What Do You Mean I Have To Comprehend Dao As A Mortal God?
Chapter 243: Ambrosia Flower?
Liliac woke up slowly, having rested on my lap as I sat on the forest floor.
"Good morning, sleep well?" I teased her, finding the entire situation amusing.
She blinked a few times, needing a moment before she finally recognised where she was and sat herself upright, almost knocking into me when she did so.
"Mo... Mortal God!! I... I apologise!! That was... That was terribly rude of me!!"
I wanted to point out this wasn’t even the first time that happened but I figured that if I actually said that, she might actually get even more flustered and guilty so I held my tongue.
She quickly moved away from me like I was something too dangerous to touch or something, which I actually found a little amusing to see.
"Please forgive me, Divine One!" She cried out with a little more panic than necessary.
I chuckled, "It’s alright, Liliac. I told you before you don’t need to act like that in front of me, you know? I’m not going to eat you."
"I... Forgive me... I’m still trying... To get used to this."
"It’s alright, take your time. In the meantime... Why don’t you tell me about the flower that we just grew?" I asked, trying to distract her with the change in topic.
That seemed to work as she perked up and turned towards the giant flower that was still sprouting out from the ground to the side of where we were.
"Ah! The Ametila Rock Flower! It’s a plant back from my world that is incredibly rare to obtain!"
She stood back up on her feet and her face had changed into one of marvel as she beheld the flower.
"It was a very peculiar flower that would bond with stone and grow on it like it would a plant in soil. However, it would grow out a bud but won’t flower unless the stone goes through some type of stress."
I raised an eyebrow, "A rock? Stress?"
She nodded, "Something like an avalanche or similar where the rock undergoes a very drastic change. There have been attempts to cultivate it within controlled conditions like hitting the rock but while it does make the flower bloom, they don’t usually grow very big and wither after a short time. Naturally bloomed ones usually grow really big and could last for centuries undisturbed."
"Right... But what’s the point of these flowers though? Do they have something special about them aside from the fact that they have those growing conditions?"
"Oh yes! The flower! Here!"
She quickly moved towards the flower itself, only to stop under it as the tree sized flower was obviously too tall for her to reach.
I figured that she wanted to go to the petals of the flower so I offered my hand to her again.
She jumped slightly from the appearance of my hand but she understood and slowly slipped her hand into mine, allowing me to change the direction of gravity on us to float us up gently.
She managed to return back to her excited self when we reached the top of the flower and she pulled out what looked like a mason jar from underneath her cloak.
"There! Please get us closer to the stamen!"
I did as she asked and she reached out to grab one of said stamens that were poking out from the centre of the flower, her hands barely able to close around the circumference of the filament that was right below the anther.
She then gave it a jerking motion, running her hands up and down the filament just like how one would... Jerk off something else.
I watched as the dark elf moved the mason jar below the anther and a golden drop of liquid oozed out from the top to cascade down towards us.
Even though I said a drop, that drop was big enough to fill an entire bathtub by itself and I had to pull her back to avoid getting drenched in it.
Still, she didn’t hesitate to reach out her hand to let some of it spill into the mason jar she was holding, the entire container filling up to the brim as the drop fell into the flower.
I thought the anthers were where the pollen would be? What the heck is that?
She looked down at the rest of the spilled golden liquid that splattered against the flower petal and was now rolling down the side.
"Oh my... I’ve never seen one drop that much before. That was entirely unexpected..."
"What is that?" I asked, pointing at the mason jar in her hand.
She beamed at me and offered the jar to me, "Try it!"
To demonstrate what she meant, she dipped her finger in the liquid and brought it to her mouth where she licked it off.
She shuddered visibly when she tasted it, taking a whole half a minute where she was completely absorbed in the taste of the golden liquid before she finally recovered and offered the jar to me again.
Trusting her, I dipped my own finger in as well and brought it up to my lips, giving the liquid a whiff to realise it smelt sweet, like honey.
I then stuck out my tongue and tasted it as well and jolted at the taste.
It was not exactly honey but it certainly was sweet and it even filled me with energy like what you might get from a caffeine hit.
I couldn’t help but feel a shiver travel down my spine, "What is that?"
She smiled at me like she was sharing a secret, "In our world... We call it the ’Food of the Gods’."
"Ambrosia?" I muttered after hearing that.
Her smile widened, "That’s what your world calls it? That sounds nice. The ones that are grown in the wild would taste absolutely divine... And this..."
She paused to gesture at the jar that she was holding, "This is the best one that I have ever tasted... And I believe it is all thanks to... You..."
Liliac’s face suddenly sobered up again, probably once again remembering just who it was that was floating right in front of her.
She almost pulled away until she realised that I was the only one holding both of us up in the air right now and there was nowhere she could escape to.
I chuckled and decided to offer her a way out, "Should we also collect the liquid that dripped onto the petal? Feels like a waste if we were to just leave it there."
She quickly nodded, thankful for the distraction, "Ye... Yes please, Mortal God... It’s a rare delicacy and I could even make dried biscuits out of them so you can eat them as snacks too. It’s really, really good. But... Umm... I’m not sure how to get it from there..."
"Do you have enough containers?"
"Umm... I’m not sure..." She muttered, before pulling out even more mason jars which made me wonder why exactly she was carrying so many empty mason jars around.
I decided not to question it as I stretched out my hand towards the pool of golden liquid that had settled in the base of the flower and tried to channel Diana’s power of controlling liquids.
This should be considered a liquid, right? So I should be able to control it.
It took a while but I felt a pull coming from the liquid and I lifted my arm, willing it to rise up from the base of the petals and slowly floated up in the air.
It felt like I was holding a gelatinous cube of honey in my hand as the liquid wobbled itself into the air to hover in front of me, the entire blob definitely big enough to fill up an entire bath tub.
Yeah, I don’t think Liliac has enough mason jars for this.
I then suddenly got an idea as I used Maylene’s ability on the blob, watching it shrink down to half its original size instead.
Liliac did not hesitate and started filling up her mason jars with the golden liquid, covering each one she had filled with a cap before handing it over to me where I placed them in the palm of one of my floating hands.
Soon enough, fifteen of those jars were filled and the blob of liquid was collected.
She would have to move those to bigger containers, however, since the moment I return them to their original size, they would most definitely shatter their containers.
Hmm... I wonder what would happen if it remains shrunken in size and someone eats it? What would happen if I then return something small back to its original size when it’s in that person’s stomach? Would they explode? What if it’s digested? Can I still return it to its original size?
I guess that’s something to test out in the future... For now, I’m interested in trying out the ambrosia biscuits that Liliac had told me about~
