What Do You Mean I Have To Comprehend Dao As A Mortal God?
Chapter 278: We’re Receiving Guests Now
I went ahead to check some of the past scenarios where we might have come into contact with survivors in the rifts.
This was already pretty rare to begin with but from the instances that I could find recorded, it seems like more often than not, the first contact with people from other worlds are quite hostile.
Partly because after years of fighting Anomalies, the people from other worlds would treat us like one of the Anomalies instead of people who have crossed over and were offering a potential way out of their situation.
About nine times out of ten would result in us coming into conflict with the people from other worlds.
It seems like this was something that most of the public didn’t know about. Apparently they believe if the public knew about this, there would be people who would insist to try and save those people no matter the cost and then end up putting everyone else in danger instead.
Well... I know of people like that so I’m not too surprised by this decision.
Thankfully, I’m not one of those people since I can at least understand how reality works.
Conversely, it seems like if the people from other worlds were to discover a way to open portals or seek out those portals to cross over to our world on their own and make the first step to contact us instead... Then nine times out of ten it would be a case of them being able to safely integrate themselves into our World instead of the other way around.
It is quite curious to see such a statistic.
I guess in a way, we were pretty lucky with the Bunarfs, though I would attribute it to the fact that they have found a way to continue their own way of life without coming into constant conflict with the Anomalies which made them more receptive to us.
So with all that said... Yes, I’m actually pretty weird for trying so hard to see if we could save these survivors.
If it was any other Mortal God... The moment these people tried to attack them would be enough to sentence everyone in that group to death. In fact, it would even be enough to mark every single survivor of that world with a kill on sight order.
If I hadn’t restrained myself and showed mercy to them, Olivia would have done exactly that.
No... Not only Olivia, all of my Guardians would have just gone ahead to slaughter them all because of that attempted attack on me.
Even now, I am still not used to the fact that the value of my existence triumphs over everyone else’s to the point that no one will see anything wrong with killing an entire other worlder’s population just to preserve my existence.
If I had died there, I would have transformed into an Anomaly that could potentially wipe out the entire world if the other Mortal Gods were unable to stop whatever I mutated into.
As much as I try to remind myself that I am not who I used to be, I still can’t fight the idea that I was now more important than everyone else around me. It felt too... Narcissistic for me to accept...
Oh well... I’m not sure if I’ll ever get used to it because the idea is still quite scary to me but I’ll at least try my best not to be a pushover I guess...
After all... I think I responded well to the attempted murder in that world to begin with so there shouldn’t be any complaints.
Anyway, now that I’ve involved the two Mortal Goddesses in this rift, I’ll just need to wait for them to arrive before we decide on what to--
My phone rang while I was relaxing in my study room, prompting me to look down to see it was Olivia calling me.
I picked it up and set the call on speaker, "Yes?"
"My Lord. The two Mortal Goddesses will be arriving at the airport soon. Shall we make arrangements for them to stay here or should they just stay in the mainland?"
I blinked at the phone, "Wait... They’re already coming? I thought they would only come here in a day or two?"
I mean... I know they said they would be packing and getting ready to come here in a few hours when I last called them earlier... But I assumed they were just exaggerating since who would just pack things up and fly over immediately on the day itself?
Then I remembered they basically have their own private transportation set aside for them. If they wanted to go somewhere, all they had to do was say the word and everything would be arranged.
I sighed, "I guess we might as well just house them here... I have a feeling they would make a lot of noise if we were to tell them not to stay here..."
Since Olivia had also participated in our group sessions, she knew exactly how demanding those two Mortal Goddesses could be so she did not protest.
"Understood, my Lord. I shall arrange for transportation to guide them here."
"Hmmm? Can’t I just go meet them and teleport them here instead? That would be easier, right?"
"My Lord... You are not their subordinate. They are guests coming to visit you on your home turf. Please do not lower yourself to such a position."
Ugh... Politics again...
"Fine... I’ll leave the arrangements to you then."
"Of course, my Lord."
The call ended with a soft click and I leaned back in my chair, letting out a soft sigh.
I opened the messaging app to check the group chats that was made for each pair of Guardians that have been sent overseas to deal with the rifts.
So far, it seems like everything was going smoothly and they were all reporting back positively, assuring me that there was no problem that I would need to deal with personally.
Thankfully, it also looks like there were no infightings with the pairings and they were all able to work well together.
At least they weren’t trying to kill each other like what the two Mortal Goddesses suggested might happen between Guardians...
I think I’m quite fortunate to be able to get my current group of Guardians at least.
While I was reminiscing on that, the face of my sister popped out from behind the doorframe, her eyes narrowing at me.
"Waaaah... Why you smiling like that to yourself, Gor Gor? Creepy sia."
I rolled my eyes at her, "You’re really treating this like your own home huh?"
She grinned and skipped into my study, "Aiyah! You got such a big house anyway! What is my Got Gor’s is also mine, right?"
"And you’re going to say that what is yours is still yours, right?"
"Of course! My Gor Gor will always be my Gor Gor! Heh heh~"
I went ahead to give her a forehead flick as usual, making her let out a yelp of pain before she started rolling on the ground while clutching her head.
I watched her for a moment before letting out a sigh, "I assume you heard the conversation I had with Olivia just now?"
She finally stopped rolling around to look up at me, "Ehhhh... About some other people coming here is it?"
"Those people are other Mortal Gods... And most likely, they will also be staying here as well."
She pouted at me, "Walao... Don’t tell me you gonna chase me out for some strangers, Gor Gor..."
"I’m not. But I need you to be better behaved while they are here. If you can’t promise me that you will at least behave in the next few days, then I’m sending you back to our parents."
"Ehhhh... You say like I’m not better behaved like that! I very nice what?!"
"Sure you are... I’m serious, ok? These are other Mortal Gods, they are more... Shall we say... Strict about their positions than I am. I’m still new so I am more casual about it but you know what other Mortal Gods are like."
"Wah... Like that then why you even let them come here sia? Just tell them to stay outside lah."
I sighed at her, "They’re in the same position as I am. I may not be very familiar with all these etiquettes and stuff but even I know it’s most likely considered rude if I were to house them somewhere that was on par or worse than what my Guardians were receiving in quality."
She clucked her tongue, "So troublesome... Don’t worry lah! I will be on my best behaviour! You’re the only one I disturb, Gor Gor! I’ll only let them know that you touch yourself every other night!"
"You’re asking for another spanking..."
"Noooo~ My Gor Gor want to bully meeee~" She giggled, not waiting for a response from me before she scurried away.
Seriously... What did she even come in here for?
