Chapter 250: Getting Used To Clones

One of the limitations I’ve found pretty early from the cloning skill was that I seem to be limited to one clone for now. Even if I try to summon another one, the older clone will just disappear as soon as the new one appeared.

I guess my limit will be raised once I get more used to this power

The second limitation was also a little bit problematic... The limitation that... All my clones I summon are naked...

I tried to summon one to put on clothes, which was really just my sister helping dress me up since I wasn’t that accustomed to controlling multiple bodies yet... And she seemed oddly enthusiastic about...

But when I tried to unsummon them after my clone was dressed, the clone disappeared but the clothes remained, dropping in a pile on the floor where the clone had been.

I confirmed with my sister that this wasn’t supposed to happen and the clothes should actually disappear with the clone instead of being left behind, so I assume this was happening because my control over this power was still not as good as my sister’s yet so this was the inferior version.

That means unless I intend to embarrass myself... I can’t really use this skill practically yet.

Besides... I still have trouble controlling multiple bodies at once and my sister simply told me that there was really no trick to it aside from just continuously practicing it and getting used to it.

I’ve already managed to control multiple arms so I guess it’s just a matter of being able to control the rest of the body.

I would say the hardest part was actually coming to terms with the fact that I would have different perspectives which could make things quite confusing since I have to remember which perspective is for which body.

My sister definitely found me trying to get used to her powers very entertaining and spent quite a lot of time just watching me stumbling around with it.

She even made sure to stick a clone with me at all times just to watch me while sending the others to do her work for her.

I wasn’t complaining since she did try to help me in getting better control over the clone, even if she seemed oddly enthusiastic about it.

I chose not to comment on the fact that she kept trying to dress my clone up every time I summoned it, like she was taking the opportunity to just put me in different clothes or something.

I guess it was better than just having a naked me walk around the entire time so I didn’t try to stop her.

Still... I have a newfound respect for her after I figured out how difficult it was to control them. She has made it look so easy and even though she brushes it off like it’s no big deal... It certainly was a really big deal.

This is the person who is able to have a clone study for her exams while still watching the television and eating chips and yet still somehow being able to absorb whatever that she was studying and enjoying the television too.

"How do you even control so many of them at once?" I asked, feeling a little frustrated as I failed to make my clone walk independently of me for the twentieth time.

She shrugged, "I just got used to it. It felt weird at first lah, but then I learned that I could split my consciousness into separate parts to control each of them. Then I learned how to do it multiple times and then that’s how can control a whole bunch of them~"

I don’t even know whether I can even do that... She’s speaking as if splitting your consciousness is some basic skill that everyone would learn how to do in their spare time or something...

I already found it impressive that I could control my floating arms on my own and here you have someone showing me they could control multiple bodies easily...

My little sister really is a genius.

She clung onto my back again, "Don’t worry, Gor~ Just need to practice! My Gor Gor is the best so you can do it!"

Somehow I feel like she managed to read what was in my mind... Wouldn’t even be the first time though.

"How long did it even take for you to get your clone to work independently from you?" I asked.

She hummed as she thought about my questions, "Mmm... I think it took me about three days ah? Eh wait... Work independently? That’s a week."

"How long before you could get your clone to just walk around without you bumping into stuff and falling over like a headless chicken?"

"Ehehehe~ I think that one I manage to do in like an hour or so~" She answered casually.

Great... I’ve already been trying to do this for at least half a day and I’m still watching my clone bumble around like a headless chicken...

She giggled, "Ehehe~ I think Gor Gor’s clone isn’t like a headless chicken~ More like a drunk chicken~"

I rolled my eyes, "Yeah thanks... That helps a lot."

She then gestured to my floating hands, "But you can control these right? You also control them normally so you can just use that control on your clones too~"

"Easier said than done... I got used to controlling their arms but the rest of the body is something else entirely... And the fact that I am also seeing things from two different perspectives is something I’m not used to doing either. How the heck can you get used to that?"

"Aiyah, you can just imagine like you are watching a security camera lah. Like you know the ones with a lot of screens? Easy."

I don’t think that’s something easy anyway but... I guess I can try...

I tried to imagine myself looking like an outsider staring at a bunch of security monitors instead of being personally looking through them.

It felt like my vision was pulled back and I was now looking at two screens in front of me with the clone’s perspective as an additional monitor to the side of my main one.

It still felt weird but I realised that I could kind of shift my ’focus’ onto the clone’s perspective while treating my own perspective as just another screen at the edge of my vision.

With that, I shifted my focus entirely on the clone, making it my ’main’ body as I focused on the sensation of that clone’s body.

I managed to identify the sensations tied to his arms, legs and body and slowly settled myself in that new sensation before taking a step forward.

Out of the corner of my focus, I could see my original body looking at my clone taking a confident step forward.

I managed to take a step forward and hold myself there, not falling over or tripping over myself like what I had been doing for the past few hours.

"Squeeeee!! You did it, Gor Gor!!" Hui Zhen squealed, hugging my original body from behind. "I knew you could do it! That’s my Gor Gor for you!"

"I only just took a single step forward... I don’t think it’s that big of a deal."

"Aiyah! You know what they say lah! One small step for Gor Gor, a giant leap for everything else!"

I’m pretty sure she butchered the saying to the point that it made no sense but I’ll just not comment on it.

Putting that aside, I guess this was one way to control the clones but this meant that I would only be able to control them one by one since I’m shifting my focus to another body and leaving my other body on its own.

Definitely not ideal but I guess that’s the first step for now... I just need to get used to it and then slowly learn how to control multiple bodies at the same time.

I tried to get my clone to move again, getting used to moving with my clone body to make it feel more natural that I am controlling something else that wasn’t my real body so that it becomes second nature.

My sister seemed to approve of that as she giggled behind me, "Ohhh~ You’re trying to get used to controlling the extra body first eh? Then you can control both bodies more easily! That’s also what I did! As expected of my Gor Gor!"

Well... Since I got her approval for this, I guess that means I’m on the right track at the very least so I concentrated on doing that.

Hopefully once I get used to controlling the clone, I can shift my focus back to my original body and get accustomed to controlling both my original body and the clone at the same time.

Then after that... I guess I also need to learn to be able to learn things through my clones as well.
