Chapter 653: Impromptu Fight Club
We went down another floor and this seemed to be a boss room.
There were also people waiting or even camping here, the two groups separating themselves to occupy two different lanes in the corridor.
Unsurprisingly, all eyes turned to us when we entered.
Ugh… Now I really don’t want to be in an enclosed space with other parties because I know exactly what would happen in that scenario.
Thus… In order to prevent that from happening, I decided to strike first.
I stood in front of everyone, crossed my arms and puffed up my chest to create as imposing of a pose as I could before sucking in a breath.
“We’re only interested in girls! So don’t bother approaching us unless you’re a pretty girl!!”
Silence reigned after my declaration for a minute before a few of them started laughing.
One rather large sized man stood up from his group and strolled towards me with a confident gait.
“Hey, hey… You don’t really expect us to believe that when you’re going through a Dungeon like this right? We know you’re here for dick so just admit it.”
“I’m afraid you are wrong about that. What I’m saying now is the truth and I suggest that you back off.”
He smirked before leaning forward, “Oh? And what would happen if I said no?”
I checked his stats with [Screened] and realised that his highest stat was half of mine.
I thus decided to use a show of force to assert dominance so I grabbed him by the neck and lifted him up into the air, holding him there without much effort.
“Or else this would happen.”
I then tossed him aside and watched as he was flung towards the wall, crashing into it with a loud bang.
He bounced off the wall before crashing back down onto the floor, the poor man knocked unconscious.
A few of his friends immediately leapt up to their feet and shouted at me.
“Hey! That was uncalled for!”
“How dare you use violence you violent lady!”
“We demand compensation for this!”
I could have pointed out that I warned the guy first and he chose not to back off which meant he brought that upon himself.
But instead, I decided that the best way to make them back down was not using reasoning or logic.
I turned to stare at them, “What are you going to do about it? Fight me?”
Three of them charged towards me in a fit of rage.
How predictable…
I gave a mental command and Shadow Odeta stepped in front of me while I discreetly buffed her with [Strength]
She had enough strength to crush all of them even without my buff but I needed them to see an overwhelming display of strength to get the point across.
She grabbed two of them and threw one at the third guy while smashing the second one on the ground.
She then stomped her foot on the second guy’s abdomen, knocking the wind out of him as he let out a gasp of pain before kicking him rolling away.
The other two were in the midst of getting back up when Shadow Odeta leapt on top of them, punching one across the face and knocking him out before kicking the last guy again and sending him flying back.
In just five seconds flat, those three Dungeoneers were beaten down without being able to do anything at all.
Shadow Odeta then dusted her hands before returning to my side, standing just a step behind me like a guardian.
I smiled at the others in the waiting room, “Does anyone else want to try?”
Most of them turned away and tried to make themselves look busy.
There was, however, one man who stood up from the crowd while hefting his longsword on his shoulder.
He had a scar that stretched from the top of his head down past his left eye to stop on his cheek. He was also wearing a rather intricately decorated plate armour which made him look quite imposing.
He grinned, “Oh, don’t get the wrong idea. I believe your words about not being interested in us. But after you showed us such a spectacle like that, I can’t help but want to have a duel with your party member over there! Could I ask to have a round or two with her?”
Oh great, it seems like my plan backfired a little here…
While I got rid of the perverts, I have attracted the muscleheads now…
I was about to tell him no when I suddenly got an idea.
I tilted my chin at him, “What’s in it for us?”
He frowned, “What do you mean?”
“We’re going to fight the boss of this floor soon to advance to the lower floor. You’re now asking us to potentially endanger ourselves to satisfy your thirst for battle where we could end up too exhausted to fight the boss later. So what’s in it for us?”
He let out a bark of laughter, “Hahaha! I understand! Let’s make this interesting then! Let’s bet on who will win the duel! How about that?”
That’s what I was hoping for.
Unbeknownst to him, I have already used [Screened] on all of them so I know that no one here had stats higher than three hundred.
Since I’ve been constantly accosted by people like them, why shouldn’t I use this to my advantage?
I pretended to consider his words, “How much are we talking here?”
He grinned at me, “Haha! Since this would just be a friendly spar… How about we just keep things simple? One Crea to the winner!”
I shook my head, “Oh no, no. Our time is much more valuable than that. Tell you what, I have a better idea. We’ll take on any of you in a one on one fight, but the entry fee is a hundred Creas. If you win a fight with any of us, you get two hundred Creas back. Deal?”
A hundred Creas is quite a lot of money for someone like these people to fork out, so I was aiming to cut down the number of challengers by setting it at such a high price. But the fact that you could double that money would be quite enticing to some of the Dungeoneers and they would no doubt want to try it out too.
The scarred face swordsman seemed a little taken aback by my suggestion but he quickly recovered and let out a delighted laugh.
“Hahaha! So you’re that confident of your party I see! Ahahaha! Alright then! Let’s do it! I’m willing to bet on this!
A hundred Creas it is!!”
He dug into his pouch and fished out a small silver coin to pass it to me as his entry fee so I stepped aside and allowed him to go up against Shadow Odeta.
“Is it fine for me to use a weapon while she is unarmed?” He asked.
I scoffed, “Giving her a weapon would be making her weaker.”
“Hahaha! I see! I see! Alright then! I guess I should get serious!”
The both of them assumed their stances and the swordsman was the one who made the first move.
He charged at her with his sword raised in a thrusting motion, the blade aimed for her neck.
Shadow Odeta took a step forward and… That was all the guy saw before he found Odeta standing right beside him and inside his guard, completely catching him by surprise.
She had buffed herself with both [Strength] and [Body Current] to kick the ground and propel herself forward, covering the distance between her and the swordsman in an instant.
Before he could even reach, Shadow Odeta had delivered a swift punch into his abdomen,
There was a loud crack before the swordsman was sent flying away and crashed into the other end of the tunnel, imprinting himself on the wall.
The poor guy then fell face first onto the ground and remained there, unmoving. That swordsman had been knocked out cold from just a single blow.
Well… That was the easiest hundred Creas I have ever earned!
Now I wonder if I could–
“Hey! I wanna fight next!”
“Wait! Me too! I want to fight the cold faced beauty at the back!”
“I want to fight the leader herself!”
Instead of being deterred at the sight, a good number of the Dungeoneers actually leapt to their feet and requested a duel as well with their silver coins in hand while making weird requests.
For some reason, there seemed to be quite a number of them who wanted to fight me especially.
I guess it’s because I look weaker than everyone else in the party or something?
At least that was my hypothesis until they started talking again.
“Could I request that you use only your feet? I want to be stepped on!”
“Hey! Don’t be ridiculous! How could you ask something like that?! I also want to be stepped on!!”
“Go and wait your turn! I suggested it first!”
“No, I came first! So it’s me that you should be listening to!”
“Please step on us!!”
…
What the fuck.
