Chapter 269: Chapter 166: Wuchen’s Highlight Moment

Xu Ran had also heard about what Li Daoyi and the others mentioned—that several young prodigies had emerged from the Demon Race’s Demon Court.

Ever since Immortal Ancient broke ties with the Demon Race, the Cultivation Realm had never relaxed its vigilance toward them. The newly emerged Demon Court was a matter of utmost importance.

It could be said that any move the Demon Court made would spread rapidly throughout the Cultivation Realm.

The recent appearance of these young prodigies was one of the most significant rumors about the Demon Court. Xu Ran often heard discussions about them within the Sect.

There were five of these prodigies from the Demon Court in total—three men and two women. All were disciples of the Lord of the Demon Court and were known as the Five Young Demon Saints.

In the Demon Race, the title of Demon Saint was equivalent to the Daoist Venerable Realm for Human Race Cultivators—a realm Above Divinity Transformation. It was not a title just anyone could obtain.

Yet, the five prodigies of the Demon Court brazenly took on the title of Demon Saint. Even with the "Young" prefix, one could clearly sense the unconcealed ambition the Demon Race had for them.

Furthermore, there was one thing that set these Five Young Demon Saints apart from ordinary Demon Cultivators.

Demon Cultivators of the Demon Race generally cultivated through their bloodline heritage. Their method of growing stronger was to absorb and refine Heaven and Earth Spiritual Objects to enhance their bloodline power.

It wasn’t that no Demon Cultivator had ever tried to cultivate normally like the Human Race, but the results had always shown that the human path was unsuitable for them.

However, the Demon Court’s Five Young Demon Saints went against the norm, abandoning the path of bloodline power. All their strength came from their own cultivation.

And the one who had taught them this cultivation method was none other than the Lord of the Demon Court.

This was what the Immortal Ancient Cultivation Realm feared most.

If the Demon Race could cultivate through normal means like the Human Race, it wouldn’t be long before this entire world belonged to them. Not even the Evil Demon Race and Phoenix Race could stand against them.

This was not mere fear-mongering. Although the Immortal Ancient World called the Evil Demon Race and Phoenix Race "evil demons," they were, in essence, the same as those in the Immortal Ancient Cultivation Realm—they were human.

The cultivation of the Human Race had all sorts of thresholds. Comprehension, Root Bone, and so on could prevent ninety percent of the Human Race from ever stepping onto the path of cultivation. Afterward, every single step was progressively harder.

The Demon Race, however, was different. They were born with the aptitude for cultivation, and a good aptitude at that. The only reason they hadn’t become the rulers of this world was the limitations of their bloodline power.

Once they broke through their racial limitations and could cultivate normally like the Human Race, it was almost a foregone conclusion that the number of powerful experts in the Demon Race would skyrocket to a terrifying level.

So far, however, there had been no news of the Demon Court promoting this cultivation method on a large scale. The Immortal Ancient Cultivation Realm speculated that the Five Young Demon Saints were an experiment by the Lord of the Demon Court. If it was confirmed that this path was viable, it would inevitably be spread throughout the entire Demon Race in the future.

This made the Immortal Ancient Cultivation Realm extremely wary of the Lord of the Demon Court, wishing they could eliminate him as soon as possible.

Unfortunately, the Demon Court was filled with powerful experts, and the Lord of the Demon Court himself was incredibly mysterious. To this day, he had never appeared in public. Even among the Demon Race, people only knew that such a person existed.

As for who he was or what he looked like, no one knew.

Xu Ran couldn’t be certain if the Lord of the Demon Court was Qin Yufeng, but he was sure that Qin Yufeng was inextricably linked to the matter.

The Demon Race’s recent series of actions had repeatedly reshaped Xu Ran’s perception of Qin Yufeng. He felt that the guy who had once been regarded as a "plague god" during the great competition between sects, the one everyone avoided like the plague, was always able to come up with something new.

’He’s really become too strong.’

In truth, Xu Ran hadn’t been very interested in the Demon Court’s Young Demon Saints at first.

But after hearing Li Daoyi, Chu Lingxiao, and Luo Qianxue compare themselves to those Young Demon Saints, a sense of anticipation suddenly rose in his heart.

’If these young prodigies standing before me now were to one day run into those Young Demon Saints from the Demon Race, I wonder what the outcome would be.’

Qin Yufeng had once said that he would not proactively harm the Human Race. However, given the current situation, a war between the Human Race and the Demon Race was inevitable.

Even if Qin Yufeng didn’t attack the Immortal Ancient Cultivation Realm, once the realm had fully adapted to the great changes in the world and made sufficient preparations, it would take the initiative to attack the Demon Race.

The existence of Qin Yufeng and the Demon Court was too great a danger to the Immortal Ancient Cultivation Realm. Just the little that had been revealed so far—establishing academies in the Demon Race, experimenting with cultivation methods—was enough to make the Human Race feel threatened.

Not to mention the secret he held that had caused the schism between the Demon Race and the Human Race. The Immortal Ancient Cultivation Realm could not possibly allow him to continue developing like this.

All that was lacking now was the right moment.

Therefore, Xu Ran wondered if, on the day a war truly broke out between the Human and Demon Races, Li Daoyi and the other two could do as they claimed today: save the Cultivation Realm from its desperate plight and perhaps even change the course of events.

And there was a reason for his anticipation.

The Xu Ran of today was not the same as he was when he first met Yue Qingyu, Ye Shan, or even Zhang Zhentian—back then, his Cultivation was low, he had no foundation to speak of, and there was nothing he could do.

After hundreds of years of accumulation, while he couldn’t say how powerful he was now, he could at least play a role in fostering the growth of Li Daoyi and the others.
