Chapter 179: Chapter 175: Wimp x Pure-hearted Little Overlord 14
Ji Fu had promised President Wang an invitation, so he couldn’t just do nothing. Otherwise, that contract would never go into effect.
After moving heaven and earth, Ji Fu finally managed to see Ji Xiaosong at one of her events.
Ji Xiaosong had just finished her event and was wearily walking into the artists’ lounge. She had barely sat down to catch her breath when Ji Fu pushed the door open and entered.
There were only a few staff members in the lounge, and seeing him, they tactfully excused themselves.
"Xiaosong."
Ji Fu plastered a smile on his face, but to Ji Xiaosong, it looked exceptionally fawning.
Ji Xiaosong looked up and stared at him coldly, not saying a word.
Ji Fu cleared his throat awkwardly. "It wasn’t easy for me to find you. How could you have an engagement party without your dad? No matter what, I am your biological father."
Ji Xiaosong’s gaze turned icy in an instant. She stood up, looking Ji Fu directly in the eye. "Biological father? You have the nerve to bring that up? Have you forgotten how you were wining, dining, and keeping a mistress while you were married to my mother? And my mother’s family—they were honest people, but you were so unscrupulous in your pursuit of profit that you drove them to ruin. Look yourself in the mirror and ask yourself, do you even deserve to be my father?"
Ji Fu’s face flushed red, then went pale. He avoided Ji Xiaosong’s gaze and stammered, "Xiaosong, about the past... I know I was wrong. Just forgive your dad this one time. Let me come to your engagement party so I can also enjoy some of the glory."
"Glory? You’re still thinking about glory?"
Ji Xiaosong was so furious she laughed. "You should have thought about today when you were doing all those despicable things. Did you really think I’d just forget the past to protect your so-called ’dignity’? Dream on. My engagement party with Jiang Yao is the most important moment of my life, and I don’t want someone like you there to ruin it."
Ji Fu tried to speak again, but Ji Xiaosong had already turned her back on him. Her tone was firm and final. "Leave. And don’t ever come looking for me again."
Ji Fu stood frozen, his fists clenched so tight the veins on his forehead bulged. His expression shifted from rage to sinister malice. "You ungrateful brat! Don’t think you can do whatever you want just because you’ve latched onto the Jiang Family. The Ji family, for all its faults, is still a wealthy family. You have a long road ahead of you in the Jiang Family. Do you think you can have a peaceful life without my approval? You’d better listen to me and show me some respect. Otherwise, you’ll regret it!"
With that, he shot a venomous glare at Ji Xiaosong’s back, then turned and stormed out, slamming the door behind him.
As Ji Xiaosong listened to the sound of the slamming door, the anger in her eyes was gradually replaced by a calculating glint.
’The ties of blood can’t be severed. But Ji Fu’s threat has just become a tool I can use.’
She slowly turned around, a cold smirk playing on her lips. "Since you’re so desperate to cling to the Jiang Family, don’t blame me for what comes next."
「That night.」
Ji Xiaosong called Ji Fu.
On the other end of the line, Ji Fu’s voice was still laced with anger. "What, have you come to your senses?"
Ji Xiaosong suppressed her disgust and said softly, "Dad, I’ve been thinking. Blood is thicker than water, after all, and I don’t want to make our relationship too hostile. But I have a condition."
"What condition?" Ji Fu grew wary.
Ji Xiaosong said unhurriedly, "I know about you, Li Liping, and my dear stepsister. They’ve spent years plotting against me behind my back. If you help me teach them a proper lesson, make them pay for what they’ve done, then we can discuss the engagement party."
Hearing this, Ji Fu hesitated.
On one hand were the resources of the Jiang Family, well within his reach. On the other were his current wife and daughter.
As if guessing his thoughts, Ji Xiaosong added, "Dad, think about it. Without the Jiang Family’s support, will you be able to maintain your prestigious position in the business world? Li Liping and my stepsister can’t help you with that."
Ji Fu fell silent. After a long moment, he gritted his teeth. "Fine, I’ll do it. What do you want me to do?"
"Ji Yao has a new boyfriend. I hear he also has a formidable wife at home. If you were to marry Ji Yao off to him, wouldn’t you be doing them both a favor?"
"Who is this man?"
Ji Fu genuinely had no idea. To him, his younger daughter had always been quiet and well-behaved. How could she possibly be someone’s mistress?
But since Ji Xiaosong had said it, it was almost certainly true.
He found it hard to believe.
"I’ll send you all the information about him right now. You’ll see."
A moment later, Ji Fu’s phone chimed with a series of message notifications.
He eagerly opened them. First was a set of candid photos. In them, Ji Yao and a middle-aged man were acting intimately inside a luxury car. Ji Yao was nestled in the man’s arms with a blissful smile, the two of them completely unguarded.
Next was an audio clip. Ji Yao’s wheedling voice came through clearly: "Darling, when are you going to divorce that old hag at home? I can’t wait to be with you out in the open."
The man’s voice followed. "Soon, baby, soon. Just wait a little longer."
Hearing this, Ji Fu’s brows furrowed deeply, and a fire of rage ignited within him.
After that, Ji Xiaosong sent a detailed investigation report. It not only contained the man’s personal information and home address but also clearly described his wife’s personality and her status in her family.
The report also mentioned that the wife’s family was powerful, with extensive connections in the business world. She herself was known for her swift and decisive methods and despised betrayal above all else.
What Ji Fu found even harder to accept was an attached document—an anonymous tip—that detailed the entire history of Ji Yao’s relationship with the man, from how they met to every recorded rendezvous, complete with dates and locations.
Seeing all this, Ji Fu was completely dumbfounded. He never could have imagined that his quiet, obedient daughter could be so brazen and unrestrained.
"She’s your own sister, no matter what. If you marry her off to a man that old, won’t her life be ruined?"
Ji Fu hesitated.
Ji Yao was the child he had genuinely looked forward to raising, unlike Ji Xiaosong, who was born from a marriage of convenience for his own career.
’If Ji Yao really takes that step, her reputation will be ruined, and that man won’t treat her well either.’
’I climbed up by doing things like this. Does my own daughter have to go through a different kind of suffering all over again?’
"What, getting sentimental?"
Ji Xiaosong scoffed.
"Her mother was a mistress back in the day, and you’re just a social climber who used my mother to get ahead. Weren’t you just as self-righteous back then?"
Ji Xiaosong took a deep breath and continued, "Don’t forget, you abandoned the wife who stood by you through thick and thin for your own career, driving my mother and me into a corner. Did you show even a sliver of compassion then? Now Ji Yao is just being made to answer for her own actions, and you’re feeling sorry for her?"
Seeing Ji Fu still hesitating, Ji Xiaosong changed her tack. "Dad, think about that contract with President Wang. Without the Jiang Family’s backing, what leverage do you have with him? And if what Ji Yao is doing gets exposed, the Ji family’s reputation will be damaged along with it. How will you maintain your footing in the business world then?"
"But..." Ji Fu started to say, then stopped, his face a mask of conflict.
"There are no ’buts’."
Ji Xiaosong cut him off. "If you really cared about Ji Yao, you’d make her face reality. That man’s wife is not someone to be trifled with. Instead of waiting for this to blow up and have her get ruthlessly dealt with, it’s better to marry her off now. At least you can save the Ji family’s dignity, and you might even be able to build a connection with that man’s family. It could be good for your business."
Ji Fu’s resolve began to waver. He lowered his head, lost in thought.
Seeing her opening, Ji Xiaosong added more fuel to the fire. "You’ve always wanted to make a good impression on the Jiang Family. This is your chance. If you help me with this, not only will I give you an invitation to the engagement party, but I’ll also put in a good word for you with the Jiang family. Their support for your business in the future would be guaranteed. But if you refuse, then we’ll go our separate ways, and you can forget about ever getting anything from the Jiang Family again."
Ji Fu looked up, a resolute glint in his eyes. He gritted his teeth. "Fine. I’ll do it."
Hearing this, the faintest hint of a smile touched Ji Xiaosong’s lips.
