Chapter 175: Chapter 171: Wimp x Innocent Little Overlord 10

The following days were busy and fulfilling for Ji Xiaosong.

Every morning at the crack of dawn, she would carry a carefully prepared breakfast and hurry to the high-end private hospital where Jiang Yao had helped transfer Shen Fengming.

The faint scent of disinfectant filled the hospital. Down the quiet corridors, only the sound of her light, hurried footsteps could be heard.

"Mom, I’m here."

Ji Xiaosong gently pushed open the door to the hospital room, a warm smile on her face as she spoke softly.

Shen Fengming was propped up against the soft hospital bed. Seeing her daughter come in, her weary expression instantly softened, her eyes filling with tenderness and relief. "Xiaosong, you’re up so early again. Aren’t you tired?"

"I’m not tired, Mom."

Ji Xiaosong smiled as she walked to the bedside and placed the breakfast on the small table. "I made your favorite shrimp congee and a vegetable omelet. Go on, try some."

As she spoke, she picked up a spoon and fed her mother, one spoonful at a time, vividly recounting little anecdotes from her life. The room was frequently filled with their cheerful laughter.

"By the way, Xiaosong, you said you found a job last time. How’s it going?"

Ji Xiaosong had no intention of hiding it from her. She sat on the edge of the bed and hesitated for a moment, her eyes gleaming with a mix of anticipation and nervousness. "Mom, I... I have something to tell you. Lately, I’ve been working hard on something I’ve always wanted to do—I’m recording a song. I want to be a singer."

Shen Fengming was taken aback for a second. A flash of surprise crossed her face, but it was quickly replaced by an encouraging look. "Really, Xiaosong? That’s wonderful! Mom supports you. You’ve loved singing since you were a little girl. I still remember how you’d start humming along the moment you heard music. Even back then, I thought you had a gift for it."

A warmth spread through Ji Xiaosong’s chest. She excitedly pulled the demo she’d recorded from her bag and put it on a nearby player. "Mom, this is a song I wrote. Have a listen."

The music began to play, and Ji Xiaosong’s unique, infectious voice echoed through the room.

When she reached the chorus, she stood up, closed her eyes, and poured her heart into the performance. Every note was saturated with her passion and devotion to her dream.

Shen Fengming listened quietly, her eyes gradually welling with tears.

When the song ended, she clapped enthusiastically. "Xiaosong, that was beautiful! Mom is so proud of you. You have to keep going and make your dream come true."

The original owner of her body had waited a lifetime for those words of support, but sadly never had the chance to hear them.

’But that’s okay. I’ll see this dream through.’

Her eyes reddened slightly as she hugged her mother tightly. "Thank you, Mom. With your support, I’ll definitely do my best."

After leaving the hospital, Ji Xiaosong headed straight for the recording studio.

In the recording studio, she was completely absorbed, practicing over and over again, striving for every single note to be perfect.

She already had a gifted voice, and after this period of honing her skills, it had become even more stunning.

The recording engineer was full of praise for her. "Xiaosong, you’re improving so quickly," he encouraged her. "This single is going to be a huge hit for sure."

Ji Xiaosong smiled and thanked him, her eyes shining with determination. ’I’m getting closer to my dream, one step at a time. This is a wonderful feeling.’

Meanwhile, although Jiang Yao had said he arranged for Shen Fengming’s transfer so Ji Xiaosong could focus on her work, his concern actually ran deeper.

In his spare time, he would discreetly visit the hospital to ask the doctor for detailed updates on Shen Fengming’s condition, making sure everything was progressing well.

He also secretly had people keep an eye on the area around the hospital to prevent anyone from the Ji family from showing up.

As for the Ji family, Ji Fu was still frantically searching for Ji Xiaosong.

He had used all his connections, but still came up empty-handed.

When he learned that Ji Xiaosong was working hard on recording a song for her debut, he flew into a rage, vowing to drag her back before she could become famous.

One day, after finishing her recording session, Ji Xiaosong headed to the hospital as usual.

Just as she reached the door to the room, she heard the doctor’s voice from inside. "Ms. Shen, you’re recovering exceptionally well. At this rate, you can be discharged tomorrow."

Ji Xiaosong’s heart leaped with joy. She eagerly pushed the door open and hugged her mother tightly. "Mom, that’s wonderful! You’ll be discharged soon and can come live with me."

Shen Fengming gently patted her back, her eyes filled with anticipation for the life ahead of them.

On the day of her discharge, sunlight filtered through a thin layer of clouds, scattering across the ground.

Ji Xiaosong was in high spirits. She arrived at the hospital early to help her mother with the discharge paperwork, and the two prepared to leave, chatting and laughing.

Meanwhile, Ji Fu, accompanied by a lawyer in a sharp suit, stormed into Jiang Yao’s company, Starry Entertainment.

The receptionist was startled by the spectacle and quickly asked what was going on.

Ji Fu started shouting immediately. "Get your vice president, Jiang Yao, out here! My daughter, Ji Xiaosong, is with your company, and I’m taking her with me today!"

Jiang Yao was quickly informed of the situation. He calmly straightened his cuffs, strode out of his office, and looked at Ji Fu and the lawyer with a placid gaze. His tone was chilly. "Mr. Ji, what is the meaning of this? Causing a scene in my company is hardly appropriate, don’t you think?"

Seeing this, the lawyer immediately stepped forward and cleared his throat. "President Jiang, we are here on official business. Ji Xiaosong is a member of the Ji family. She left home without the family’s permission and is now hiding in your company. This has had a significant impact on the Ji family. We demand that you hand her over immediately."

The corner of Jiang Yao’s mouth twitched into a mocking smile. "Counselor, actions and words require evidence. Ji Xiaosong is an adult with the right to make her own decisions. She came to my company for a normal job, which has nothing to do with the Ji family. Furthermore, she hasn’t broken any laws or infringed upon the Ji family’s legal rights. On what grounds are you demanding I hand her over?"

Hearing this, Ji Fu’s face flushed red with anger. He pointed a finger at Jiang Yao’s nose and snarled, "Cut the crap! She’s my daughter, and I’ll do whatever I want with her. Don’t think I don’t know what you’re scheming. Hand her over now, or you’ll be sorry!"

Jiang Yao’s eyes turned cold, and he met Ji Fu’s gaze without an ounce of fear. "Mr. Ji, I suggest you watch your mouth. You don’t get to run wild in my company. If you continue this unreasonable behavior, I won’t hesitate to call the police."

Seeing the situation spiraling out of control, the lawyer quickly pulled at Ji Fu’s sleeve and said to Jiang Yao, "President Jiang, we’re here to solve a problem, not to start a fight. Since you’re unwilling to hand her over, we’ll have to take legal action."

Jiang Yao remained composed, crossing his arms over his chest. "Be my guest. However, I’d advise you to get your facts straight before you make any decisions. The relationship between Ji Xiaosong and the Ji family is likely not as simple as you imagine. If this blows up, it won’t do the Ji family’s reputation any favors."

Ji Fu and the lawyer exchanged a look, both feeling a pang of hesitation.

There was truth to what Jiang Yao said. Although they wanted to drag Ji Xiaosong away by force, if this actually went to court, the outcome was uncertain. Moreover, the Ji family’s dirty laundry would likely be aired in public.

Just then, Jiang Yao’s assistant quietly approached and whispered something in his ear.

Jiang Yao gave a slight nod, then said to Ji Fu and the lawyer, "I’ve already had someone look into a few things about the Ji family. If you insist on taking Ji Xiaosong, I’m afraid that information will be made public very soon. And when that happens, the Ji family’s reputation will be..."

Ji Fu’s expression turned grim at his words. He knew Jiang Yao wasn’t bluffing.

After much hesitation, he finally gritted his teeth. "Fine. We’ll drop it for today. But you remember this: Ji Xiaosong belongs to the Ji family, and sooner or later, I will bring her back!"

With that, he and the lawyer scurried away from Starry Entertainment.

At that moment, Ji Xiaosong was sitting in a car with her mother, completely oblivious to what had just transpired at the company.

Jiang Yao watched them leave, a faint, almost imperceptible smile playing on his lips as he murmured to himself, "It’s not that easy to lay a hand on her."
