“What does it matter if it’s heavily guarded?”

The plump elder sneered. “No matter how capable Dai Lixing is, he can’t be by his wife and child’s side every second of the day. We just need to find the right opportunity for a single, decisive strike. As for Ji Xiaosong… a woman with no backing? We can make her disappear with any random excuse.”

Dai Weiyuan pondered for a moment, a venomous look slowly creeping into his eyes. “That’s right. As long as we get rid of Ji Xiaosong and Ji Sui’an, Dai Lixing will be completely distraught. When that happens, we’ll seize the opportunity to counterattack and take back everything that belongs to us!”

“And that’s not all,”

the elder with the salt-and-pepper beard lowered his voice, a hint of smugness in his tone. “We can also frame another family for this. Dai Lixing has made plenty of enemies over the years. As long as we’re clean about it, he’ll never suspect us.”

Dai Weiyuan nodded, a sinister smile spreading across his face. “Good. Let’s do that. As soon as you get back, gather the family’s elite and draw up a detailed plan. This time, we’re going to let Dai Lixing have a taste of what it feels like to lose his loved ones!”

Meanwhile, inside the Marshal Mansion.

Dai Lixing stood before the study window, his gaze profound as he stared into the distance.

Ji Xiaosong, holding a sleeping Ji Sui’an, walked softly to his side and asked gently, “Li Xing, what are you thinking about?”

Dai Lixing pulled his gaze back, turning to wrap his wife and child in an embrace. His tone was gentle, yet tinged with a chill. “I’m thinking that those people from the Dai Family won’t give up so easily. They may have agreed to the terms today, but given their nature, they’re bound to be plotting a counterattack in secret.”

Ji Xiaosong raised an eyebrow. “Are you saying they might move against us?”

Dai Lixing nodded, gently stroking Ji Sui’an’s small face. He whispered, “Especially you and Sui An. They’ll most likely see you as a weak point. Song Song, you and Sui An should try not to leave the Marshal Mansion for a while. I’ll assign more men to protect you.”

Ji Xiaosong nodded lightly and leaned against Dai Lixing’s shoulder, speaking in a relaxed tone. “Don’t worry, I’ll protect myself and Sui An. You can trust my abilities in that regard. But, Li Xing, you need to be careful too. Those people from the Dai Family are ruthless. They’re capable of anything.”

Dai Lixing let out a cold laugh, a flash of murderous intent in his eyes. “If they behave themselves, I might have given them a way out. But if they dare to touch a single hair on you or Sui An, I’ll make them wish they were dead.”

「A few days later, at the Dai Family’s ancestral home.」

Dai Weiyuan sat in the main seat, a few men dressed in black standing before him.

Each of them wore a grim expression, their eyes filled with killing intent.

“Is everything arranged?” Dai Weiyuan asked in a low voice.

One of the men in black bowed and replied, “Rest assured, Mr. Dai. We’ve figured out the patrol patterns of the Marshal Mansion. In three days, Ji Xiaosong will be taking Ji Sui’an to the Federation Hospital for a routine check-up. That will be the best time for us to strike.”

Dai Weiyuan nodded in satisfaction, a venomous glint in his eyes. “Remember, it must be clean and swift. Leave no trace behind. After it’s done, I’ll give you a generous reward.”

The men in black answered in unison, “Yes, Mr. Dai!”

Dai Weiyuan waved his hand, dismissing them.

When he was the only one left in the study, he slowly stood up and walked to the window. Staring at the distant sky, he murmured to himself:

“Dai Lixing, do you think you’ve won? Soon, you’ll find out the price for offending the Dai Family!”

However, Dai Weiyuan had no idea that their plan had already been discovered by Dai Lixing.

In the study of the Marshal Mansion, Dai Lixing looked at the intelligence report in his hand, a cold smirk playing on his lips. “As expected, a leopard can’t change its spots.”

He pressed his communicator and gave a cold command, “Begin the operation. Leave no one alive.”

「Three days later, outside the Federation Hospital.」

Several men in black slipped in stealthily. Just as they were about to move against Ji Xiaosong and Ji Sui’an, they were suddenly surrounded by a squad of fully armed soldiers.

Before the men in black could even react, they were shot and killed on the spot.

Meanwhile, inside the Dai Family’s ancestral home.

Dai Weiyuan was anxiously awaiting news when suddenly, the study door was kicked open.

Dai Lixing walked in with a squad of soldiers, his gaze as cold as a blade.

“Second Uncle, what are you waiting for?” Dai Lixing asked coldly.

Dai Weiyuan’s face turned deathly pale. He stammered, “Li Xing, you… what are you doing here?”

‘The men he sent out must have failed. Otherwise, Dai Lixing wouldn’t have come to the ancestral home at this time. He should be with his wife and child.’

Dai Lixing sneered and slowly approached him. “What am I doing here? Second Uncle, haven’t you been waiting for me? A pity. What you’ve been waiting for isn’t good news, but the end of the Dai Family.”

Dai Weiyuan collapsed to the floor, his eyes filled with despair.

Standing in the center of the great hall of the Dai Family’s ancestral home, Dai Lixing’s cold gaze swept across his surroundings.

The once-glorious ancestral home now seemed exceptionally desolate.

The members of the Dai Family were gathered in the hall. Some wore expressions of fear, others lowered their heads in silence, and a few tried to argue their case. But without exception, all their fates rested in Dai Lixing’s hands.

“Dai Weiyuan,”

Dai Lixing began coldly, his gaze falling upon the collapsed Dai Weiyuan. “As an elder of the Dai Family, you repeatedly colluded with outsiders, schemed against your own kin, and even intended to harm the wife and child of the Federation Marshal. Your crimes are unforgivable.”

Dai Weiyuan’s face was ashen, his lips trembling, but he couldn’t utter a single complete sentence.

‘He knew it was completely over for him.’

Dai Lixing didn’t spare him another glance, turning to order the soldiers behind him, “Take Dai Weiyuan and all his accomplices to the military tribunal to be tried for treason. As for the other family members, any who participated in these crimes will be punished severely.”

The soldiers moved quickly, dragging Dai Weiyuan and the others out.

The remaining members of the Dai Family in the hall looked at each other, their hearts filled with unease.

Dai Lixing looked around at the crowd, his tone softening slightly. “The Dai Family’s thousand-year legacy should have been a force for contribution to the Federation, but it has been led astray by the selfish desires of a few. Today, in my capacity as the head of the Dai Family, I announce that the family will undergo a complete restructuring starting now. All members who did not participate in these crimes may remain with the family, but they must abide by Federation law and serve the Federation.”

He paused, then continued, “Furthermore, I will establish the ‘Dai Family Revival Fund.’ It will allocate resources and support based on each member’s contributions to the Federation. Whether in scientific research or education, as long as you contribute to the Federation, the fund will provide you with the rewards you deserve.”

Hearing this, the family members in the hall felt a spark of hope ignite in their eyes.

They had originally thought the Dai Family would be finished, but they never expected Dai Lixing to offer them a way forward.

A young family member mustered his courage, took a step forward, and asked, “Marshal, do we… do we really still have a chance?”

Dai Lixing looked at him, a hint of warmth in his gaze.

‘He remembered this young man. He was from a branch of the family, had always been a good student, and was interested in agricultural research. He had even been a botany student and published several key papers.’

“As long as you keep the Federation in your hearts and are willing to work for its future, the Dai Family will never fall. We can correct the mistakes of the past. The road ahead is one you must walk yourselves.”

The young family member nodded firmly, his eyes full of determination. “I understand, Marshal. I will definitely contribute my strength to the Federation!”

Dai Lixing gave a slight nod, then turned and left.

‘His purpose for coming to the Dai Family was accomplished; there was no need to stay any longer.’

‘Song Song and Sui An must have been terrified. I need to go back and comfort them.’
