Chapter 496 273: Absolute Violence (Part 2)
The Dragon Knight knocked the longsword from the Bronze Knight's hands and enveloped him in flames. In response, the Bronze Knight let out a [Lion's Roar], scattering some of the fire. The Dragon Attendants on the hillside were also affected, stunned for a moment. The Lion-eyed Knights seized this opportunity, plunging their swords one by one into the human heads of the Dragon Attendants—they had discovered that the Attendants' weakness was the human body attached to the dragon's.
"Witch... To think a descendant of the great Knight Clan of Constantine would choose to become a Lawbreaker colluding with the Dragon Witch!"
Then, as the flames were scattered by the [Lion's Roar], the Bronze Knight strode forward, the contractually assimilated lion claws on the back of his hand glinting menacingly.
The Dragon Knight snorted coldly. The flames surged, and a crushing Spiritual Pressure descended from the sky, shattering the ground. His orange-red Dragon Eyes glowed with a divine light that was impossible to look at directly. He swiftly brought his twin sabers down on the Bronze Knight.
Unexpectedly, the Bronze Knight let out another [Lion's Roar] nearly as loud as thunder. Two silver afterimages then split off from his body. One of the afterimages remained in place and unleashed a [Lion's Roar], while the other mimicked the Bronze Knight's forward cleaving motion.
[Promise: Group of Lions Illusion]
When a Lion-eyed Knight charges or moves at high speed, they leave behind two to three silver afterimages that last for several seconds. These afterimages will continue to perform one of the Lion-eyed Knight's actions.
But the Dragon Knight was prepared. In fact, aside from being caught off guard at the very beginning, he already had a way to deal with these illusions.
With just a flicker of his eyes, two Dragon Devourer Cultists who had transformed into Winged Dragons plummeted from the circling skies, perfectly intercepting the two afterimages' attacks.
One of his twin sabers blocked the Bronze Knight Commander's lion claws. He spun the other blade in a glowing, crimson arc, neatly avoiding the Knight Commander's Sharp Claws and slicing toward the major artery in his neck.
The Knight Commander wanted to dodge, but with his lion claws pinned by the long saber, he had no way to escape. He could only watch helplessly as the blade descended toward his neck.
Suddenly, a small yellow paperman blocked the tip of the Dragon Knight's saber. Although it was quickly burned to ash, it let out a hamster-like squeal before disintegrating.
However, this still bought the Knight Commander some time to retreat and for the others who were arriving.
A huge, serrated great-cleaver and a slender tachi crossed to block the descending blade. The Dragon Knight looked up to find two Battle Nuns, both with slender waists, long legs, and their own unique beauty.
He then sensed a murderous intent from the side. He subconsciously turned his head just as a short dagger grazed his cheek and flew past.
Before the short dagger could disappear into the darkness, it was caught by a delicate, slender hand.
Kesha, wielder of the short dagger, casually flicked her long hair over her shoulder and smiled at the Dragon Knight. "Mr. Gold, aren't you and your people going to make a move?"
The moment her words fell, the Dragon Knight's body tensed. He sensed another threat, this time from behind.
Without the slightest hesitation, the Dragon Knight abandoned his twin sabers, which were still locked with the two Battle Nuns' weapons. He swiftly twisted his body, letting the cold glint of a striking blade graze past his shoulder.
His hands then morphed into jagged Dragon Claws, and he was about to strike at the attacker when he found his body had gone completely stiff, uncontrollably turning in one direction.
There, the red-haired Faith Knight, Jiang Ge, called out to him in a clear voice, "Blessed are the humble."
[Eight Virtues of Humility]
When a Faith Knight uses this Authority, a Cross Branding appears on their breastplate. It forces the first attack of any enemy within a seven-meter radius to target them. Additionally, their second Secret Silver Heart activates, and any damage taken is absorbed by their Silver Blood.
Under the influence of [Humility], the Dragon Knight indeed moved uncontrollably toward the Faith Knight. But it wasn't over. A middle-aged man dressed as a Missionary tore a page from the Holy Scripture in his hand and threw it at him. The moment the paper landed at his feet, it transformed into silver chains that burst from the ground, binding him.
It still wasn't over. While bound by the chains, the Dragon Knight caught sight of the two Battle Nuns charging him with their blades raised. Without a second thought, he roared at the sky as his body erupted in flames.
More flocks of Winged Dragons dove down, circling protectively around the Dragon Knight as he tried to break free. The flames periodically collided with them, releasing puffs of black smoke that seemed to rise from the netherworld.
Saint Elvin watched this scene, took a cross from his coat, used it to light his cigarette with a spark from the Dragon Knight's flames, and then said:
"He won't last much longer. The scent of this fire isn't as pure as the one in the Dracul Mountain Range."
As soon as he said this, several thunderbolts streaked across the sky. Then, the heavens seemed to shatter and the earth to collapse; mountains shook and cliffs crumbled.
Two massive Dragon Attendants suddenly appeared in the square, crushing the entire flock of Winged Dragons to death. From their auras, it was easy to tell they were Third Generation Species, equivalent to top-tier Bronze-ranks. The Dragon Knight, holding his twin sabers, stood between the Dragon Attendants and declared, "I will kill all of you and turn you into Dragon Attendants."
Saint Elvin shrugged and said to the Faith Knight, Jiang Ge, "Actually, my first choice was the Dragon Tide."
...
In the auction hall lobby, the battle between the Attendant and the Griffin Knight, Jill, was still ongoing.
Although Jill appeared to be overwhelming the unremarkable Attendant, that was merely how it looked.
Aside from the one sword strike that had pierced the Attendant's arm a short while ago, Jill hadn't made any substantial progress in any of their subsequent exchanges.
Furthermore, judging by the speed of his sword swings, his Physical Ability and Spiritual Power were both being heavily consumed by the intensity of the fight.
The Attendant, in contrast, seemed to be retreating under Jill's fierce assault, but any Law Enforcer with a sharp eye could see the truth. From beginning to end, his sword hand remained steady, and his defensive posture never wavered. He was like a precision perpetual motion machine with infinite energy and an absolutely stable rhythm.
This was only natural.
Baron was currently not lacking in Spiritual Power. The promotion of his Blood Faction had caused his body to overflow with it, which was why he had chosen to use Bloodletting to reduce the concentration of Spiritual Power and suppress his own bloodthirsty impulses.
At the same time, the dual Law enhancements from his Dragon Knight Profession and his status as a Blood Demon Hunter had made his physical strength far exceed that of others at the same rank. Moreover, this Law-based enhancement wasn't a simple one-plus-one addition; it was an exponential amplification of his original physical form.
For example, an ordinary Old Race on the Inner Side with Spiritual Sense might only be able to run a hundred meters in eight or nine seconds and have a vertical jump of just two or three meters. But once they sign a Law and become a Law Enforcer, their vertical jump could instantly increase to six or seven meters, or even higher. As for the hundred-meter dash... in that situation, speed is actually the hardest to measure due to the unique characteristics of each profession.
Of course, the Wizard profession must first be excluded from this so-called enhancement. Due to the unique nature of their profession, the physical strengthening they receive after signing a Law primarily focuses on Mental Power. This allows them to more freely control Spiritual Power to use magic.
Therefore, it was foreseeable that in the near future, once Baron truly broke through to the Bronze Blood Faction, his physical strength would increase exponentially once more. In his view, at least, fighting a Third Generation Dragon Descendant in close combat would be no problem at all.
This was also why people like Aile and Jill could not match Baron in strength. Layered on top of that were the combat skills Baron had learned from the Shepherdess in his dreams—skills forged through countless deaths and trials. He himself did not even realize that he had become what could be called a perfect fighting machine.
The fight continued. Baron retreated, keeping track of the time, but the Griffin Knights surrounding them seemed to have anticipated this. They moved back in step with the fighters, always keeping him and Jill at the center of their circle.
This was true even as the circle itself gradually shifted from the magnificent, golden hall toward the window that had been broken earlier by Hamilton's attendant.
Everyone held their breath, watching the dazzling battle between the two—a duel that could only be described as a pure contest of skill.
