions instantly froze, their eyes filled with shock and disbelief.
One second the residence was a scene of fierce battle, and the next, it fell silent. Only the intruders were left standing, while all the guards and female family members had inexplicably fainted and collapsed to the ground.
"Wh-what’s going on?" a leading thug said, his eyes wide and his voice tinged with panic.
"Could it be... Sorcery?" another muttered, his sword unconsciously lowering.
In the moment they stood stunned, a cool voice came from the entrance of the main hall. "You should not have come here."
Everyone looked toward the sound and saw Ji Xiaosong walking out slowly, a longsword that glinted coldly in her hand.
Her expression was as calm as still water, but her gaze was as cold as ice, as if the people before her were nothing more than ants.
"Little lady, what kind of Demon Art is this?"
The leading thug forced himself to look calm, tightening his grip on his sword as he tried to mask his inner fear with a fierce tone.
Ji Xiaosong did not answer. She simply raised her sword, its tip pointing at him, and said indifferently:
"Trespassers will die."
Before her voice had faded, her figure abruptly vanished from the spot.
In the next instant, a flash of her sword, as swift as lightning, cut through the night sky.
Before the thugs could even react, they felt a cold sensation on their necks and then collapsed one after another.
Ji Xiaosong’s movements were dazzlingly fast. It seemed that in a mere instant, all the invading soldiers had fallen.
Her swordsmanship was both sharp and elegant. Every strike was perfectly precise, with no wasted motion.
Seeing this, the remaining thugs were scared out of their wits and scrambled backward.
Some even dropped their weapons and turned to flee.
However, Ji Xiaosong gave them no such chance. Her figure moved like a phantom, weaving through the crowd. Wherever her sword flashed, no one could stand against her.
"Run! This woman is a monster!" one of the thugs screamed in terror, turning to vault the wall and escape.
Ji Xiaosong snorted coldly. With a wave of her longsword, a streak of sword energy swept out, knocking the man straight off the wall.
She stood her ground, her gaze sweeping over the remaining thugs as she said icily, "Not one of you will escape."
The thugs completely broke down, dropping to their knees to beg for mercy. "Spare us, milady! We were just following orders! We beg you to show mercy!"
Ji Xiaosong ignored their pleas and said flatly, "Tell me who’s behind this, and I can give you a quick death."
The leader gritted his teeth, seeming to hesitate.
However, when he met Ji Xiaosong’s icy gaze, he shivered and quickly said:
"It’s... it’s Black Wind Village, outside the city! They gave us silver and told us to disguise ourselves as soldiers, create chaos, and seize the opportunity to plunder!"
Ji Xiaosong’s brow furrowed. She thought, ’Black Wind Village? It seems this chaos isn’t so simple.’
She sheathed her longsword and said coldly, "Your mission is complete. Now, it’s time to pay the price."
Before her voice faded, her figure flickered again. Her sword flashed like a rainbow, and in an instant, she had finished off all the remaining thugs.
The residence fell silent once more, leaving only the corpses scattered on the ground and the unconscious guards.
Ji Xiaosong stood in the courtyard and let out a soft breath, her longsword slowly lowering.
Ji Dan came forward and handed her a disinfecting wipe.
"Miss Ji, should we proceed with harmless disposal of these people?"
"Leave them. When the time comes, just say you took care of them. They might not actually be from Black Wind Village. If I’m not mistaken, this intrusion was aimed at Wu Daniu."
