Great... So this rift might have a Commander Class Anomaly somewhere around that we will have to deal with...

This made this rift a little more dangerous than its reported Danger Class... We would have to include that in the report or some unprepared Vanguards might lose their lives.

Olivia turned to give me a serious look, "Do we continue, my Lord?"

I nodded, "Might as well... And since it might be more dangerous... I suppose I shouldn’t hold back either..."

I let out a breath and released the purple smoke around me, enhancing the abilities and strength of my Guardians while I also used a combination of Siti’s and Liliac’s powers to push the grass away from us, giving us more space to move.

As we continued forward, the grass would part for us, as though there was an invisible barrier around us that was pushing the blades of grass aside.

We still kept a lookout in case the rustling returned and we had to deal with more of those wolf monkey hybrids but... They seemed to have either given up or were not avoiding us.

Again, the fact that they could make that decision was certainly a bad sign for us.

The path continued onwards until the path abruptly ended at what looked like the broken remains of a gate.

It was the kind of waist high gate that would swivel on a hinge to allow people to pass through, but was now crushed and broken into two pieces and left on the floor.

The walls that would have extended to the sides were also broken into pieces and would have been completely hidden by the tall grass if my ability wasn’t pushing the grass aside to reveal the pieces of wood laying on the ground.

I’m guessing we were now standing at the edge of the estate grounds.

Behind the gate, there seemed to have been a path once but it was now overgrown with the tall grass claiming the road, completely obstructing us from continuing forward.

Well... Obstructing us from continuing on foot that is.

"Maylene. I’ll have to depend on you to guide me, is that alright?" I asked, letting myself float a little above the ground.

She nodded, pulling out the map to clutch it in her hands, "Leave it to me, Qing!"

I reached my hand out to her, intending to carry her in a princess carry to lift her up into the sky with me but she seemed to have other plans.

She grabbed onto my arm and used it as leverage to pull herself up and climb up my side until she was riding on top of my shoulders, her thighs clamping around the sides of my face.

...

Let’s not... Think about how soft her thighs are... Holy shit her thighs are so soft...

"Let’s go, Qing! It should be straight ahead so we should be able to see it if we fly straight!" She called out cheerfully.

I was infinitely grateful for the mask hiding my face as I rose up into the air, ignoring that smirk Dan was giving me as I did so.

With Maylene guiding me, I flew in the direction of where the main building of the estate was supposed to be, finding the entire place overgrown with the tall grass.

Even at this height, I still couldn’t see any visible landmarks that could show that this place used to be some kind of estate or a farm which I suspect was what this place was supposed to be.

We only had to fly for a minute or so before Maylene let out a cry from above me, the grip on her thighs intensifying for a moment and squishing my cheeks in excitement.

"There! Right over there, Qing!"

I had to look up to see where she was pointing at, but she chose that moment to lean forward and two massive, heavy balloons slid over to cover my eyes and completely blocked my sight.

She didn’t seem to notice and bounced on my shoulders while still pointing at something I couldn’t see, "Over there! Down below!"

I managed to shift my face away from her boobs to look down, finally seeing her finger pointing at a very small clearing within the tall grass.

If I didn’t have her with me, I would have probably just overlooked that completely.

I changed the direction of my gravity and let myself fall towards the ground slowly, aiming for the small clearing that Maylene had pointed out.

I then realised that the clearing itself was not where the main estate building was located, but rather just what appeared to be the front courtyard of the main house.

The building itself had also been overgrown with plants and while it could easily be spotted when standing in front of it as it was taller than the grass around it, it perfectly blended with the surrounding plants when seen from above.

Even though I landed on the ground, Maylene made no move to get off my shoulders and... I’m going to be honest, I’m definitely not complaining about that.

I took a moment to look around the place, checking for any signs of life but the only thing that greeted me was the hollow whistling of the wind blowing through the empty estate.

I summoned my teleportation door and watched as it opened for Olivia, Dan and Liliac to step through, the three of them making no comments about the fact that Maylene was still riding on top of my shoulders in favour of checking the area around us.

"This is the place?" Olivia asked, looking up at the decrepit building.

Dan huffed at it, "No offense but... I think there aren’t any survivors."

"Let’s just take a look around. They might only be using this place as a meetup point or maybe they’re not hiding in the main building itself."

My Guardians nodded and we split up to search the area, Maylene following me along by continuing to ride my shoulders.

I went directly to the main building itself while the other three searched around the outside to look for any signs that there might be survivors here.

The building was made of wood that had rotted in places and was only held up by the plants that had grown around it to act as support for the building itself.

The door to the building seemed to have been busted open and there were several walls that had also collapsed inwards which suggested something or someone had smashed its way into the house through said wall.

The floorboards creaked as I stepped over the broken door to enter the building itself, the damp, stale air of a building undisturbed for a long time filling my nose.

I found it interesting that despite the state of the building being this worn down, the interior was still mostly intact and the roof was still mostly whole.

The house seemed to have two floors and looked like it could hold a large family of eight easily back in its prime.

I decided to take a risk and call out to the house, "Hello?"

Maylene leaned on my head, pressing her boobs against the top of my head as she called out as well, "Hello!"

Our calls were greeted by the soft howling of the wind blowing through the holes in the wall.

Unperturbed, I moved deeper into the house to search the rooms, finding quite a lot of similarities between this building and the ones from our world.

There was even a picture frame hanging on the wall which I believed held a picture of the family but the picture had been ripped into pieces with only a small piece remaining on the frame that I could barely make anything out of.

That was a pity since it might tell us whether the people in this world looked human or not.

Searching through the upper floors yielded the same results as the place was completely empty and devoid of life.

Heck, we didn’t even find anything like a radio that could be broadcasting the message we heard earlier.

Right as I was about to decide that this was a miss, Dan called out from outside.

"Hey! Bro! You might want to see this!"

I descended back to the ground floor and headed outside to see him beckoning at me to follow him.

I followed after him to see Olivia and Liliac standing beside what appeared to be some kind of antenna jutting out from the ground, its top barely reaching above the tall grass.

Right below the tower was what appeared to be some kind of radio that had the same design as the other ham radio we found.

I could hear a soft humming sound coming from the machine and what sounded like whispers of the message we heard from the other radio, only to realise that it sounded so soft because there was a set of headphones attached to it and the sound was being transmitted through that instead.

Just as I was about to ask what else they found, Liliac pointed to what looked like a trapdoor in the ground beside the radio, the door itself camouflaged with leaves laid on top of it.

Oh? Are there actually survivors after all?
