Chapter 740: Deployment Begins, Transmission Anomaly, Trap and Encirclement

Facts proved otherwise.

Things were far easier than the mercenaries had imagined.

They had assumed there would be enemies guarding this bridge spanning the strait.

Yet it was completely unobstructed.

If not for the carriage tracks in the ice and snow proving that this city truly was the enemy's lair, the mercenaries would have thought they had found the wrong city.

"The enemy couldn't have thrown all their forces into that mountain range, could they!"

Such thoughts arose in some of their minds.

But it no longer mattered.

The moment the 'wolf pack' mercenaries entered Green Forest City, they dispersed across the streets of the western district according to the predetermined plan, and began installing 'transmission beacons.'

The so-called transmission beacon was a special signal emitter with a unique psychic ability fluctuation.

Once all 36 beacons were installed, these psychic ability fluctuations would stack and combine with each other, producing a special wave.

All 36 beacons were quickly installed.

As the beacons activated, under the mercenaries' expectant gazes, the indicator lights on these beacons gradually shifted from red to green.

This also signaled that the psychic ability stacking composition had succeeded.

Qiming Mobile City would descend upon this city very soon!

-

"Report, special energy fluctuations detected in the western district, possessing transmission characteristics!"

Eastern district, the plaza of the Civilization War Fortress at the deepest part of the Hunter Training Camp.

The soldier stationed on the plaza's elevated platform, who had been monitoring spatial fluctuations all along, suddenly shouted loudly.

Behind him, Yu Yuan, who had been resting with his eyes closed, abruptly opened both eyes, revealing an expression that said the show was about to begin.

Carmen had already walked toward the soldier.

"Capture the fluctuations at full power, conduct comprehensive monitoring." Then he turned his head to look at Yu Yuan.

"Leader, the enemy has taken the bait!"

"These fellows really are cautious. They should have appeared half a day ago, but they waited until now."

Yu Yuan stood up.

"Since they've finished placing their transmission beacons, it's time to make our final preparations."

"Understood!"

-

[Transmission beacon fluctuations detected, beacon fluctuation lock-on complete!]

The sudden notification message made Wu Qiming's face light up with pleasant surprise.

"Success!"

The airship fleet also sent word that they had spotted the city's trail and could provide aerial strike support at any time.

Wu Qiming understood this was a rare opportunity.

To install those beacons, the wolf pack might have already alerted the enemy.

He needed to set out as soon as possible, otherwise once Yu Yuan discovered the beacons, it would be trouble.

He pressed the city broadcast horn:

"Hello hello hello, this is the City Lord, everyone attention, everyone attention, long-distance deployment will commence in five minutes, all personnel enter combat posts, activate first-level combat readiness."

"Repeat once more, in five minutes..."

As Wu Qiming's voice rang out, the entire Qiming Mobile City entered war mode.

At the same time, enormous energy began converging at the mobile city's core area. All energy across the city, save for essential facilities, was drawn toward this location.

A massive spherical precision instrument erupted with radiant light as this energy gathered.

Space began to tremble faintly, various particles colliding and flashing within the space.

Wu Qiming also watched the data on the screen with complete focus.

[Deployment generator successfully connected to transmission beacon........fluctuation synchronized......energy injection commencing.......spatial oscillation beginning......spatial deployment in 10 seconds......9 seconds........]

Just as the countdown reached 5 seconds.

The energy on that spherical precision instrument suddenly amplified, and a layer of transparent energy membrane enveloped Qiming Mobile City.

[3 seconds......2 seconds.......1 second........Deployment begins!]

[City Trait - Spatial Rift activated]

Hum-

Space violently quaked, and a rift appeared above Qiming Mobile City.

Within 0.5 seconds, Qiming Mobile City, amid distortion, drilled into that rift and vanished without a trace.

-

"Teleportation fluctuation detected, teleportation coordinates: western district"

"Activate transmission shift, coordinates sixty kilometers out in Greenwood Sea"

Carmen's voice was ice-cold.

"Transmission shift activated successfully, teleportation coordinates changed to sixty kilometers out in Greenwood Sea"

Yu Yuan looked at Carmen.

"Since the main party has arrived, those rats in the western district, notify Hogg to clean them up!"

"Understood!"

The wolf pack mercenaries in the western district watched the energy fluctuations appearing on the transmission beacons, all of them wearing expressions of excitement.

Once the mobile city descended, their mission would be complete. They didn't need to participate in the subsequent battle, and this job's reward was already in hand.

But quickly they discovered something was wrong.

The energy fluctuations on the transmission beacons were clearly growing brighter and brighter, on the verge of reaching critical point to complete deployment.

Now they suddenly vanished, replaced by a faint burning smell.

The entire wolf pack wore expressions of shock and dismay.

They checked the situation with each other, and everyone's result was identical.

The transmission beacons were all scrapped, which was the mark of completed transmission.

But...

They looked at the empty, deserted city streets.

"Damn it, where did they teleport to?" The wolf pack mercenaries voiced their confusion.

And at this moment, Wu Qiming's heart similarly gave birth to this same confusion.

"Where the hell did I get teleported to? Damn it!"

He looked at the vast world of iceand snow.

Boundless.

Looking at it made one's heart race with unease.

Forget cities, he couldn't even see a single hair of those damn wolf pack mercenaries here.

Just then.

[Received wolf pack communication request!]

The next second.

"City Lord, sir? Where did you teleport to? Why hasn't the city appeared in the city area after the transmission ended?"

Wu Qiming's eyelid twitched.

The fact that the wolf pack could establish contact with him meant the distance between them hadn't exceeded 100 kilometers.

From their meaning, the wolf pack was currently in the city area, which meant his transmission had gone wrong.

A trace of foreboding arose in his heart.

Without time for further thought, he pressed the city broadcast, but before he could even speak.

Sssss-

With a hiss full of raging fury.

The ice surface violently shook, the mobile city trembled intensely. Wu Qiming staggered, looking out the window in disbelief.

On the originally calm ice plain, a massive ice crystal spider emerged from the ice, surrounded by thousands upon thousands of small spiders.

As this giant spider let out a screech.

In an instant, a blizzard descended upon this ice plain.

Dong dong dong-

The sound of heavy objects stomping rang out.

In another direction, an equally massive humanoid creature slowly crawled out from the ice and snow, holding a wolf-tooth club over twenty meters long, composed of ice blocks and rock.

It was precisely that Silver-tier creature they had seen earlier at the Gugu Ga Mountain Range.

"Damn it, how is it here."

And this was only the beginning.

A giant serpent with bat-like snow-white wings flew through the air.

A scorpion creature with six segmented legs, a body fusing beehive and beetle carapace, crawled out from beneath the ice.

An ice-cold wild boar, its whole body radiating cold mist, with tusks and blood-red eyes, gazed over.

A snowfield mammoth covered in thick fur yet encased in ice armor strode out from the wind and snow.

Finally, a giant ape with snow-white fur slowly walked out from the blizzard.

This giant ape wasn't particularly large, only about thirty meters tall.

But the instant it appeared, the other six Silver-tier creatures, even the most irascible Ice Crystal Spider Fiend, halted their movements and looked toward it, seemingly acknowledging its status by default.

The giant ape held a blue ice axe in its hand, looked at the appeared mobile city, snorted 'huff huff' white mist-like breath from its nose, its gaze carrying disdain.

Wu Qiming looked at the seven ice creatures that had appeared around the mobile city, his heart turning cold.

"Silver-tier, all of them Silver-tier, this... this is a trap? How is that possible!" He couldn't believe it.

The ice giant ape lightly spat at the mobile city, then raised the ice axe high, assuming a throwing posture.

After a brief charge, the ice axe was hurled toward the mobile city, accompanied by a furious roar.

"Awoo!!!"

The other six Silver-tier ice creatures, the instant the ice axe was thrown, seemed to receive the signal for a general assault.

They moved together...
