Chapter 485 I Need To Prepare A Speech?
That was… Anticlimactic…
But apparently the crowd didn’t think so and pretty much everyone was cheering crazily when it was announced that I won.
The girls from the Iatromancy class were clamouring for me to ‘finish him’ but I just ignored them.
President Daniel came up and clapped me on the shoulder, “Good job Aster, as expected of the ‘Untouchable Special Class Student’.”
I frowned, “That guy… How did he do it?”
The president grinned, “If you’re asking how he managed to learn eight different magic types to qualify for the challenge, he did not.”
“Huh? Then how…”
His smile got a little wider, “Ah, you see Aster, your challenge required the challenger to use at least eight different kinds of magic to fight you, but you never said that they had to be proficient in the magic themselves.”
I furrowed my brows, “Ugh… So that means Samuel qualified because he used… Seven different enchanted gear that allowed him to cast another seven different types of magic in this fight?”
“That is correct.”
“But… Just because he made use of that loophole to be able to challenge me doesn’t mean he can beat me with some basic enchanted gear that he would need to juggle around to fight me?”
“Oh, but that’s beside the point isn’t it?”
I rolled my eyes, “You knew he would lose anyway, didn’t you?”
He shrugged, “It is not my place to stop another student from issuing challenges when they fulfil the requirements to do so.”
…
So Samuel basically went out, bought a few enchanted items that allowed him to cast basic spells from the other schools of magic to qualify himself to challenge me, then went to get that all you can eat pass as a wager for this challenge… But he didn’t stop to think whether he would actually be able to beat me anyway…
And even though the student council knew that the poor boy did not stand any chance at all of winning, they let him proceed with the challenge anyway.
This poor guy…
Whatever, I get an all you can eat ticket to the biggest patisserie chain in the city, I’m not gonna complain~
Just as I picked up that ticket from Daniel, someone wrapped their arms around my waist and lifted me up.
I let out a cry of surprise until I realised it was Odeta who was lifting me up to sit on her shoulders.
“Wahahaha! That was so awesome, Aster!! You showed him!”
“W… Wah! Put me down, Odeta!”
“Wahahaha! No way! If I put you down now, they’ll get you instead!”
She spun me around while I was still on top of her shoulders to show a bunch of girls running towards me. I also noticed that Daniel took that chance to slink away and disappear into the crowd, leaving a group of students to carry the unconscious Samuel out of the training field.
“Waaah! Big sister Aster is so cool!”
“Sister Aster! Sister Aster! Look over here! Over here!”
“Can I shake your hand please?!”
“I knew Sister Aster would win!!”
What the heck, since when did I get fans like this?
I don’t remember getting mobbed like this when I’m in school so why are they all like this now?
“Wahahaha! Let’s run away, Aster! Hold on tight!”
I didn’t even get to protest before Odeta reached up to grab my hands before she literally jumped over the crowd with me still on her shoulders.
She then started running away while letting out a laugh, ignoring the disappointed shouts coming from the crowd we were running away from.
I could do nothing but hold on to her as she ran out of the school, only letting me down when we were completely out of sight from the crowd.
“What… What was that?” I asked after climbing down from her shoulders.
Odeta smirked, “Hehe~ They were told that they didn’t need to hold back in cheering for you today!”
I blinked at her, “What? Who’s they? Who told them–“
“Ah! Whoops! Did I say that out loud? Wahahaha! Forget what I said, Aster!”
No, no, no. I just heard something really troubling to me! What do you mean by that?! Who is–
“Mistress, congratulations on your victory. I have some cake prepared for you.”
I immediately turned towards Katsuki who had appeared out of thin air and started munching on the cake she had presented to me.
Yum!! Chocolate fudge with white chocolate pieces! I love you, Katsuki!!
What was I saying again?
“Oh yeah! School is ending soon isn’t it?” Odeta spoke up with a grin while I was licking my fingers clean of chocolate.
“That’s right~ Is Aster going to do a speech?” Delmare asked, making me wonder just how long she had been there since Katsuki had even prepared a chair for her to sit in while my Siren sipped on a cup of tea.
That got my attention as I turned to her, “What speech?”
She blinked at me, “Does Aster not know? The best students of each year would each give a speech at the end of the school year. I don’t think anyone else in our year is able to take that spot aside from you, Aster.”
What?! This is the first I’ve heard of this! Since when was this a thing?!
Ok, I have been skipping quite a number of classes in favour of self studying, but still!!
“Wahaha! I can’t wait to see Aster on stage too!” Odeta laughed.
Why?! You see me everyday don’t you? What’s the difference?! What am I even supposed to say there!
As though reading my mind, Katsuki spoke up, “You can say anything you want, Mistress. Most students would simply give some advice on how the other students can improve or even just recount on their experience within the school year.”
I made a face at her, “Do I really have to? Actually, it’s not confirmed that I’m the best student right?”
“Mistress… You’re the only student who managed to advance a Magic proficiency to the next tier within your first year studying here. There is no one else who would be able to claim that they are better than you without making themselves look like a fool.”
If you put it that way… I can’t say anything either…
Hey, how was I supposed to know that this wasn’t normal?! Besides, wasn’t there another Off-Worlder in the school as well?! Surely that means there are also other Off-Worlders here but they just never revealed themselves, right?!
Ugh… Ok, I guess even if there are, they obviously aren’t in my year or they would be amongst the Special Class students as well…
Whatever, it’s just a short speech right? Then I wouldn’t need to make it too grandiose and just giving a simple one would do. Yeah, problem solved.
Odeta turned to me, “But Sister Aster is picking me as your escort, right?”
Delmare immediately spoke while waving her hands around, “Wai… Wait… Umm… Shouldn’t… Shouldn’t I be the more suitable person to be Aster’s escort?”
Lisa literally popped out from the corner of the building with her hands raised up, “No, me!! I’ll be Aster’s escort! I’ll even wear a collar with a leash too!”
I turned to Katsuki in confusion.
She didn’t even hesitate before she started explaining, “At the end of the year, the school would also host a graduation ceremony which includes a ball at the end of the day. It is not mandatory to attend the ball but Special Class students are usually expected to do so to interact with the Special Class students from the other years. The main purpose of this is to simulate a noble’s ball to prepare students for such events in the future which means that Mistress would be expected to have an escort as well.”
“And that will be me!” Odeta declared confidently.
Delmare poked her fingers together, “The escorts are usually someone close to them and since Aster and I are now officially dating, I am the most suitable partner… I should escort her!”
Lisa pouted, “Hey! I started dating Aster first! So I should be her escort!”
My Siren pouted at her, “You’re a teacher here, Lisa. You can’t reveal that you’re dating a student can you?”
“I’ll just go in my real form!”
“But… But the others will pay attention to you which might lead to your cover being blown, right? So… so I would be the safest option to escort Aster!”
Umm… I mean… Is this really that important? It’s just accompanying me to the venue right? Can’t we all just do it together?
Odeta puffed her chest up, “Not fair! I met Sister Aster first! I should be the escort for Sister Aster!”
“Si… Since I am officially dating Aster, I am currently closer to Aster and more suitable to be her escort!”
The three of them were quite literally puffing up their cheeks at each other as they tried to argue their case while Katsuki prepared a cup of tea for me like this did not involve her.
Lisa seemed to have thought of something since she suddenly came up to me and hugged my face to her boobs, “It doesn’t matter what you say! It’s still up to Aster to decide! You’ll pick me right, Aster?!”
Odeta then pulled on my right arm in an attempt to dislodge me from Lisa’s chest, “Noooo! Sister Aster will pick me!”
Delmare joined in by tugging on my other arm, “No, no, Aster will pick me!”
…
Help…
