Wasteland Hideout: Upgrading from the Sewers

Chapter 611: Silver-tier Melee, the Unrivaled Artus, the Ancient Comet

"Artus?"

Yu Yuan looked at the sorcerer standing on the carriage, the figure matching the intelligence Greenfield had provided.

A sliver of killing intent flashed in his eyes.

"So you're Artus after all!"

The killing intent vanished as quickly as it had come, because he saw a mocking smile appear at the corner of Artus's mouth.

At that moment the lava human's molten fireball was closing in on him.

A mass of black mist surged from Artus, obscuring his silhouette.

The lava fireball detonated inside the black mist.

"Ah…" a piercing scream issued from within the fog.

The black mist rapidly dispersed.

What appeared next stunned everyone present.

Where Artus should have been struck by the fireball, he had vanished.

In his place was a man with bat wings.

The man’s body was wrapped by membranous wings behind him, his flesh marked by burns from the lava.

He fell from the sky, the wings that had tightly wrapped his body unfolding, but only a few main bones remained; the flesh of the wings had been consumed into ash by lava, flames, and the gray-black energy.

His black tailcoat was in tatters, revealing shredded flesh and pallid skin beneath.

One arm and its shoulder were already gone.

Boom—

The man hit the ground with a heavy thud.

This sudden scene left everyone present dumbfounded.

Yu Yuan recognized at a glance that the man was a Silver-tier vampire.

If he knew, the others certainly recognized it too.

The Werewolf narrowed his eyes, scrutinizing the situation.

Demon Anta had not expected this either.

He had clearly attacked Artus, so why had a vampire appeared instead?

Only Artus reappeared, driving the carriage through the dark clouds in the sky, his mocking smile unchanged.

"Hmph! A Blood Clan member! Hiding within death aura to sneak-attack—you're asking for death."

Moments later, without any visible motion from Artus, the death aura in the sky coalesced into a huge reaperlike specter brandishing a scythe, slashing toward the Blood Clan member.

The vampire tried to dodge, but he had already taken Demon Anta's full-power blow head-on, a surprise hit that left him gravely wounded.

His mutilated body could not evade.

Although he was a Silver-rank player, his strength might be respectable within the Old Guard Faction, but against famous Silver-list fighters like Demon Anta, Broker Artus, and Shadow Wolf, the gap was not small.

Boom—

As the scythe came down, the vampire burst into dozens of bloody bats, scattering in all directions.

His idea was simple: if even one escaped, he had a chance to survive.

But Artus was not about to let him go.

Or rather, this vampire had always been Artus's target.

Otherwise, why would Duke Yegu hand over a Civilization Relic Invitation Letter as payment for such a lowly Bronze-rank player?

The Blood Clan forbids internecine slaughter, but as a third party Artus needed no such scruples.

This was his second deal with Duke Yegu.

Or rather, the real deal.

Because this vampire belonged to the Old Guard Faction’s Charles.

With that thought in mind, as the scythe-reaper pursued the dispersing bats, it exploded into dozens of skulls, each steeped in death aura, howling as they chased the bats.

The outcome was obvious.

The death aura instantly enveloped all the bats.

Then the death aura condensed around the bats.

Chewing sounds and screams echoed in the black fog.

At that moment Shadow Wolf reappeared behind Demon Anta.

Demon Anta had already been slightly wounded by the Civilization Relic’s defensive attack earlier.

Then he was scorched by Dawnlight’s flame, and even his demonic true form was struggling to hold.

As a being born of molten demon lineage, fire should not have harmed him—he was fire and lava incarnate.

But Dawnlight’s flame, the exclusive power of the former Lord of Dawn, carried potent purification effects.

It was naturally effective against demonic bloodlines.

Shadow Wolf clearly knew this.

He threw a second bottle of Dawnlight’s flame.

Demon Anta noticed Shadow Wolf’s move and tried to strike.

His snake-headed whip lashed out, but four black chains appeared from behind Demon Anta, binding his hands.

It was Artus.

Boom—

White flames rose again.

Demon Anta could no longer maintain his demonic true body; his shape shrank, reverting to a bandage-wrapped form.

Dawnlight's flame still burned over him as he collapsed, motionless.

His heart filled with resentment; he could not understand how Dawnlight’s flame could appear when the Lord of Dawn had long since fallen.

Shadow Wolf rushed in, claws aimed at Demon Anta’s skull.

But as his claws swung, he abruptly retracted, violently twisting his body, spinning in the air and landing several bounds away.

Sss, sss, sss—

Three white bone spears appeared in front of Demon Anta.

If Shadow Wolf had not reacted so swiftly, those spears would have impaled him.

Then three more bone spears launched.

This time they targeted the fallen Demon Anta.

The three spears struck his skull, heart, and abdomen respectively.

Sss, sss, sss—

The bone spears pierced Anta’s body; the lava-and-flame flesh seethed under the onslaught of dense death aura.

Two fundamentally different forces clashed and battled.

But Anta, already struck twice by Dawnlight’s flame bottles, was no match for Artus.

In an instant he was covered by the death aura.

Shadow Wolf watched the scene, a keen light flashing in his eyes as he looked at Artus.

Artus gave a faint, half-illusory smile.

He smiled at Shadow Wolf.

"Shadow Wolf, Fallen Abyss cooperated with the Blood Clan, killing many of your elites at Bronze-tier. Does this count as revenge for you?"

"Right now, besides us, there are three people hiding in the dark. Are you sure you want to make a move against me?"

As Artus spoke, the black mist that had shrouded the vampire and Demon Anta gradually faded.

Their figures were revealed.

Shadow Wolf's pupils shifted.

Because the eyes of these two had completely turned black.

Their bodies were thoroughly seasoned by the thick death aura.

Their gazes were dull, no longer lively.

They all walked up to Artus and stared at Shadow Wolf.

Each of them then produced a Civilization Relic Invitation Letter, which flew into Artus's hand.

A chill rose in Shadow Wolf's chest and a thought flashed through his mind.

"Artus actually controlled them!"

Yu Yuan had the same thought.

There was no doubt Artus's power exceeded his expectations.

Or rather, the combat strength of these people all surpassed his expectations.

Take that lava human—Yu Yuan could clearly sense the molten demon aura on him.

He and Knight were both Silver-tier, but in a straight-up fight against that lava human, Knight would probably be killed within three moves.

That was not exaggeration.

And Shadow Wolf—Yu Yuan could not clearly see his movements at all, let alone fight him.

But the most dangerous man now was Artus.

"I have to find a way to kill this son of a bitch here."

With that thought, the Virtual Light Screen activated.

Yu Yuan glanced at a card on the Book of Fate and sneered inwardly.

"I can't beat you in raw combat, but when it comes to tricks… hmph!"
