Chapter 713: Shadows

  • Next Chapter

The sound of the horses neighing, the sound of the wind brushing through the grass, the dust rises up from the ground and the sun above the sky showing its face clearly

The world seems to be filled with warmth but in that tent, it felt like it is the coldness of winter.

The men on the entrance of the large area of tent could only watch as they see the Khan and his men swaggered out from their area.

They did not even dare to show any disobedience or any anger.

Why?

Because outside the area of the tent, there is a five hundred horses give and take. Five hundred horsemen with armours, swords, spears, arrows and bows.

And leading them is Mayeux. Mayeux himself is now wearing full body armours and helmet. There is the banner of the Brolgadhr

There is five hundred horsemen of the Brolgadhr. The Khan saw Mayeux and only nodded and then with Mayeux the Khan returns back to the city

Ayera look at all of this

Ayera look at the dust her husband kicked off and her eyes narrows.

"Mayeux" she mutters.

She could guess what had happened. Aeryon wis not a coward. He would not stage this. She knew her husband to a degree.

He could stage many things for his enemies. But to her there is no need to stage so many things

Because the advantage always lies with him. This is his tribe. And the tens of thousands horses that follow his command, is his army

With an army, he is confident to anything.

So, he did not need to stage all of this. If so, there is only one explanation

Mayeux find out that the Khan, her husband came to meet him with only a few guards. So, he mobilize his own personal army to the vicinity of the Utgard camp

It was a warning.

Mayeux was never on her side. From the beginning, he is always and will always be the Khan men.

These two men shares something most people do not share. Their dreams

What their dreams is Ayera doesn’t know. But she knows this is the reason why Mayeux is so utterly loyal to Aeryon.

He would remove any obstacle from his path.

Whether that is something that the Khan wanted or not is probably irrelevant

She clenched her fist so tightly that her nails bit into her skin. Blood drips from her skin and she winces in pain but she takes a few deep breath, close her eyes for a second and then she let this anger passes her by

There is many things she wanted dot say but then she knew it is useless

She knew he is right. But being right doesn’t mean anything to her right now. Her heart is burning

Ayera then enter back her tent. Her heart is still burning and she felt her anger rising.

Her anger become uncontrollable since her fight with her husband. She knew it is not because of her.

But because of something called the Mahakala Seed.

She is trying to calm herself.

Then out of the shadows, Narakanatha appears.

One second he was not there. And the next, he appears there like he has always been there. This kind of method...not many people in the world could master such method

Narakanatha did not say anything. He simply looks at the head of this woman. And his eyes narrows

"the calamity aura has subsided" he did not say anything from beginning to end.

He witnessed it all. The fight between the husband and wife.

The killing intent between these two.

And the destiny and fortune of these two people

He did not even say that there is a calamity for her when he had seen it.

he might have been caught in this cause and effect but if he could, he did not want to get more entangled than necessary

And the calamity aura did not seem urgent.

So, he has been observing this Seed of Mahakala. If the calamity aura seems to worsen and reach critical moment, he would have to honour his promise and come out and save her.

And it is only after the Khan had left the tent and seeing this calamity aura disappearing that Narakanatha understand something

That calamity comes from the stubbornness of this woman.

That Khan is the calamity. The calamity would fall depending on his mood

Yes, she has become more moody and easily angered because she has awoken the Seed. But in the end, it depends on the person

Mind over matter. This is the first thing that any recruit learned when they enter Naraka Griha. The teacher would repeat it three times.

But it is the responsibility of the student to remember it.

It is not some written test. The test is life. And if you don’t remember it, then do so at the risk of your own peril

She is angered. And she could control and she must control it. the Seed is just a whisper. It could not do anything more than when it comes to one own emotion.

When it reached parasite realm, then that is another story. But for now, the power is always on the hands or more specifically in the mind of Ayera herself

He saw all of this and the only thing he could do is shakes his head

This child...she did not know how close she is to suffer in a calamity.

"too rash, too bold, too sharp. Those who are too rash would suffer, those who are too bold is easily manipulated, those who are too sharp become brittle and break when one meet true steel"

Ayera has many of the traits Mahakala has.

Mahakala is also rash, bold and sharp.

But the rashness of Mahakala is backed by strength. Mahakala boldness is backed by absolute confidence.

Mahakala sharpness has been tempered perfectly

When Mahakala is angry, the anger is like a burning inferno that would burn everything and nothing could escape it.

It is the kind of anger that nothing could stop

The key point here, lies in the fact that nothing could stop it. Mahakala is like the force of nature itself.

It is because Mahakala has powers that she could do all of that. The rashness, the boldness, the sharpness comes from confidence.

Before she fights, she already has the victory in her mind.

Ayera however is still just a child.

There is still too many things she didn’t know and too many dangers she could not even perceive

This is the world of mortals.

And mortals have their own way of dealing things.

She herself is a mortal. Yet, she did not learn the intricacies of doing things according to the rules of the mortal world

If you want to break the rules, you better have strength and something to back that idea. If not, use the rules and obey the rules

The Khan could simply kill her if he wanted to.

Yes, he is her husband.

But a man like that whose dream and ambition seemingly able to swallow the world, killing his wife is something he would not hesitate to do

Seeing the Khan, he knows that is a breathing living person.

What he means by living and breathing is that he is not some political machine nor is he someone who seeks power at all cost, not some power hungry monster

If he was a political monsters, the moment Ayera provide no use for her, he would have killed her or find a reason to divorce her the moment Garron lost control in Utgard

But he didn’t

There is no love between them. But there is affection. And affection could always bloom to love.....or it could bloom into hatred.

The line between it is very thing

She is playing with fire too much.

The Khan however did not yet show her any fire. But if he shows her fire, then that means it is already too late

But she still didn’t know the kind of danger she is in

Hence, she is still just a child

A na?ve child

A child with a sharp weapon and swinging it around. She has the seed of Mahakala in her, and she possess great power, but an unsheathed sword would hurt even its owner.

There is no sheathe.

As for the Khan, that is not a sheathe. That is fire that could melt sword. If she is not careful and keep playing with fire, that fire that could temper her would burn her so hot that she would be melted into nothingness

But even so, he did not say anything. He did not warn her and he did not say anything about it

Ayera notices Narakanatha and she looks beside her. Before, she is always shocked seeing that man always appears without a sound

It was almost like he appears with the shadows. The way he appears is almost like he melded with her shadow and appears beside her.

Well, she does know that the Naraka Griha has many methods and ways of stealth.

She once heard that there is someone in the Naraka Griha who is called the Shadow Walker. A blind woman assassin who walks among the shadows.

At first Ayera thought the moniker is just that. A moniker. But it turns out that moniker is literally her abilities.

Whether that was true or not is something she did not know. She does however heard the stories. And the stories said that this blind woman assassin could meld with the shadows of people

And then she would slit the throat of the person she wanted to kill and slink back into the shadow.

She has never been caught and her name itself is a terror in Yindu before she dies.
