Chapter 995 - 995: Just Dungeon Diving With Odeta
“Wahahaha! It’s been so long, Sister Aster! It feels like forever since we last did this together!” Odeta laughed, clapping me on my back.
I think I’ve only been away for a few weeks at most… But I do agree with her that it does feel like forever since we last did this.
And by ‘this’ I meant that we were following our class to Dungeon dive again as their chaperone. This time we were diving in a Dungeon on the outskirts of the city that was marked as an E ranked Dungeon. It should be fine as the higher floors were still F ranked so the students who weren’t ready to tackle harder floors could still practice here while the better ones could attempt the E rank floors.
I watched as the group we’re in charge of today surrounded the single goblin wielding a club, all of them fulfilling their own role in the formation.
It might look like an overkill just for one goblin but these guys are, unfortunately for Odeta and I, the ones who weren’t as good so this was to be expected.
Speaking of which, Instructor Henry initially wanted Odeta and I to be split between two groups to take care of them but Odeta threw a big fuss and said that if she wasn’t grouped with me, she would just kill every monster they come across out of spite.
That’s why we’re in this position right now… Where Odeta was stuck behind me hugging me like what Mother would do except she was doing it without smushing my head in between her chest.
The goblin let out a shriek and tried to charge at the closest student, his club raised in the air.
The student he was targeting raised his longsword and blocked it, holding the club in place.
“Now!” He shouted, prompting the other three students to jump in and attack the goblin at the same time.
The goblin let out another shriek from three swords slashing his back open.
He stumbled back a step and the student he attacked quickly seized the chance to pull back his sword and thrust it forward, stabbing his blade towards the goblin’s neck.
Unfortunately, he missed and the sword ended up slicing the side of the goblin’s neck instead.
How the heck did you miss? And if you weren’t even confident of landing the blow in the first place, why not just slash at him instead?
While it was still a pretty bad wound, the goblin was still alive and he definitely got enraged from being wounded as the monster swung his club to smash it against the student’s side, forcing him back several steps as he held his abdomen in pain with his free hand.
I could have stopped it of course, I saw that coming from a mile away and it would have been a simple matter for me to just kill the Goblin from here or even pull the student to safety, but that’s not what I was here for.
The student tried to recover but the blow landed harder than he thought and he winced when he tried to straighten himself.
The goblin wasted no time in charging forward with his club raised once again.
Thankfully, the others weren’t that stupid as they rushed in to help their team mate.
One of them slashed at the neck but she didn’t have the strength to completely decapitate the head and ended up getting her sword stuck on the bone.
The other two decided to thrust their swords as well, their blades stabbing into the goblin’s body at the same time.
The Goblin gurgled before his body went limp, the club dropping on the ground with a dull thud.
The student who just had his life saved gasped, “Tha… Thanks… For the help. Almost got me there…”
His teammates gave him a thumbs up.
“No need to worry! That’s what the team is for right?”
“Yeah, we need to work together!”
“We just need to keep practicing!”
As I started to approach them with the intention of healing the boy who got hit, I suddenly paused as I heard footsteps coming towards us.
Normally, this shouldn’t be surprising as it wasn’t like we were the only ones in the Dungeon and these footsteps could just belong to another group of Dungeoneers who happen to be hunting here as well.
But I felt the hair on the back of my neck stand and I couldn’t help but feel a little concerned.
And it seems like it wasn’t just me who felt that way because Odeta also straightened herself and seemed to be more alert now, though she still continued to hug me.
The other students didn’t seem to notice the footsteps until they were right around the corner.
A group of five adult Mahuns appeared, all of them armed to the teeth which was, once again, not odd for someone in the Dungeon.
The odd thing was how they also had ropes and they were looking at us with sinister grins on their faces.
“See? I told you this would be easy.”
“Yeah, four kids struggling against a goblin and two of them who are just here to flirt. Easy grabs.”
“Here, here kids~ Do you want some candy? Because we have some candies for you if you follow us~”
Oohhh~ Did he say candy?!
Ahem… No, no. They’re obviously lying…
Right then, from behind us, another three men stepped out and by the smirks they were also giving us, I can make a guess that they are part of the same team.
The four students had no idea what was happening and were looking in my direction for help so I guess it’s time for us to step in.
“You guys are illegal slavers I take it? Or maybe just bandits thinking you can kidnap some students from Aerialla Academy and ask their families for a ransom?”
One of the guys grinned, “Looks like we have a smart one here~ That’s right, we’re going to kidnap you all and we’re asking your mommies and daddies for some money~”
One of the bandits grinned, “Hey, she doesn’t look that bad either. Think we can have some fun with her body before we take her? I wanna fuck her until she’s–“
He didn’t get to finish his words as Odeta had already leapt towards him, closing the distance between them in a single leap and grabbing him by his face.
Without a moment’s hesitation, she spun around and smashed the guy into the wall with enough force to smash the back half of his head to pieces and explode into blood and brain matter all over the wall.
She then spun around and punched the nearest bandit before they could even comprehend what had just happened to their colleague, her fist burying into his abdomen and sending the poor dude flying towards the wall and smashing into it with a loud crack.
The guy was even wearing steel chestplate and that was crushed inwards by the punch.
“You bitch!!” One of the bandits cried out, finally recovering to start attacking her and prompting the other two to attack as well.
Behind us, the three who were meant to cut off our escape also started running towards us but since they were still a distance away, I didn’t need to engage them yet.
I got to see Odeta sidestep a sword swing to grab the guy’s wrist and crush the bone in her hand, causing the bandit to yell out in pain and drop his weapon.
She continued to hold on to his wrist as she delivered a snap kick to another bandit’s knee, the bone snapping with a loud crack and bending it backwards.
Odeta ignored the cries of pain and lifted the bandit with the broken wrist up above her head to slam him down on the final bandit that had tried to rush at her, smashing both men onto the ground.
She then turned back to the guy that she broke the knee of to grab him by his head with both hands before she brought it down to smash her knee into his face.
He got flung up to smash into the ceiling before falling back down to crash on top of the pile of the other two bandits, who were already dead from the impact.
I turned my attention back to the last three bandits that were on the other side of the corridor, all of them having skidded to a stop after seeing the five get so brutally killed effortlessly.
They turned around trying to run away but I moved at that instance and slashed my Shadow Sword out in an arc before letting it disappear.
They ran for a few steps before their heads suddenly separated from their bodies and all three tumbled onto the floor, dead.
Hmm… For there to be kidnappers here, I better go inform Instructor Henry and–
“Sister Aster is so cool!! Wahahahaha!” Odeta laughed, pulling me back into a hug.
Ugh… Odeta… You have blood all over you…
But seriously, how Odeta massacred them was also cool though.
