Chapter 763: Time To Be A Stalker
I looked down at the map that I had copied from Greia, double checking that the building she had marked was indeed the one that was in front of me.
The inn itself looked relatively normal. In fact, it’s one of the smaller ones located at the edge of the town and I would even say it was fairly unpopular because of its location.
This area was quite far from the market and there weren’t any stores nearby either. Which meant that the people staying here most likely either chose this place because there was no other inn available… Or that they wanted to stay away from everyone else.
It was nearing night time as well and according to Greia, this person would usually leave at night before disappearing outside of town.
That’s why I had intentionally positioned myself opposite the building to watch its entrance, hoping to catch them leaving it so that I could check if it was the Off-Worlder with [Screened].
I briefly considered going inside and searching for the Off-Worlder but I didn’t want to risk her noticing me and realising I was onto her.
Besides, I don’t know what she looked like and I was planning to just use [Screened] on everyone that left the inn tonight.
I pulled on my hood to make sure it was properly hiding my face before I continued to lean against the wall while watching the inn.
This part of the town was quiet but there was still foot traffic walking around with the locals returning back home from a day of work while others that look like Mercenaries or merchants were searching for a place to stay the night or to have some night activities.
Heck, I think I can hear some slapping sounds coming from around the corner already… And there’s more than one of them too…
I tried my best to ignore the sounds and continued my surveillance on the inn, waiting for the person to appear.
And I waited…
And waited…
And waited…
Someone that was doing it from around the corner let out a grunt followed by the sound of something spurting out.
I continued to wait…
A woman walked past me, shooting me a glance and pausing for a moment before continuing on.
I used [Screened] on her and saw that she was not an Off-Worlder so I ignored her.
And waited…
A male and female Mahun appeared from around the corner that the slapping sounds were coming from, both of their clothes a little messy while their hands were still touching each other.
There were still slapping sounds coming from there by the way, obviously from another couple having fun.
Ugh… Now I’m regretting turning down Linette’s offer of accompanying me for this stake out… She even offered to blow me while we waited too…
Hey, how was I supposed to know that I had to wait so long for this idiot to appear and that there would be couples having public fun nearby?!
Ughh… I miss my girls already… I wonder if they were having fun back at home?
So many things happened so quickly that I even forgot to give them the [Ring Of Shared Thoughts] that I got from the Dungeon too…
Well… Actually, not really ‘forget’, but since I thought these were rings and all… I wanted to give them in a special way instead of just simply handing them one each…
I wanted it to be special damnit!
Anyway… This person is really taking their own sweet time coming out of the inn huh? Should I just bust down the door and… Eh?
Just as I thought of that, I noticed a cloaked figure running away from the back of the inn to head towards the exit.
Wait, I made sure to check around the building and saw that there was no back door to the inn… Did this bitch notice me and jump out from the window at the back?!
That futa had already disappeared into the street, preventing me from using [Screened] on her.
Damnit! Is she really my target or not?!
I quickly used [Shadow Wall] and [Shadow Glide] on myself to follow behind the bitch.
When I turned the corner, I saw her leaping up onto one of the roofs before hopping away, using the roofs to move above the streets.
Arrghhh!! Come back here you little…
I used [Link Portal] to teleport myself into the air, my wings spreading out to slow my fall as I looked for the person that was jumping around on the roof.
I found the figure easily enough just as they leapt past the border of the town to start running towards the direction of Lehcarouc Kingdom.
Dropping closer towards her, I quickly set my sights on her and used [Screened] to check her name.
[Name: Sherry
Title: Fu–
When I saw that the name that popped up was not ‘Razzle Dazzle Rex’, I flared my wings and slowed my descent, losing interest in the person completely and even closing the screen that popped up.
I can’t believe I wasted my time waiting for her only to realise that it wasn’t even my target.
Oh whatever, I guess I can just tick her off the map and proceed to look for the other four… Now who should I start with next?
Just as I took out the map, I saw a very small flash of light coming from the direction of where that Sherry futa had disappeared to.
I would have most definitely missed seeing it if I wasn’t facing in that direction to begin with and I wasn’t at the height I was currently at.
At first I thought it was merely a trick of the light until I realised what the light could actually be: a signal.
Like a signal to Sherry to meet up with the person who shone the light.
I put my map away and decided that I might as well just solve the mystery of why this person was even here and who she was meeting.
I dove towards the ground and levelled myself just above the forest that she had disappeared into, keeping my eyes peeled for the futa while I flew in the direction of where the light had been.
It didn’t take long for me to find her as a shadow leaping through the undergrowth, prompting me to slow down to match her speed.
She didn’t seem to notice me as she flitted through the bushes without making a sound, making me wonder just what kind of skill she had to be able to sneak through the forest like that and what she could possibly be doing.
One thing I know for sure though, I know why the others could not keep up with her and lose sight of her as soon as she leaves the town.
She ran past the trees and I kept my eye on her as I glided through the air, my magic keeping me hidden.
At least, I had believed my magic had kept me hidden the entire time but it seemed like I was wrong because this girl suddenly spun around and threw something directly at me.
I barely managed to tilt myself to avoid the thing she threw before steadying myself again.
When I looked back down however, she was already gone, leaving no trace behind.
The heck? How did she even know I was above her?! I was practically invisible in the dark and I didn’t even make a sound!
I could have just flown back to the town at this point since I was only following her for curiosity’s sake but now she has made it personal.
I circled around the area for a bit, trying to see if I could spot her.
On my third circle, I saw a shadowy figure duck behind a tree and I hid a smile.
Got you…
Making a mental note of where the tree was, I made a show of acting frustrated before flying towards the town.
When I was sure that I was out of sight, I quickly teleported myself back to where I had seen the shadow except this time I was on foot.
I kept my [Shadow Wall] magic active and snuck towards the tree in question, easily spotting that Sherry futa hiding behind it while looking up at the sky, probably waiting to see if I would return.
I thought I would need to be stuck here for a while but it seemed like she was satisfied with the outcome of her attack and turned to continue running.
That was when I realised my skill level in moving through forests as sneakily and as quickly as she could was practically zero compared to her.
Well thank the gods I have [Shadow Glide] which was my cheat code in sneaking!
I continued to tail her until we got to a clearing where the light I had seen earlier had been in.
She stopped in the middle and she seemed to be staring straight at the darkness of the forest as though she was waiting for something to appear.
And sure enough, a cloaked figure wearing a mask appeared from the darkness…
I’m so glad I waited that long now.
