Chapter 571 Renegade Devourer

I turned back to see a giant sized Shadow Devourer that was at least six stories high roaring at me.

What the fuck?!

What the hell happened to him?! How did he even turn into that?!

Unfortunately, it’s not like I could ask Fuckface what happened since he was knocked out at the moment.

“Gwen! Protect that bastard! I’ll take care of this guy!” I ordered.

I didn’t wait for her response since the monster version of Jurga was rushing towards me right now.

I fired off a [Static Bolt] while calling up more of my Shadow Guards to even out the fight.

The paralysing effect of the spell only lasted for a second before it broke free, the monster barrelling into Eins, Zwei and Drei.

The three of them stood their ground and bore the brunt of its charge with several of the others buffing them, which seemed to be enough to stop it from advancing any further for the moment.

Several of my Shadow Guards then used [Laser] to try and kill it, but unexpectedly, shields made of darkness appeared around the monster and absorbed the light, rendering the attack useless.

If light didn’t work… How about fire?

My Shadow Guards quickly switched tactics and started blasting it with multiple [Fire Blast] spells.

This time, the dark shield did not protect the monster and the flames burned the monster, causing it to recoil back from the fire as parts of its body were burned away.

It raised its arms and smashed down on top of the three girls, creating a shockwave that sent a number of my Shadow Guards flying away.

Eins, Zwei and Drei still managed to hold on but even I could tell they took quite a lot of damage from that.

I started to heal them before the monster swung its other arm around, smashing into Eins’s side which flung her against the other two, sending the three of them flying away.

Seems like it has some skill at least.

Interestingly, instead of being intimidated by the sight, I actually found myself clenching my fists in anticipation.

Let’s see who is better, shall we?

I directed a few of my Shadow Guards to be on support duty and joined the fight as well with my Light Sword.

Was there a reason for me to jump in myself? Not really. But come on, let me have some fun too~

It turned in my direction as though sensing my intentions, raising its claws to meet me.

I poured my mana into the sword and I felt my strength spike thanks to the support from my Shadow Guards.

Just as I was about to reach the monster, I leapt into the air and used [Link Portal] to teleport myself behind the Renegade Devourer.

It was confused for a moment, but that was enough time for me to bring the blade down on the monster’s back.

Just as the sword was about to strike, another shield made of darkness formed behind it to defend against my attack, except that my sword cut through it quite easily.

The strike left a deep gash on the monster but of course there was no blood from the wound. Instead, black miasma seemed to seep out from it but it closed up almost immediately after receiving the strike.

I guess he could also heal himself with darkness or something.

The monster turned and its eyes shone, causing the hair on the back of my neck to stand.

lightsnοvεl I threw myself to the side on instinct, just in time to avoid a hand reaching up from below that had tried to grab at me.

From the shadow, another Renegade Devourer rose up after the first one summoned it, ready to fight as well.

Damn, I forgot it could call up more as well. But I believe it should be limited to one right?

No big deal, it’s not like I’m the one that is outnumbered here anyway. All I needed to do was to direct a portion of my Shadow Guards to deal with the new one while I dealt with the original Renegade Devourer.

Eins, Zwei and Drei joined my side as my support while I took to the air with a single flap of my wings.

I dived down towards it from above, my Light Sword poised in a stabbing pose.

It raised its claws and tried to swat me out of the air, only to stumble when Eins rushed up and punched it in the knee.

I stabbed my sword into its arm, the light piercing through both the shield that appeared and the limb I was aiming at. More miasma seeped out from the wound even while it was trying to heal itself but failed since my sword was still stuck in it.

The monster flung its arms in an arc and I was sent flying back, smashing against the wall on the other side.

Almost immediately, I felt the familiar sensation of a [Heal] spell take root on me and I was already back on my feet.

So this is how my party feels when they have me for support huh? I could just throw myself at the enemy and not worry about being hurt.

Quite a dangerous line of thought I would say.

But whatever, just for this, I am quite appreciative of the support that allowed me to concentrate on the fight.

I dove back in while the Renegade Devourer was occupied with Eins, its fists raised in preparation to smash down on top of her.

Using [Breeze] I propelled myself towards its hands and activated my Valour Skill.

“[Sixfold Multi Slash]!”

Six slashes materialised despite me only swinging my sword once, completely cutting off the monster’s hands at the wrist just as it swung its arms down.

The Renegade Devourer completely missed its attack and only realised its hands were cut off after a few seconds had passed.

In that small time frame, I had relocated myself above its head using [Link Portal] and dropped down on it with my Light Sword stabbing through its head.

I poured in even more of my mana and the blade made of light expanded until its tip pierced through the other side of its head.

I was expecting this to end the fight but dark miasma exploded out of the wound and blasted me back to smash into the ceiling.

“Young Mistress!” I heard Gwen shout out in worry.

It wasn’t a problem since my Shadow Guards immediately healed me right after so I could return to the fight again.

The other group fighting with the summoned Renegade Devourer was also holding their own rather well so I didn’t need to worry about them.

The hands that I had cut off from the original had already regenerated in the meantime and it seems like this monster had determined I was the bigger threat here and leapt after me.

I fired a [Static Bolt] to paralyse it for a second before using [Link Portal] to teleport behind it, right before its fist smashed into where I had been a moment ago.

I used my Valour Skill again and slashed at its back, opening up six wounds across its body and causing it to let out another shriek.

Hmm?

I’m not sure if I was imagining it but… Does it look a little smaller than before?

Ah… The miasma that was leaking out of it… Perhaps that was the reason?

I see now… This large body isn’t its actual body, it’s more like a suit of armour that the real one was wearing over itself.

Oh damn, that’s pretty cool~ I wonder if I could do that too?

You know, like make a giant version of myself using darkness and then fight giant monsters with it, heh heh heh~

Ahem… Putting that aside, I suppose its real body should be somewhere in the centre since I already tried stabbing through the head. I could probably kill it if I were to target there or just keep attacking it until all the miasma runs out.

While I was thinking, the Renegade Devourer had turned back to try to swipe at me again but I easily dodged it by flying higher and out of its reach.

It tried to leap at me but unexpectedly fell on its face when it tried to do so, looking at its feet to see Eins, Zwei and Drei holding on one of its feet to stop it.

That gave me the perfect opportunity to descend on its back, my Light Sword piercing through the centre where the shoulderblades met.

The result from that was an even bigger explosion of miasma but I did not get flung back this time. Instead, it felt more like I was being pulled in instead.

The entire body of the Renegade Devourer seemed to collapse into itself at where my blade pierced its body before suddenly disappearing, revealing just a single figure underneath me.

It wasn’t a Renegade Devourer but the actual body of Jurga, the Rejmar collapsed on the ground with my blade pierced through his chest.

Looks like he returned back to his original form huh…

And yeah… He’s dead.
