When a Blade of Grass Wants to Become Immortal
Chapter 215: Interstellar Deserted Star Farm Woman 22
Chapter 215 -211: Interstellar Deserted Star Farm Woman 22
“Everyone, please be patient. I’ll be stocking new items regularly from now on. If you missed out today, there will be other opportunities. I’m sticking to my original plan of trying to let as many people as possible taste the plants I grow. Of course, I might offer animal products in the future, but we’ll see how it goes.”
Ji Xiaosong explained to the crowd. After all, her initial goal was to benefit as many people as possible. If her sales only allowed a tiny fraction of people to taste her food, it would defeat the purpose.
Ji Xiaosong spent the entire day clearing out the produce from her vegetable garden.
She didn’t end the livestream until the sun was about to set.
“Alright, my livestream is over for today. See you all tomorrow.”
After turning off the livestream, Ji Xiaosong looked at the bare, empty patches of ground all over her yard and couldn’t help but chuckle.
“Rongrong, look! Our products are really popular. I’m going to find some arable land on Wa Star and plant some fruits and vegetables now, so we’ll have something to sell tomorrow.”
“Alright, Song. I’ll help you look.”
Ji Xiaosong sat on Rongrong’s back, and they soon arrived at a mountain range in Wa Star’s interior.
“This is the spot. I’ll plant fruit trees here, and we can raise animals beneath them.”
She flipped through an old agricultural guide she kept in her storage space and quickly found the relevant notes.
“Song, if you plant fruit trees here, what will happen to the trees that are already here?”
“I’m not going to cover the whole area with fruit trees. I’m just filling in the gaps. As long as we provide enough nutrients and gather plenty of Spiritual Power, our fruit trees won’t have any problems.”
Ji Xiaosong explained while flipping through the book.
“We need a healthy ecosystem to grow fruit trees, that’s the only way to get organic fruit. Otherwise, wouldn’t our produce be toxic, too? I’ve actually always suspected that all the plants and animals in the interstellar age are toxic because they’ve been contaminated at the source.”
“You have a point. It doesn’t make sense for humans and other highly intelligent lifeforms to be non-toxic while all the plants and animals are. Something in the cycle must have been contaminated.”
‘Now that I have a lead, I’ll figure out a way to tackle it eventually. For now, I’ll plant the trees and set up the ecosystem for this whole mountain range.’
The moment she finished speaking, Ji Xiaosong unfurled an ecological model that had been hovering in her palm. A pale blue curtain of light descended, enveloping the entire mountain range.
Her fingertips tapped lightly, and saplings lit up one after another along the ridgeline.
“Apples and pears on the windward slope. Cherries love the sun, so they’ll fill the southern foothills…”
While speaking, Ji Xiaosong gathered the Spiritual Power that naturally existed in the mountains, scattering it over the soil and saplings.
“Rise!”
The young woman suddenly brought her palms together.
The instant her fingers interlocked, the green Spiritual Power at her fingertips transformed into Jade Talismans that sank into the mountainside with a TINKLE, TINKLE, TINKLE.
A rumbling echoed from deep within the earth’s ley lines. The grey-brown rock began to glow with a jade-like luster, and withered vines and ancient trees started to RUSTLE, shaking off years of accumulated toxins.
A massive wild rabbit gnawing on a shrub suddenly froze. The half-eaten purple leaf in its mouth faded, turning a tender green.
“Rongrong, carry me.”
Ji Xiaosong leaped onto Rongrong’s back and soared into the sky.
The wooden pin in her hair shattered, and her silken black tresses billowed out, growing wildly in the twilight glow.
Verdant vines wrapped around every strand, cascading down like an inverted green waterfall.
The moment the vines touched the ground, the entire mountain range seemed to stir, like a great jade dragon coming to life. The treetops rippled in emerald waves, while below ground, the roots wove themselves into a luminous network.
As dusk settled, she gathered Spiritual Energy between her brows, forming a Spiritual Power Ball.
The Spiritual Power Ball levitated slowly into the air, then shot across the sea of trees as a streak of light.
In an instant, a million buds blossomed simultaneously. A rain of pink and white petals fell, and amidst it all, rainbow-colored motes of light began to float.
Most stunning of all, as each fruit materialized, it erupted with a burst of starlight.
The cherries were crimson meteors, the blueberries coalesced like violet nebulae, and the oranges resembled tiny suns fallen to earth.
When the first apple fell, the Spiritual Energy of the entire mountain formed a visible, swirling green vortex.
Herds of wild deer galloped across rainbow bridges to arrive, their antlers draped in glowing mycelium;
Rock eagles swooped down, kicking up storms of golden pollen that sowed new life among the dormant ferns.
At midnight, all the fruit trees suddenly began to glow in unison. Their branches intertwined, forming a three-dimensional star map that stretched for miles. They precipitated the toxins into crystalline, amber dewdrops that dripped to the ground below.
Ji Xiaosong yawned and went back to her bedroom to sleep.
‘For a pregnant woman, she was really overdoing it.’
‘She couldn’t believe she was still awake. Before, she’d been liable to fall asleep anytime, anywhere.’
“Song, why don’t you just sleep on my back? My body is soft. If you sleep up here, I can even cover you with a cloud for a blanket.”
“That’s a nice thought, but maybe I’ve been human for too long. I feel really insecure sleeping out in the open. I have to be in a house to sleep soundly.”
“Alright then, I’ll take you back now.”
Rongrong flew Ji Xiaosong back to her bedroom. Ji Xiaosong performed a Cleaning Technique, then simply took off her clothes, pulled up the covers, and fell fast asleep.
By the time Ji Xiaosong woke up again, it was already broad daylight.
She had no idea that the entire Star Network was practically in an uproar over her.
Everyone was waiting for Ji Xiaosong to start her stream, their eyes filled with hope.
Today’s news had several headlines.
Ji Xiaosong’s livestream was one of them. Another was the new genetic modification directive implemented by Dai Lixing.
Previously, only the prominent families and the Main Star Federation had access to genetic selection. But now, thanks to Dai Lixing, any interstellar citizen could participate in the process.
This new process was different from the old method of gene editing. Instead, it focused on optimizing existing genetics by removing negative traits.
Netizens were posting all over the web:
“Hasn’t that streamer who sells cucumbers gone live yet?”
“The one who sells peaches still isn’t live.”
“I miss the cherry tomato streamer.”
“Thanks to Marshal Dai, my children will have a better future. There’s finally hope. Now I just want to buy some toxin-free food from the streamer for my wife.”
“Same here. My child was born a commoner and couldn’t get gene optimization, so his health isn’t great. If I can manage to snag some of the streamer’s fruits and vegetables, I can finally give my kid something good to eat.”
…
There were many more comments like these online. After finishing her meal, Ji Xiaosong finally hurried to open her stream.
“Hi, everyone! I was exhausted last night, and being pregnant, I ended up sleeping in until just now.”
The moment Ji Xiaosong started her stream, the comment barrage completely filled the screen.
“Your health comes first, streamer! We’re desperate to buy your food, but if you don’t take care of yourself, you won’t be able to sell us any more delicious, toxin-free food.”
“Why does the streamer never show her face?”
“What’s so weird about it? Some people are just shy introverts. As long as the streamer keeps feeding us, who cares if she shows her face or not?”
“Streamer, check me out! I built an auto-buy bot out of Starship scrap!”
“Please, please stock more blueberries! I’ve had morning sickness for three months, and that little bit of sweetness is the only thing keeping me alive.”
“Can those fruits really neutralize toxins? I’ve got my detector all set up and ready.”
“Hmph. More hype. Who knows if this is somehow connected to that Marshal Dai.”
