Chapter 23
The Song Family Is in Disaster, The Demon Slayers Are Here
On the left was his personal maidservant, Xiao Mei, and on the right was his night guard, Li Cheng. They had all died from bleeding from their seven orifices. Their eyes were wide open, and they were in a gruesome and terrifying state. It was obvious that they had suffered a great deal of agony before they died.
The two people who were still alive and lively yesterday were now dead.
Song Shi’s face instantly turned ashen as he clenched his fists tightly.
Although there was a master-servant difference between him and these servants, he did not care much about these feudal concepts. Moreover, they had lived together for so many years, how could he not have any feelings towards them?
“That’s too much! I’ve never wanted to kill anyone so much!”
With a cold light in his eyes, Song Shi’s face darkened. Without a word, he slowly walked out.
After a few steps, another dead body who died in a similar fashion appeared under the date tree. It was Aunt Zhang, who was in charge of washing clothes. This kind woman in her forties, whose son had just gotten married, was holding the date tree like she was trying to stand up before she died.
Song Shi was expressionless, “Aunt Zhang, I will avenge you!”
Perhaps because she got a response, Aunt Zhang let out her last breath. Her stiff body suddenly softened and she slowly lay on the ground. The grievance on her face dissipated a little.
“Before a person dies, if they are in a lot of pain and unwillingness, there will be a lingering grievance that will not dissipate. If this grievance lasts for a long time, there is a possibility of corpse transformation or evil ghosts appearing. Your words eliminated this problem.”
A voice suddenly appeared behind him. Song Shi’s hair stood on end. He did not notice anyone approaching.
Killing intent flashed in his eyes. He turned around and punched without hesitation.
BANG!
A soft and white hand easily caught his fist.
The strength of Song Shi’s full-powered punch disappeared like a clay ox entering the sea. However, the wind released by his fist blew away the fallen leaves on the ground and caused the other party’s clothes to flutter slightly.
“You are quite strong. You already have the strength of an elephant. Unfortunately, your method of exerting strength is shallow. You are only relying on brute force.”
The person who received Song Shi’s punch commented lightly. He was tall and had the appearance of a youth. He wore a special black robe and had a handsome face. His hands were like white jade which emitted a sparkling luster.
A jade-colored luster flashed, and Song Shi was directly repelled by an incomparably flexible force. He retreated to the jujube tree forcefully, causing it to shake until it broke with a crack.
After forcing him back, the other party did not move again. Instead, he looked at him with interest. “From your tone, it seems that you are a member from the Song family who has just returned?”
“Who are you?”
Song Shi could immediately tell that this person was not an enemy. Otherwise, he would have taken advantage of his weakness to kill him.
He stared at this person. His long hair fell casually, and his temperament was elegant and otherworldly. Because he was wearing black clothes, it made his skin look even fairer. He felt that this person was a young master like him.
However, judging from the Embroidered Spring Saber hanging on his waist and a silver token with red words engraved on it, he was definitely not a playboy.
“The Red Silver Commander of the Great Qian Demon Slayers, Sikong Ya!”
The young man said, “I was ordered to chase after the demon here. Coincidentally, the Song family was targeted by the demon, so I came to check.”
“Demon Slayer Division… Demon…”
Song Shi frowned, his face cold, “Do you know the whereabouts of the demon who harmed my family?”
“We are still investigating. Since he made a move here, he should still be in Silken City.”
Sikong Ya was a little surprised that this person was not afraid of him and instead, spoke to him as an equal.
‘Please take me with you, if you can.’
Song Shi said solemnly.
“Aren’t you afraid? Us, Demon Slayers often have to deal with alarming things.”
Sikong Ya teased.
“He’s already killed so many of my people. Even if he’s an immortal, I’ll kill him sooner or later!”
There was a hint of ruthlessness in Song Shi’s eyes. This was something that had never happened before.
“Ambitious!”
Sikong Ya nodded slightly, but he did not agree immediately. Instead, he asked, “What is your status in the Song Clan?”
“The seventh son of the Song family, Song Shi!”
“Oh, I thought you were the son of a servant.”
Sikong Ya was surprised, “Then I don’t think there’s a need for you to be so bitter. Your father must have escaped.”
“The old man isn’t dead?”
Song Shi’s expression softened slightly. Other than his mother, this was the only family he acknowledged.
“The ones who died were mainly the servants and maids. Many of your Song family members escaped. They’re hiding in the government office in fear.”
Sikong Ya’s expression was profound, “Are you still going to avenge them?”
“Yes!”
Song Shi did not hesitate. “People have feelings. Even if they were servants, they are still my people. Whoever kills them will die!”
Sikong Ya couldn’t help but take another look at Song Shi. This fellow’s strength wasn’t much but his confidence was enough to move even him.
Swoosh!
A man in black appeared and knelt on one knee. “Commander Sikong, excluding those who escaped, a total of 367 people from the Song family have died. Most of them died from voodoo magic and a few were killed by ghosts. The entire Song family manor has been cursed by the voodoo. We have to burn it down to eliminate the effects.”
“Get the people from the government office to help us get some materials. Ban all outsiders from approaching. We’ll start burning later!”
Sikong Ya nodded and gave his orders.
The man in black replied and looked at Song Shi for a moment. He then transformed into a phantom and disappeared in a flash at the entrance of the courtyard.
Song Shi could still see that there was a similar token hanging on his waist, but the color and material were different.
“Why did the demon attack our Song family?”
Song Shi was puzzled.
“It’s very complicated. There are many factors concerning power and benefits behind his motive. Moreover my guess is that your Song family has provoked him before. According to my guess, he’s mainly using voodoo like the Gu worms, but he may be raising ghosts too!”
Sikong Ya stopped talking abruptly, “I can’t tell you anymore details. This is our organization’s secret. Who knows if you have anything to do with that demon?”
“I want to know where he is. If you find him, let me know.”
Song Shi had never wanted to kill someone so badly.
“You have no right to know.”
Sikong Ya’s expression was indifferent, “What if the news leaks, if I tell you? I’m afraid that the demon will cause heavy casualties then.”
Song Shi was silent. This Demon Slayers Division was probably similar to the special forces he knew about. The confidentiality of information must be very important.
“I’ll check it myself!”
Song Shi did not say anything else. He turned around and walked out. He wanted to see what was going on and also hoped to find some clues.
“Wait!”
Sikong Ya suddenly added, “Your physical strength is very strong. You should have some special Talent, right?”
“Innate Divine Strength, does having bronze skin and iron bones count?” Song Shi replied calmly.
“I see. I was wondering why you were so strong even though your Genuine Qi wasn’t thick. So you actually have some Talents. Are you interested in joining the Demon Slayers? You can take revenge then.”
“What are the benefits, disadvantages and constraints?”
Song Shi didn’t mind learning more about it.
“The advantage is that you can come into contact with many experts, including martial arts superhumans and immortal cultivators and you can obtain cultivation resources. The disadvantage is that you have to be obedient and complete all kinds of dangerous missions. This is the biggest disadvantage and constraint of being a Demon Slayer .”
When Song Shi heard this, he shook his head. “I don’t like to be restricted. Let’s leave it at that.”
With that, he walked out of the courtyard and started his investigation.
He firmly believed that wherever the enemy attacked, there would definitely be traces left.
“Interesting. You are quite a confident young man. Back then, I was also like this. Except because I was too confident and arrogant, it was easy for me to lose my life.”
Sikong Ya smiled. He didn’t think Song Shi would be able to investigate on his own.
…
