Wait, wait….. We’re really getting served tea by the Queen herself? Is this really ok?!
Isn’t this like a really big deal?!
I leaned towards the Queen, “Umm….. Your Majesty? This won’t bring trouble for us, would it?”
She turned to tilt her head at me, “Hmm? Why do you ask that, Lady Aster?”
“I mean… You are the Queen… Personally making tea for us… Isn’t that like a pretty big deal?”
“Oh, this is a much smaller thing as compared to having you prepare the tea, Lady Aster. Besides, this is something that I enjoy doing so you do not need to feel like I’m being forced to do this~”
Well… If she says so…
I turned to the side to look at Katsuki and Minnera but both of them weren’t showing any reactions to this so I guess I shouldn’t be freaking out.
Since that’s the case… I settled down to watch her prepare the tea.
Her movements were exceptionally elegant and it was beautiful to just watch her prepare the tea.
The slight smile on her face and the look of serenity as she prepared the tea showed that she wasn’t lying when she said this was something she enjoyed doing.
As she was preparing the water needed for the tea, the door slid open again and the maid returned with a bow.
“Your Majesty… The prince…” She reported before stepping aside.
Another Nekomata entered looking like they would rather be anywhere else than here.
The first thing I noticed was his striking golden hair that was tied up into a messy ponytail which I presume must have come from his father’s genes.
The next thing I noticed was the fact that despite his smaller frame as compared to the King, he still radiated an aura of strength and I have no doubt he could crush rocks with his bare hands with ease if he wanted to.
The last thing was the fact that he was definitely good looking in a charming sort of way.
He had that look that you might expect from those host club pretty boys and it doesn’t even look like he was trying either.
That was further accentuated by the fact that he was dressed smartly in very form fitting clothes that showed off his toned figure.
I have no doubt with his looks, he could attract any girl he wanted, except mine of course.
If he even dares to try and flirt with Katsuki or Minnera, I’ll break his jaw, even if he’s a prince.
He scratched the back of his head and sighed, “Mother… I already told you I have no interest in things like this… Isn’t it fine if my sisters are the ones accompanying you instead?”
Yep, he definitely doesn’t want to be here.
The Queen ignored him and gestured towards him while giving me a smile, “This, as you might have guessed, is the prince and current heir of the Nekinumi Kingdom, Prince Hisami Nekinumi.”
The prince froze, only just realising that we were here as well.
The Queen turned to him and gestured at us, “Hisami, this is Lady Aster who had just recently cleansed our Kingdom of the corruption within the police force. She has been granted middle citizenship and is a hero to our people so please treat her with respect.”
“Ah… Erm… Nice to meet you? I am Hisami, current first Prince of the Nekinumi Kingdom.”
I was about to stand when the Queen held my shoulder to push me back down to my seat, prompting me to turn to her in confusion.
Does she really expect me to greet the prince while seated down?
“No need to worry, Lady Aster. Someone who has shown up late like that does not require you to stand on ceremony either.”
Geez… It feels like you’re bullying your son here…
Well… I feel like I still need to greet him so I turned back and lowered my head slightly, “It is an honour to meet you, Prince Hisami. I am Aster, a Mercenary and Dungeoneer, leader of the White Dragon’s Sword Maidens party.”
The Queen then gestured towards her side, “Now, Hisami, take a seat, won’t you?”
For some reason, the prince seemed absolutely out of sorts as he slowly made his way to the Queen’s side and sat down on top of the cushion.
The Queen then clapped her hands together, “Great! Now everyone is here~ Where was I? Ah yes, the tea~ In the meantime, please bring the sweets, Nina~”
The maid bowed her head, “Right away, your Majesty…”
Oh!! Do I hear sweets?! I want sweets!!
The Prince cleared his throat, “Ahem… Umm… Lady Aster?”
I tilted my head at him, “Yes? Oh umm… What do you need, your Highness?”
“Ah, please just call me by my name. Since you are obviously an important person that has both my parents’ respect, it would not sit well for me to lord over you.”
I eyed the Queen to see if that was alright but she was intentionally not looking in my direction, as though she was trying to show that she was a completely uninvolved party.
Since the prince already requested this himself…
I nodded at him, “Please call me Aster as well, Prince Hisami.”
“You can drop the ’prince’ as well, Aster.”
“That would be too rude of me, Prince Hisami. Please allow this much from me,” I requested.
I don’t think there would be any benefit for being especially friendly to the Prince now so I want there to at least be some distance between us.
Who knows what kind of Royal dramaI might be involved in if people mistake me for being a potential suitor of the Prince? I’ve seen enough of those court dramas to know that I definitely do not want any of that for myself.
He nodded at me, “Please do whatever you are more comfortable with, Lady Aster.”
Good. Seems like he also settled on using my title as well so there should not be any misunderstandings about this.
He continued, “So… Umm… Lady Aster? How long are you staying in this city?”
“Oh, we weren’t planning to stay here for long at all. In fact, I am considering leaving tomorrow.”
He seemed quite surprised by this, “That… That’s too fast, don’t you think? You’ve yet to actually experience what this city has to offer! Why not stay a few more days?”
“Well… I’m actually on my way to Aerialla Academy and this place was just my stopover on my way there. So we’ve already stayed longer than we expected to.”
“Oh… You’re attending Aerialla Academy?”
“Yes. And before you ask, I’m taking the scenic route because I’m also taking this opportunity to explore this part of the World before I get confined in the Academy for the next few years.”
He perked up, “Oh! So you’re touring this city then? A few days isn’t enough for you to explore what this city has to offer though! How about staying a little longer? There’s so many things to see here!”
For someone who didn’t even want to participate in this tea party that the Queen had organised, he seemed to be really enthusiastic about showing off his country?
Actually… What was he even busy with to begin with that he would rather be doing something else?
I decided to be polite, “I will keep that in mind, Prince Hisami. But I will have to check with the rest of my party first.”
Right then, the Queen chose to speak up, “Did you encounter any problems after what happened yesterday, Lady Aster?”
Despite her asking that, her eyes never left the tea that she was preparing in front of her, where she seemed to be whisking something in another bowl which she was preparing to put in the teapot.
I tilted my head at her, “Umm… I’m not sure what you are referring to, your Majesty?”
“Oh, please extend what you are doing for Hisami to me as well, Lady Aster. Just Asami will do~ For your question though, I was referring to whether you had any injuries that might have come from your spar with my husband?”
“Ah, there’s no problem, Queen Asami. I apologise for the embarrassing display yesterday?”
“Fufu~ As my husband said, you really are modest, Lady Aster. You managed to make my husband fight you seriously so how can you say that it was embarrassing? It truly was a sight to behold.”
“E… Eh?” A voice squeaked out from the other side of the table.
I turned to see Prince Hisami staring at me with wide eyes, clearly shocked by something.
“You… You sparred with Father? And you got him to fight you seriously?”
I grimaced, “I’m not even sure if he was serious though? But I did lose to him anyway… Is something wrong?”
He suddenly leaned forward and his eyes sparkled, “Please Lady Aster! Grant me the honour of a spar with you!!”
