[Alchemy: The slow and delicate process of creating things by combining and mixing various objects together. To gain proficiency, research and test various concoctions and create your own.]

So apparently it was that easy to get the alchemy skill… I actually spent points to buy it too…

But that leaves the question of what happens now that I’ve gotten the skill myself? Do I get a refund or does it increase to the next tier when it comes?

Or… Do I not get anything at all but a ‘too bad so sad’?

Putting that aside…

“Congratulations on becoming an alchemist, Miss Aster! And you were even worried that you didn’t have talent!” Lisa giggled while clapping enthusiastically.

“Umm… That seems rather simple? A little anticlimactic too, to be honest.”

“Eheheh~ Normally it’s not that simple you know? Most of the time people would have trouble with the infusing of mana, either putting in too little or too much which would end up ruining the entire process! But you did it on your first try! Miss Aster truly is a genius!”

“Ah… Maybe it has something to do with the fact that I already know how to use my mana?”

“That might be the case but you’re still talented! It took me about three months before I managed to make my own potion, you know?!”

Wow… Ok, I can see why it might take that long since they would have to learn how to control their mana from scratch. On the other hand, I already learned mana control from a really young age and practised it to the point that it’s almost second nature to me right now.

This is definitely something that only someone who had been transmigrated would be able to do.

Lisa suddenly let out a gasp, “Oh my gosh! I just realised something!!”

I eyed her worriedly, did she realise that I was an Off-Worlder?

She clapped her hands excitedly, “This means that when Miss Aster becomes famous, I could be known as someone who taught you! Then I can use this fact to get famous and rich! I can be known as the genius’s alchemical teacher Lisa!”

I couldn’t help but giggle at her proclamation before gesturing to the potion, “So… What is this, actually?”

“Ehehe~ That’s a Lesser healing potion! Even potions have various grades with the lowest one starting at lesser potions!”

I waited for her to elaborate more but she just grinned at me. I’m guessing she’s really settling into her teacher role and she wants me to ask the questions.

“And what comes after that, teacher?”

“Ehehehe! I’m a teacher~ Ah! Ahem… In ascending order, you get Lesser, Minor, Intermediate, Greater and finally Grand grade potions!”

“And what is the difference between the levels and how do you tell these potions apart?”

Naturally I can use my [Screen] to do it for me but I still want to know the difference without it, just like how Lisa had told me how to identify these ingredients as well.

She clapped her hands together and rushed towards another area of her workshop, digging through the cupboards until she returned holding four vials with each of them containing the same red coloured liquid inside of them.

When she placed them down beside my potion, the first thing I noticed was the different sizes of the vials. You might think the better grade potions would occupy the larger vials but they were actually the smallest.

Lisa gestured to the vial that was the size of a shot glass, “This one’s a Grand healing potion! As you can see, the higher grade potions are smaller in size because it’s more concentrated, hence the darker colouration as well! Do be careful though! There are unscrupulous alchemists who would try to use smaller vials to sell you inferior potions and claim them to be the superior grade ones! That’s why it’s best that you take note of the colour more than the size of the vial!”

“But doesn’t that mean that you can make more higher grade potions per batch?”

“You would think that this is the case right? But nope! It’s because more ingredients and mana are used, making the liquid become more concentrated! So even if you use the big cauldron to craft it, you might only end up with this small potful of the Grand grade after you are done~”

That’s actually still quite a lot… Though I assume that the ingredients and mana needed to make this would be significantly higher which makes it only accessible to the best of alchemists.

Which brings about the question of how Lisa has this too. Did she purchase them or did she make them herself?

The look on my face must have given away my curiosity since Lisa quickly added, “Oh! These were made by my grandma! She’s a really, really great alchemist! So good in fact, that she once worked for the Royal Family before retiring to set up a shop here! Grandma said it was better for her to serve the common populace than to restrict herself to the nobles, which is why I’m here too!”

I giggled, “Seems like you really look up to your grandmother huh?”

“Ehehe~ She did teach me everything I know and brought me up after all. I… I may not have been the greatest child but she was very patient with me. So I really do respect her!”

“She must have been a really nice lady.”

Lisa looked a little melancholic, “She really was. I can only hope that I would be able to live up to her legacy too.”

“I’m sure you would! You were the one who taught me alchemy right?”

“Yeah! Ehehehe~ You’re really nice, Miss Aster~ Are you sure you don’t want to marry me?”

“Ufufu~ Maybe you can try asking again after I’ve come of age~”

“Waaah!! I’ll hold you to that, Miss Aster! I’ll be sure to look for you in another six years and propose to you again! I’ll make myself so pretty you wouldn’t be able to say no!”

“I’ll wait for that day then~”

“Hnnnggg! Please don’t seduce me anymore, Miss Aster!! My heart can barely take it anymore!”

But I’m not even doing anything though?

Deciding to change the topic, I pointed at the potions again, “So what are the effects of these?”

Lisa quickly recovered back into her teacher mode and grinned, “The Lesser ones can heal small cuts and bruises; the Minor ones can heal larger wounds; the Intermediate ones can heal small fractures; the Great ones can heal broken bones; and the Grand ones can regenerate limbs!”

Oh? Regeneration of limbs is actually possible?

Wait… So does that mean that Katsuki’s father could have survived if he had a Minor or Intermediate potion on him?

That’s… Not exactly reassuring…

“Umm… How common are these healing potions actually?” I asked.

Lisa pointed to each one in turn, “The Lesser ones are quite common actually! You can get one for as low as one Crea! Though if supplies are scarce, they can go up to five Creas too. Minor healing potions can be anywhere from five to ten Creas, Intermediate potions could start from twenty Creas and go up to fifty, maybe even more for some places.”

I looked at the last two, “What about those?”

“Oh, those two you could most likely never come across them being sold across the counter! You’ll need to go to an auction for that and I heard a Grand potion’s starting bid can be at a hundred thousand Creas.”

I gasped and pointed at the shot glass sized vial in front of her.

That little thing is worth at the minimum of one large gold coin?!

She giggled and nodded to affirm what I was thinking.

Then again… I suppose I shouldn’t be surprised, we are talking about being able to regrow limbs after all. An Iatromancer would need to devote their entire life to training in that magic to reach tier four in order to do the same.

And to make these potions, the alchemist should also be at tier four as well, not to mention also needing the ingredients to make it.

One question though…

“And you’re fine with just showing these to a person you just met today? Aren’t you afraid that I might steal it?”

“Ehehe~ I trust Miss Aster! Though if you really want it, you don’t need to steal it, I can just give it to you!”

“Eh?! But why?!”

“Because I’ll marry you in the future anyway! You’re worth much more than anything I have!”

Why… Why is she such a good sweet talker?! Ahhhh!! I’m sure I’m blushing right now!!
