Chapter 333: Can You Like Me?
“Take care, everyone.”
“Thank you for your hospitality, Frost Prince.”
“You’re all too kind.”
At the entrance to the Frost Prince’s residence, after seeing off several women, Xiao Mo couldn’t help but rub the corners of his eyes.
These women were all wives and daughters of friends of the Flame Prince Qin Huo.
Because Xiao Mo was truly famous, quite a few women wanted to meet him. But since Xiao Mo didn’t attend any banquets, they had their husbands or fathers ask the Flame Prince for help.
The Flame Prince then came to find Xiao Mo.
The Flame Prince had given Xiao Mo quite a bit of guidance, and Xiao Mo felt that the Flame Prince was indeed a good person. They would likely have many interactions in the future, so Xiao Mo couldn’t refuse and could only meet with these madams and young ladies.
To be honest, in Xiao Mo’s view, dealing with these young ladies and madams was even more tiring than going into battle to kill enemies.
After seeing them off, Xiao Mo returned to his residence and continued reading a spear manual.
Not long ago, the Flame Prince had told Xiao Mo that his new appointment would come down soon, and this appointment would be quite extraordinary. He told Xiao Mo to be prepared.
Xiao Mo didn’t know what the Flame Prince meant by “extraordinary” but Xiao Mo felt that no matter what the appointment was, he would just do his best and just as Xiao Mo was earnestly reading the spear manual, Qin Siyao walked into the courtyard.
“Siyao, you’re here,” Xiao Mo raised his head, glanced at Qin Siyao, then lowered his head to continue reading.
Xiao Mo had long since become accustomed to Qin Siyao coming to his residence. He had even told the maids that Her Highness the Princess could enter and leave the Frost Prince’s residence freely without needing to announce herself.
Thus, to Qin Siyao, the Frost Prince’s residence was like her own home.
“Mm-hmm,” Qin Siyao responded, then sat beside Xiao Mo. Her tone somewhat nervous, she said, “I… I made some pastries. See if they’re good…”
“Thanks,” Xiao Mo nodded, picked up a mung bean cake and took a bite. “Pretty good.”
“If they’re good, then eat more,” Qin Siyao poured Xiao Mo a cup of water.
“Mm.”
Xiao Mo nodded and continued eating the pastries while reading the spear manual but as he ate, Xiao Mo noticed something wasn’t quite right.
He raised his head and looked at the girl beside him, asking with a smile, “Why do you keep staring at me?”
“I… I’m not staring at you,” Qin Siyao shook her head. “Besides, if you’re not looking at me, how do you know I’m looking at you?”
Xiao Mo: “…”
Ignoring Qin Siyao, Xiao Mo continued reading the spear manual in his hand.
Meanwhile, Qin Siyao continued to blink and watch him.
It was as if Qin Siyao could watch Xiao Mo for a lifetime and never grow tired of it.
“You really don’t have anything you want to say?” Xiao Mo raised his head again to ask.
“I… what would I have to say…” Qin Siyao said, drawing her legs together and placing her small hands on her thighs as she shook her head.
“Alright then…”
Xiao Mo didn’t ask further.
Setting down the spear manual, Xiao Mo felt suddenly inspired. He took out his long spear and began practicing his spear techniques, attempting to integrate everything he’d learned.
Qin Siyao continued to sit on the stone stool watching.
“Her Highness the Princess’s illness is called ‘falling in love.'”
“The only prescription is called ‘growing old together.'”
“Your Highness, you’ve fallen for Xiao Mo.”
Watching the man before her wielding his long spear, recalling what Sister Huasheng had said to her, Qin Siyao’s eyes held a hint of daze.
“Have I really fallen for him?”
“Is this what it feels like to like someone?”
“Have I truly fallen for Xiao Mo?”
Qin Siyao lowered her delicate head. Her small hand couldn’t help but press against her rapidly rising and falling chest. She felt her heartbeat growing faster and faster, and a lovely blush appeared on her cheeks.
“Siyao, are you sure you’re alright?”
After Xiao Mo finished practicing his spear techniques twice, he walked forward and looked at the girl before him.
Usually, Siyao was never this quiet.
“I… I’m really fine.”
Qin Siyao shook her head forcefully. However, after a while, Qin Siyao timidly raised her head. Her fair fingers hooked together as she asked Xiao Mo, “Xiao Mo, just now when I came over, I saw quite a few women at your residence. Who were they?”
“Oh, them. They’re wives and daughters of some of the Flame Prince’s friends. They’ve been wanting to meet me, so the Flame Prince came to find me. I couldn’t refuse to give him face,” Xiao Mo said truthfully. “Is this what you’ve been thinking about?”
“N-no, it’s not,” Qin Siyao turned her head away. “I was just thinking, what if you took a liking to some young lady and got enchanted by her? Then I wouldn’t be able to come find you to play anymore, would I?”
“Hehehe,” Xiao Mo chuckled. “At present, that won’t happen.”
Hearing Xiao Mo’s answer, Qin Siyao secretly glanced at him. “Why won’t it happen? You’re already of marriageable age. You should get married. So many people are proposing marriages to you. Is there really not a single woman you fancy?”
“Really, there isn’t…” Xiao Mo put away his long spear and sat down beside Qin Siyao, pouring himself a cup of tea.
“Are those women not good? I think they all look quite pretty,” Qin Siyao felt inexplicably happy inside.
“It’s not that they’re not good. I just feel they’re not quite suitable for me,” Xiao Mo said, shaking his head.
“Not suitable for you? Then what kind of woman do you like?” Qin Siyao asked curiously. But when asking this question, she felt an inexplicable nervousness in her heart.
“What kind, well…”
Xiao Mo thought for a moment and answered casually.
“First, she must be good to my mother and be sensible and well-educated.
Second, her personality should be cheerful. She shouldn’t bottle everything up inside, otherwise it would be quite tiring.
Third, she should be considerate. Preferably a woman I’m already familiar with, rather than someone chosen by parental arrangement through a matchmaker, and then we just get married.
Finally, she should also be pretty to look at.”
Sitting to the side, Qin Siyao listened carefully to Xiao Mo’s words, counting on her fingers one by one, remembering carefully.
“Then, Xiao Mo, what do you think of how I treat Auntie Zhou?” Qin Siyao raised her head to ask.
“Very good,” Xiao Mo smiled. “My mother said that over these years, you’ve often gone to see her and brought her lots of delicious things. My mother really likes you.”
The girl’s heart felt as if a sweet spring had flowed through it, carrying a faint joy. “Then, Xiao Mo, do you think my personality is cheerful? Am I sensible and well-educated?”
“Quite cheerful, and yes, sensible and well-educated,” Xiao Mo nodded.
“Then, Xiao Mo, do you think I’m considerate?” the girl continued asking.
“Considerate, I suppose. Back when your Big Brother and Second Brother gave me gifts, you were the one who got me out of that situation.”
“Then, Xiao Mo, are the two of us familiar with each other?”
“Of course. We’ve known each other since we were six years old.”
“Then, Xiao Mo, do you think I’m pretty?”
“Naturally you’re pretty. Even when I was fighting in the Wei Kingdom, I could hear about Siyao’s reputation.”
“Then, Xiao Mo…”
The girl raised her delicate head, blinking as she looked at the man beside her.
“Can you like me?”
