Wasteland: I Awakened A Plant System
Chapter 387: Am I Miss Something?
It turned out that the locust’s Orb was located inside its brain, and Phanty’s final strike had directly knocked the Orb out.
"That worked out well; this saves me a Lucky Jewel."
Vikram summoned water to clean the bead. The ability attached to this Orb was precisely the blade wave, along with an illusion-type ability.
Temporarily putting away the Orb, Vikram scanned the surroundings. After confirming there were no other survivors nearby, he still decided to collect the locust’s corpse.
Who knew what else might be hidden inside it? Vikram dared not waste a single part of a Legendary-level creature.
He felt that his development speed was already fast enough, yet the Wasteland always seemed to produce even more terrifying creatures.
"It seems I still can’t let my guard down."
Just thinking about the so-called Wasteland Central Area gave Vikram a headache.
He always felt that the Central Area was not simply a place with a higher population density.
A higher population should mean resources were consumed more quickly, resulting in more ordinary Survivors.
Yet, every Central Area Survivor he had encountered so far was exceptionally powerful.
Could these people all be considered experts in the Central Area?
What Vikram didn’t know was that they had entered the Wasteland nearly two months earlier than him. Had he known that, he wouldn’t have found it so unbelievable.
Shaking his head, Vikram put those thoughts aside and contacted the territory, asking them to send people over.
Meanwhile, he returned to the supermarket’s retail area.
When he arrived back in the underground retail area, there were barely any Survivors left.
The moment the remaining Survivors saw the Legendary-level locust lured away by Phanty, they had been too busy escaping to remain there foolishly.
In the end, only Lilith and a few of her surviving subordinates were left.
Before Vikram even got close, Lilith hurried over.
She grabbed his arm and carefully looked him over from head to toe.
"Big Boss Vikram, are you alright?"
After confirming that Vikram was completely unharmed, she finally let out a long sigh of relief.
"No need to worry. I’m perfectly fine. What about you?"
Vikram asked her, while his eyes were already wandering around the retail area.
Lilith thought Vikram was worried about her. Her face immediately flushed red, and she lowered her head, not daring to meet his eyes.
"I’m... I’m fine."
"Wait, where’s Abhi?"
Vikram had no time to dwell on such thoughts. He immediately noticed that Abhi, who had previously been lying in a pool of blood, had disappeared.
Lilith shook her head.
"That Abhi... it seems he escaped while everyone’s attention was focused on the battle between Phanty and the locust."
"I’m sorry, Big Boss Vikram. I wasn’t paying attention."
Vikram didn’t mind and simply thought back to the situation.
At that time, everyone’s attention had been completely drawn to the battle between Phanty and the Legendary-level locust. No one had expected Abhi to quietly seize the opportunity to escape.
Since even Vikram hadn’t noticed his movements, it was only natural that no one else had either.
He could only blame that guy for being too cunning. Not only had he deceived them, but he had even managed to deceive the locust, which was quite impressive.
"Forget it, don’t worry about him."
"After something like this, our region’s Official Shelter will most likely be unable to continue operating."
Out of a team of nearly five hundred people, only a dozen or so had returned alive.
As soon as the news spread, the Official Shelter would inevitably become the target of every Survivor’s anger.
Perhaps the White Fox Shelter and Crimson Desire Shelter would also be implicated, but at least those two Shelters had never pointed guns at Survivors’ heads and used them as cannon fodder.
When the time came, it would be easy to manipulate public opinion and shift all the blame onto the regional Official Shelter.
"If something happens to the Official Shelter, Abhi will definitely have nowhere to hide. We can deal with that fish that slipped through the net another day."
It was already ten o’clock at night.
By the time the people from Vikram’s territory, along with the members of the Crimson Desire Shelter, arrived, the Wasteland had already fallen into complete darkness.
Divya and Sophia hurried over to Vikram. After confirming that he was completely unharmed, they followed his instructions and joined the others in collecting supplies from the retail area.
Even though many Survivors had looted a large amount of supplies earlier, nearly ninety percent of them had died here and naturally couldn’t take those supplies away.
So Vikram wasn’t worried about there not being enough supplies.
On the contrary, there were simply too many supplies for his small group to transport back in a single trip.
On the other side, after Lilith had collected enough supplies, she winked at Vikram and quietly pulled him aside.
"Stinky little brother, you can’t possibly take all these supplies by yourself, can you?"
"I have plenty of people. If you trust your big sister, just give me the coordinates of your Shelter."
"Then I’ll have my people deliver the supplies to you."
Vikram was slightly stunned.
To be honest, if he wanted to, he could simply transport all of these supplies back to his territory through the Treehouse Link.
However, he wasn’t greedy, nor did he feel he needed to take everything here.
Hearing Lilith proactively offer to help, Vikram fell silent for a moment.
He had already looked through the supplies in the retail area. Almost all of them were still within their expiration dates, and many even had fairly recent production dates.
It was a huge supermarket, and with so many supplies remaining, leaving them here would indeed be a waste.
After thinking for a moment, Vikram looked into Lilith’s sincere and expectant eyes before finally letting out a helpless sigh.
"For this trip, I don’t need most of the supplies. You can keep whatever your Shelter needs."
"As for the rest..." Vikram paused briefly before telling Lilith the coordinates of his Shelter for the first time.
"Send whatever is left there."
"Hehe, stinky little brother, I knew you would trust your beautiful big sister."
Looking at the joy almost overflowing from Lilith’s eyes, Vikram shrugged inwardly.
"It’s pretty much the same anyway, as long as the supplies are delivered."
As for Lilith using this opportunity to obtain his Shelter’s coordinates, Vikram wasn’t worried in the slightest. After all, she was already his woman, so there was nothing to hide from her.
After the supplies in the retail area were mostly sorted out, Lilith even took the initiative to hand over the two Legendary-level Zombie corpses to Vikram.
It should be noted that Vikram hadn’t attacked either of those two Legendary-level Zombies even once.
Lilith and her companions had dealt with them entirely on their own.
Noticing the surprise in Vikram’s eyes, Lilith smiled and lightly patted him on the shoulder.
"Consider it repayment for helping your big sister so many times."
"I’ve already given the two Legendary-level corpses to you, little brother, so I won’t be polite about taking the Epic-level Zombie corpses, alright?"
Looking at Lilith, whose smile was as bright as a blooming flower, Vikram rubbed his nose.
"Hiss... my charm really is irresistible."
After shamelessly admiring himself for a moment, Vikram led his team away.
Not long after stepping out of the supermarket’s main entrance, Vikram suddenly stopped.
"That’s not right!"
"What’s wrong?"
"Did we leave something behind?"
Sophia tilted her head, looking at Vikram with a puzzled expression.
"This is a Legendary-level resource point, damn it!"
Vikram only left behind those words before suddenly turning around and rushing back into the supermarket.
Just as Sophia was still confused, Divya seemed to realize something, and her expression immediately changed.
"The resource point’s pillar of light hasn’t appeared yet. There’s still danger inside!"
"The people from the Crimson Desire Shelter are still in there!"
Since there were many members of the Crimson Desire Shelter, they had stayed behind to continue collecting supplies.
Sure enough, the very next second, miserable screams immediately echoed from deep within the resource point.
At the same time, Vikram stood with an extremely grim expression on the deepest underground level of the supermarket.
It appeared to have once been the supermarket’s fresh food section, where vegetables, fruits, meat, and other fresh produce had been sold.
However, after so much time had passed, even under the Wasteland’s year-round temperatures below twenty degrees, everything had long since rotted and become completely inedible.
At this moment, however, Vikram’s attention wasn’t on the spoiled supplies at all.
Instead, it was fixed on the Legendary-level Zombie hiding in the darkness ahead, a creature that had remained concealed from beginning to end and had chosen not to reveal itself until now.
Just moments after Vikram had left, it had already killed several members of the Crimson Desire Shelter.
However, that wasn’t the main point.
At this moment, the ferocious-looking Zombie was clutching a female Survivor in its hand.
That Survivor was none other than Lilith, who had been laughing and joking with Vikram just moments earlier.
Now, Lilith’s abdomen had been torn open, with half of her intestines hanging outside her body.
Her entire right leg had been ripped off, exposing shattered bones.
Upon seeing Vikram arrive, Lilith, despite being on the verge of death, still forced a faint smile and silently mouthed a few words.
"Stinky little brother... it seems... you’re too late this time." Then, she slowly closed her eyes.
Vikram froze.
An indescribable rage immediately surged through his chest.
His face became frighteningly grim, while the killing intent surrounding him grew increasingly violent.
The bone-chilling pressure caused not only the surviving members of the Crimson Desire Shelter to tremble uncontrollably.
Even the Legendary-level Zombie instinctively threw Lilith’s body aside and retreated several steps.
Vikram didn’t draw any weapon. He simply clenched his right fist.
"Die!!!" A ghost-like roar erupted from Vikram’s mouth.
Before anyone could react, a deafening explosion suddenly rang throughout the supermarket.
The terrifying impact was no weaker than the locust’s previous blade wave.
The violent shockwave, accompanied by an ear-splitting roar, was so powerful that several nearby Survivors had their eardrums ruptured, with blood instantly flowing from their ears.
"Boom!!!" The entire supermarket, already on the verge of collapse, shook violently once again.
After a long while, the dust gradually settled.
Only then did everyone clearly see the scene before them.
The Legendary-level Zombie’s upper body had completely disappeared.
The remaining half of its body was embedded deep into the concrete wall, while blood and shattered flesh painted the surrounding walls crimson.
"Gulp..." Looking at the horrifying scene, the surviving members of the Crimson Desire Shelter and Vikram’s subordinates couldn’t help swallowing repeatedly.
When they finally came back to their senses, Lilith’s body had already disappeared.
Along with it... Vikram’s enraged figure had also vanished.
