Wasteland: I Awakened A Plant System
Chapter 370: Conflict With Members Of White Fox Shelter
Vikram took a small team of members, along with Phanty and Watery, and drove toward a location marked on the map.
It was one of the resource points whose coordinates Shalini had given him yesterday.
After spending some time living in Vikram’s Territory, these members had become much more disciplined and stronger than before.
When Vikram gave an order, none of them questioned it.
They simply carried out his instructions without hesitation.
As the Armored Vehicle sped across the wasteland, they continuously eliminated the zombies and insects that wandered onto the road ahead, ensuring the vehicle’s path remained clear.
It was worth mentioning that, for some unknown reason, perhaps because zombies didn’t taste good, the insects showed almost no interest in attacking them.
They would rather gnaw on tree trunks than bite zombies.
Likewise, although the number of zombies was noticeably lower than before, they also ignored the insects, seemingly finding these tiny creatures, which possessed very little flesh, unworthy of attacking.
"Damn Wasteland World..."
"It really goes out of its way to make life difficult for Earthlings."
After grumbling to himself, Vikram lowered his gaze slightly.
In his right hand was a golden glowing blueprint that Shalini had obtained and handed over to him.
[Resource Point Blueprint: Gold. After use, reveals the locations of all resource points within a 500-kilometer radius.]
According to the blueprint, Vikram was currently heading toward the nearest resource point.
—
Three and a half hours later.
The people in the four vehicles got out one after another and walked toward the foot of a mountain.
Vikram lowered his head once again and looked at the resource point blueprint in his hand.
[Large Resource Point: Public Security Bureau]
[Main Resources: Firearms and a Large Amount of Ammunition]
[Resource Point Level and Strongest Monster Level: Legendary]
"I didn’t expect there to be such a resource point not far from home."
"And it just happened to be generated inside the mountains. No wonder there wasn’t any news about it."
Large resource points, although rare, were not nearly as well hidden as small resource points.
Generally speaking, once they appeared, they were discovered very quickly.
Especially a resource point containing firearms and massive amounts of ammunition.
Any Survivor who discovered it would spread the news immediately.
The only reason this one had remained hidden until now was because it had spawned deep within the mountains, making it extremely difficult to discover.
Vikram’s main purpose in bringing these members here wasn’t simply to obtain the firearms.
Instead, he wanted to use this Legendary-level resource point to train them through real combat.
Only by experiencing life-and-death battles could they truly become reliable combatants.
At the same time, Vikram also wanted to observe one particular person.
Rocky.
If Rocky performed well during this expedition and demonstrated sufficient leadership ability, Vikram intended to appoint him as the leader of this combat team in the future.
After all, Vikram couldn’t personally lead every operation forever.
As his Territory continued expanding, capable leaders would become increasingly important.
Looking at the somewhat dilapidated gate of the Public Security Bureau, Vikram glanced at the people behind him before leading the way inside.
The moment they stepped into the resource point, everyone instinctively became alert.
Inside the Public Security Bureau, there were no signs of other Survivors.
Instead, numerous insect corpses lay scattered across the floor, while quite a few living insects still crawled through the hallways and offices.
What slightly relieved Vikram was that, although these insects attacked Survivor Shelters without restraint, they hadn’t damaged the buildings inside the resource point at all.
It was as if they instinctively avoided destroying them.
Just as Vikram was about to remind everyone to stay alert...
Whoosh!
The sound of glass shattering echoed from his right.
At the same time, a large-caliber bullet tore through the air, heading straight toward his head.
Initially, Vikram didn’t pay much attention.
With his current physique, ordinary bullets posed almost no threat.
However, when he caught sight of the bullet’s terrifying caliber and astonishing speed from the corner of his eye, the indifference in his expression instantly disappeared.
Without the slightest hesitation, he raised his left hand beside his head.
Pfft!
A dull sound rang out. Immediately afterward...
Clink!
The deformed bullet dropped onto the floor.
Vikram lowered his hand and glanced at the shallow wound where the bullet had grazed his palm.
A few drops of blood slowly rolled down.
Instead of fear, a trace of excitement flashed across his eyes.
"Armor-piercing ammunition... And a heavy sniper rifle."
He bent down, picked up the still-warm bullet, and examined it carefully.
The penetration and destructive power of this kind of anti-materiel weapon were in a completely different league compared to pistols or submachine guns.
If he could obtain a large quantity of these weapons from this resource point...
Perhaps even Epic-level creatures could be killed through concentrated fire.
Even Purple-Gold creatures could be severely injured.
After all... Even with his current physique, he had still been scratched by a single shot.
"Enemy attack! Protect the Boss!" Rocky reacted almost instantly. He raised his rifle and shouted.
The team members behind him immediately rushed forward, forming a defensive line in front of Vikram while pointing their weapons toward every possible firing position.
However, Vikram simply shook his head.
"No need. He already ran."
Vikram slowly looked toward a distant mountain peak outside the shattered window.
Although the sniper had already withdrawn immediately after firing...
Phanty had already locked onto the faint shadow disappearing into the forest.
Vikram smiled faintly.
"You guys stay here. I’ll be back in a moment."
Without waiting for anyone to respond, Vikram’s figure shot out through the broken window like a cannonball, disappearing into the forest in the direction from which the shot had come.
On the other side.
Two well-equipped survivors were fleeing for their lives.
One of them was the person who had just shot at Vikram.
"What the hell? This is a sniper rifle, and it couldn’t even penetrate his palm?"
"Stop talking nonsense. We’ve messed with a tough one this time. Let’s get out of here quickly."
"Anyway, the situation here has already been reported to the Boss. As long as we escape, the Boss will naturally find a way to deal with this group of people."
The other person believed him without question and continued running with his head down.
But before they could get far, a Survivor was already leisurely sitting on a rock ahead.
He was sitting with his legs crossed, smiling as he watched the two of them approach.
The two immediately stopped in their tracks, their eyes filled with vigilance as they looked at Vikram.
When they clearly saw his face, both of them instantly gasped, their faces turning pale.
They had carefully chosen their sniping position to prevent any latecomers from entering the resource point they had discovered first.
The sniping position was at least two hundred meters away from the Public Security Bureau.
They had started running first, yet they were still caught by the other party.
This was no longer a matter of speed; it was like seeing a ghost.
"Gentlemen, you shot someone. Are you just going to leave without an explanation?" Vikram asked unhurriedly.
However, neither of them dared to be careless.
After merely exchanging a glance, they each pulled out a grenade from their backpacks and immediately threw it toward Vikram.
These two were quite clever.
They had pulled the grenade pins in advance before placing them inside their backpacks.
Because time was frozen inside their backpacks, the grenades wouldn’t detonate.
Now, the moment they were thrown out, they became instant-detonation grenades.
"Boom!"
Thick smoke billowed into the surroundings, and the explosion startled many zombies and insects nearby.
"At such a close range, he must be dead now, right?"
As soon as the words fell, the thick smoke gradually dissipated.
Vikram hadn’t even changed his posture.
He simply sat there, looking at the two with a playful expression.
The impact and shrapnel from the grenade explosion had naturally been neutralized by the water manipulated by Watery.
Although Watery was still far away, he could easily control water even from such a great distance.
"I ask. You answer."
"If you dare say no..."
"You know the consequences."
Cold sweat instantly soaked the backs of the two Survivors.
Vikram’s strength had reached a level they had never even heard of.
No matter how unwilling they were, they no longer dared to run away.
"Which Shelter are you from, and how long have you known about this resource point?"
One of them took a deep breath.
"I warn you, you’d better let us go quickly, otherwise—"
"Whoosh!"
A sharp blue flash streaked through the air and disappeared.
Before he could finish saying that Vikram wouldn’t be able to bear the consequences, his head had already separated from his body.
The corpse collapsed to the ground with a thud.
Seeing this, the remaining Survivor’s face instantly turned deathly pale.
His eyes were filled with fear. He no longer dared to play any tricks.
"We... We’re from White Fox Shelter. We only discovered this resource point two days ago."
A trace of surprise flashed across Vikram’s eyes upon hearing the name White Fox Shelter.
"Oh?"
"So your Boss discovered such a valuable place."
"Then why did he only send the two of you here instead of bringing more people to take away the weapons inside?"
The Survivor hurriedly answered.
"Our Boss is currently negotiating with the Official Shelter to jointly explore another resource point guarded by a Legendary Zombie."
"He can’t spare enough manpower at the moment."
"Besides..."
"There is also a Legendary-level monster inside this resource point."
"With just the two of us, our task was only to guard the entrance and prevent anyone else from discovering it."
Vikram’s expression became even stranger after hearing those words.
The Official Shelter... Wasn’t it discussing cooperation with Crimson Desire Shelter not long ago?
Why had it suddenly joined hands with White Fox Shelter instead?
Had the negotiations with Crimson Desire Shelter fallen through... Or had something happened that he didn’t know about?
—
White Fox Shelter.
Jade was pacing back and forth at the entrance, seemingly waiting for someone.
It wasn’t until a team of uniformly dressed people approached that he smiled.
Seeing that the person leading the team was unfamiliar, a slight doubt flickered in his eyes, but he still extended his right hand.
"Welcome to the Official Shelter, to our White Fox Shelter. My humble abode is honored by your presence."
"I am Jade, the Director of White Fox Shelter. May I ask what this unfamiliar officer’s name is?"
Jade was very cunning. Even though he realized the person who came wasn’t Evan, he didn’t mention it at all, which greatly pleased Abhi.
"Hahaha, it’s normal that Director Jade doesn’t know me. I am Abhi, the newly appointed Deputy Director of the Official Shelter."
"Currently, most of the affairs of the Shelter are handled by me."
Jade’s expression froze when he heard the name.
A few days ago, he had heard his subordinates say that someone named Abhi had ruined their good deed of disrupting the Crimson Desire Shelter’s project, but then let them go.
The other party even claimed to be Jade’s spy whom he had sent out.
Jade knew it was nonsense as soon as he heard it. He had originally intended to try and capture that kid and torture him.
Now it seemed that the name was definitely fake as well.
Secretly remembering this person, he put away his thoughts and turned to look at Abhi.
After the two revealed their identities, the subsequent conversation was much simpler.
It was nothing more than the Official Shelter later creating momentum to attract Survivors from other factions to jointly explore the resource point, and asking White Fox Shelter to assist from the side.
The two were birds of a feather. As soon as Abhi’s plan was presented, it quickly gained Jade’s approval.
Half an hour later, after seeing Abhi off, Jade’s expression became somewhat gloomy.
