Chapter 509 - 281: Im...possi...ble
Roy saw him flash a smile he found utterly loathsome. His words came in fits and starts, like a radio with a bad signal:
"Do you want my heart that badly...? A pity... It will only ever beat for me."
Then, the Dragon Knight actually managed to pry his hand away... The strength startled Roy. He even suspected that it wasn’t this dying Dragon Knight before him bending his arm, but a Giant!
But the scene before him told him in no uncertain terms that it was none other than the dying Dragon Knight, Baron Constantin, who had forced his hand away.
What Roy found most humiliating was that he was actually losing a contest of strength!
This also meant that the Dragon Knight’s earlier retreat wasn’t out of fear for his strength, but...
Roy understood and fell into the same towering rage as Soron. "You tricked me!"
He surged with Spiritual Power. His form elongated like a distorted shadow on the ground, and his arm swelled to a monstrous size. A single claw jutting from one finger was as thick as an infant’s arm.
He kept his death grip on the Dragon Knight’s heart, refusing to let go.
Baron Constantin endured the agony of having his heart gripped. One of his hands also transformed into an incredibly powerful Dragon Claw, which he used to seize the hand crushing his heart. He stared into Roy’s eyes and said:
"Do you want to kill me that badly?"
As he spoke, his other hand materialized a Dragon Spear that ran through Roy’s chest.
Roy’s Scale Armor could withstand the sharpest Snow Pattern Steel, but it could not stop the Golden Dragon Spear’s devastating point.
A spray of blood erupted from Roy’s back like cherry blossoms. The Griffin Knights surged forward, but halted at Roy’s command. Instead, they cautiously drew their blades, watching the Dragon Attendant and the Dragon Devourer Cultists to prevent them from flying into a frenzy at the scent of blood.
Roy gritted his teeth against the excruciating pain. "I’ve already been to Hell for you once. Now it’s your turn!"
He added, "I’ve changed my mind. To hell with the Dragon Knight’s heart. A despicable bastard like you can just go straight to Hell!"
A vicious glint filled his eyes, and he violently crushed the Baron’s heart.
The Baron, who had also begun the process of Contractual Assimilation, froze. His body instantly went limp, like a wind-up toy running down.
Before he died, the Dragon Knight gave him one last look. His Golden Eyes were still blazing, like an eternal flame in a thousand-year-old tomb.
Roy couldn’t tell what lay hidden in those flames. ’Resentment? Fear? Loathing? Spite?’ But he no longer cared.
He released his grip on the Dragon Knight’s neck and watched him fall like a snapped banner pole. His crimson blood spread across the ground like an unfurling flag.
The Dragon Attendants and Cultists, drawn by the scent of blood, tried to press forward, but Roy drove them back with a sharp rebuke.
Gritting his teeth, he pulled the Golden Dragon Spear from his chest. The moment it was free, he saw vines instantly coil around the shaft. It landed in his hand with impossible weight. The spear’s sheer force dragged Roy down, slamming him toward the ground. Even as a Pseudo-Silver, he could not resist its power.
He could only watch helplessly as the vine-entangled Dragon Spear embedded itself halfway into the earth, resembling a dead tree.
Roy tried to pull it free, but the Dragon Spear was as immovable as a mountain. The ancient seal seemed to have reactivated with the death of its chosen master.
He grew annoyed, an irritation that spurred him to a cold laugh. He muttered to the Dragon Spear, "The one you chose was still killed by me. And I, the one you’ve pierced twice, am still alive."
"Dragon Knight?" Roy said. "From now on, that class will vanish from the world, just like the Frost Giants."
He then turned to look at Kesha and Aile, who were being restrained by the Griffin Knights.
The pair hadn’t gotten far before the Griffin Knights caught them.
Kesha’s gaze lingered for a moment on Baron Constantin’s heartless corpse before she turned to Roy with a smile.
"Mister Roy, congratulations on killing the despicable Lawbreaker."
Aile, on the other hand, roared, "Roy Hestia, you’re a bastard worse than any whore! You’ve betrayed the Knight Law! Just you wait! The Holy Hall will pass its proper Judgement upon a degenerate like you! I swear on the name of the Silver Lion King Leos, I will take your life with my sword!"
"You’re so despicable that even the filthiest, most degenerate Bloodless would be disgusted! Even if I go to Hell, I’ll be waiting for you on the eighteenth level!"
Roy Hestia sneered. "Going to Hell is your problem. Killing you is mine."
Kesha grew frantic. "I didn’t see anything! All I know is that Baron Constantin killed everyone here..."
"Shut your mouth, you bitch!" Aile cut Kesha off. "Are all you people from the Demon Hunter Association such craven bastards?"
Kesha’s face went pale, but she shot back, "At least it’s better than being some little brat who dies for nothing."
The two began to argue, trading barbs, neither giving an inch.
Roy’s head began to throb. He ordered the Griffin Knights to kill them both.
At the same time, he had to go back and deal with Baron Constantin’s body—even without a heart, a Dragon Knight’s corpse was still a priceless specimen for the Dragon Eater Association.
But just as he turned, a massive explosion erupted before his eyes.
Searing white light and a deafening roar turned the ruins of the Dragon Family estate as bright as day. The shockwave sent even Roy stumbling backward, while the surrounding Griffin Knights were knocked unconscious by the immense force—Kesha and Aile included.
