Chapter 248: She’s Offering Her Powers Too

A few days passed uneventfully until Olivia requested a meeting with me.

"My Lord, we would need your approval for sending the current batch of Guardians to these locations," Olivia requested, sliding a folder over to me.

I picked it up and opened it, scanning through its contents.

On it were the list of requests from the nearby countries for help with their rifts.

There were three from Thailand, two from Australia, one from Malaysia, one from Indonesia, one from Brunei and one from Vietnam.

I raised an eyebrow, "Why does Malaysia and Indonesia need our help? Don’t they have their own Mortal Gods?"

"It’s what was agreed during the summit, my Lord. We have agreed that each of the three countries that have Mortal Gods will at least offer a set number of rifts each month for the other Mortal Gods to handle instead of monopolising all of them for themselves."

Ah... I guess it was during one of the parts where I was otherwise distracted... I’m glad I have someone like Olivia to help me remember these things...

"I see... Do we have rifts that have not been cleared within our borders?" I asked.

Olivia shook her head, "Right now there are none, but we would have to leave the next two that open for the other two Mortal Gods to deal with. Fortunately, the agreement was only for securing the Gatekeeper and not to actually close them, so we can still work on mining them after the Gatekeeper has been secured."

I’m pretty sure the other two countries also agreed to these terms because they intend to do that as well.

If you think about it... It might actually be more in their favour since they are a bigger country which means there was more chances of rifts appearing within their borders while we had a lower chance.

I pointed this out to Olivia and it seems like that has been accounted for as well.

"For now, rifts have been appearing within our borders at a rate of around once every half a year, so the agreement was that we would offer up one rift every three years and it’s up to the Mortal Gods of those countries to accept or not."

I hummed, "I see... So they leave it up to Siti and Diana whether they want to deal with it or not?"

Olivia nodded, "They figured that given your apparent good relations with them, this would be the best choice since the three of you could coordinate together."

I read between the lines and understood that this was probably done because all three sides did not know of our current dynamic and did not want to step on anyone’s toes so they just left it up to us to deal with instead.

That’s a good deal for us so I have no complaints about it, especially since it cuts out the political side of this when I could just call up Diana or Siti and tell them whether I want them to take the rift or not.

They’ll probably ask for some kind of payment in return for that but... I have a good feeling I know what exactly they would ask for and I probably could provide what they want easily enough.

I leaned back in my chair and tapped the folder Olivia gave me on the table, "So... I assume it’s up to me to decide which rift we’re going to be taking?"

Olivia nodded, "Yes, my Lord. All information about the rifts are also in the folder. If you need more information, I would be happy to give it."

"Hmm... I suppose we should at least help Thailand since they are clearly favouring us because of what we did so we should send a group there. For Malaysia and Indonesia, we can hold off on that for now since it’s clear they are just offering it out of the agreement they made and not because they are in desperate need of them being cleared... Australia’s also probably offering us one because of how they screwed up the summit as well so they’re being careful about how they behave in front of the Mortal Gods right now so we can just ignore them for now.... I think Brunei should get one too given their ties with us and I suppose that’s all we can send right now?"

Olivia shook her head, "We have three teams to send out, my Lord. Although one of them would have to stay behind, you should just pick one more in case one returns early so that we can send the third team out in rotation."

"Hmm... I see... In that case, let’s just go with Thailand, Brunei and Australia. If we need additional choices, then we can take either Malaysia’s or Indonesia’s. Do you also need me to pick the teams?"

"Would you like to, my Lord?"

"If you already have an idea of who to send then there’s no need. I’ll leave the details to you instead."

"Of course, my Lord."

She gave a deep bow before leaving my study room.

I watched her leave and was just about to relax when a head poked out from the side of the doorway.

"Ehhhhh~ So cool sia, Gor Gor~" My sister grinned, strolling into my study room like she owned the place.

I raised an eyebrow at her, "What are you talking about?"

"You like big boss now sia. She your secretary ah?" She asked, jerking her thumb in the direction of where Olivia had disappeared to.

I rolled my eyes, "Something like that. What are you doing here? Shouldn’t you be at work right now?"

She skipped over to me, "Aiyah~ You forget I can get other copies to work for me is it? I just sent one of me up here lah~ Anyway, I going back home tomorrow liao so I want spend more time here!"

I huffed at her, "Right... You just want me to teleport you back home so you can save on the bus fare, don’t you?"

"Ehehehe~ Since got you, of course I must use you as much as I can mah!"

This sister of mine is really shameless huh...

She then sat down sideways on my lap, letting her legs drape over the armrest of my chair while using me as a backrest.

I looked down at her, "Oi... You heavy leh."

She puffed up her cheeks at me, "You calling me fat ah?"

"Yeah, you a bit fat now."

She swatted my chest while pouting up at me.

I chuckled and idly patted her head, "Ok, ok... Tell me what you’re thinking about."

She might try to hide it, but I knew that she was thinking about something serious and just trying to hide it behind an air of nonchalance while she was trying to decide whether or not to talk to me about it.

Seeing that she was already exposed, she let out a sigh and turned to me, "I heard from the other Guardians ah... They say you can get other people’s abilities ah?"

I narrowed my eyes at her, "Who told you that?"

"That other chinese girl lah. The one who tried to take me go drink coffee one..."

"Jia Lian?"

"Ah, yah, her lor. I think she like you sia. She got try to seduce you or not?"

I rolled my eyes at her, trying my best not to give anything away while I scoffed like she had just said something ridiculous.

"She’s my Guardian and basically my coworker."

"So? Here got rule say you cannot sleep with your colleagues meh?"

I flicked her on the forehead, "You talk stupid shit some more I’m going to tell mother. Now stop stalling... What do you really want to ask me?"

She yelped at the forehead flick and pouted at me before she finally let out a sigh, "How do you get someone else’s powers?"

There was a pause before I understood why she was asking this question as I turned to look at her, "You’re not actually thinking of..."

She shrugged, "If... If it can help you... Why not? I think... I think you can use this power better than me anyway... So... Just take it from me, Gor Gor... I... I can figure things out on my own..."

Eh?

The way she said it sounds a little bit strange...

"What are you talking about?" I asked.

She sucked in a breath and steeled herself before giving me a serious look, "I... I said you can have my powers, Gor Gor... I am giving them to you..."

I blinked before shaking my head, "What do you think I need to do to get your powers?"

She stared at me for a good few seconds, "Umm... You... Take them away from me? So... I wouldn’t have my powers anymore?"

"And you’re willing to give that up?"

"You need it more than me... I... I don’t mind giving it to you, Gor Gor..."

Ok... I never actually thought she had thought that highly of me but...

Tsk... I’m going to make sure that the refrigerator in the kitchen here is always stocked with her favourite puddings from now on.
