Wasteland Hideout: Upgrading from the Sewers

Chapter 595: Purge, Secret Room, and the Dawn Consortium Leader

  • Next Chapter

"Attention all Dawn Consortium personnel, you are surrounded. Surrender immediately, or resist and... die!"

Alpha's voice echoed throughout the entire Twin Towers.

"Damn it, someone's hacked our system."

Someone immediately caught on.

"Hurry up, everyone get ready for combat—we've got enemies!"

If the gunshots earlier hadn't been enough to make things clear, the upper echelons of Dawn Consortium now confirmed it—this was an enemy attack.

And that enemy was most likely Dead Mine Town.

Under the leaders' command, some began gathering people to suit up in gear, while others tried contacting personnel in different areas.

But they quickly discovered that aside from face-to-face or shouting through walls, every form of communication—radios, walkie-talkies, all of it—had been completely neutralized.

On top of that, every electronic door in each section was firmly locked shut. If they wanted to move to another area, there was only one option left.

Blowing their way through.

But inside the Twin Towers, the only high-powered explosives were normally stored in the ammunition depot. Under these isolated conditions, there was no way to get their hands on them.

Even if they had bombs, the Twin Towers—as Dawn Consortium's headquarters—had undergone constant renovations over the years, all aimed at turning this place into the sturdiest fortress imaginable.

Those electronic doors had been designed with the highest protection levels, but now they had become the strongest cages trapping them inside.

"Commander Alpha, the Twin Towers' weapon depot and ammunition storage are now sealed. Internal communications are completely cut off. All floors and zones have been isolated and separated..."

The voice of the 'Ghost' electronic warfare armored vehicle operator rang out.

Alpha understood—it was time to strike.

"Pioneering Group, move out!"

At the command, the Pioneering Group members, who had been waiting for this moment, sprang into action.

All of them were clad in Mechanical Armor. With energy surging through their suits, they unleashed inhuman Movement Speed and strength.

Moving in seamless coordination, they appeared outside the Twin Towers in the blink of an eye.

Dawn Consortium's sentries spotted the Pioneering Group.

Rat-a-tat-tat—

The battle began.

A hail of bullets slammed into the Mechanical Armor, but it was like firing at the hardest alloy steel plates—only sparks flew from the impacts.

But just seconds later, a few distinctive gunshots rang out.

Every single Dawn Consortium thug was hit by bullets without exception, collapsing to the ground with disbelief etched on their faces.

Seizing the moment, the Pioneering Group stormed into the Twin Towers.

When the Dawn Consortium thugs—lost in isolation, trapped in panic, desperately waiting for the sealed electronic doors to finally open—saw what awaited them, it was a sight straight out of a sci-fi blockbuster.

Armored soldiers, resembling interstellar warriors, stood before them. Clad in heavy battle armor, exuding a blood-soaked and ruthless aura, they aimed their weapons at everyone.

A voice cold enough to chill the bone echoed from the armored soldiers.

"Alliance of Nations—surrender and live!"

In the end, Dawn Consortium's thugs were just wasteland thugs. No matter how advanced their weapons and gear were, they couldn't match the Pioneering Group's equipment.

These thugs might be ignorant, but they weren't stupid.

Anyone who had survived this long was sharp as a tack.

Between the warning that had blasted through the entire building, the severed communications, the sealed electronic doors, and now the sheer firepower gap—every single factor crushed Dawn Consortium's defenses.

Clang—

Someone reacted fast, tossing their weapon to the ground.

"I surrender! I surrender!"

Clang—

"Me too! Don't kill me!"

Where there was one, there were more.

These thugs were only fighting for Dawn Consortium to survive in the first place.

Soon, every single one of them had laid down their weapons and surrendered.

The Pioneering Group left a few members to guard the prisoners while the rest split into squads and began sweeping through Dawn Consortium.

Most of Dawn Consortium's thugs knew when to yield. Seeing the Pioneering Group's overwhelming power, they surrendered immediately.

But there were still some who chose to fight to the bitter end—mostly Dawn Consortium's core upper management, the ones at the very top who had the most to lose.

They weren't about to give up their power and status so easily.

Between being a faction leader and a prisoner, they didn't need much deliberation to make their choice.

And the Pioneering Group showed them no mercy.

Under Alpha's surveillance, anyone who chose to resist was instantly flagged, and the corresponding Pioneering Group members were notified. What followed was the most brutal purge and suppression imaginable.

Dawn Consortium's strength lay in its nuclear weapons and long-range strike capabilities. Against ordinary factions, those strategic weapons were an absolute game-changer.

But now, with its electronic network systems completely under Alpha's control, Dawn Consortium was like a tiger stripped of its claws and fangs. All it could do was tremble in fear as the Pioneering Group steamrolled through.

Just as the Pioneering Group was tearing through the Twin Towers like a hot knife through butter, Yu Yuan turned his attention to the three people in front of him—now dazed and mindless after Zhi Zhi's piercing shriek. He furrowed his brow slightly.

"Is this the Dawn Consortium leader from earlier?"

The face was the same, but something felt... off.

Just then, a message from Alpha came through.

[Alpha: King, 'Ghost' just detected an anomalous signal. The signal was very brief, and its source is the room you're in.]

"Anomalous signal!"

Yu Yuan's gaze swept across the entire room. If Alpha said the signal was here, then it had to be correct.

[Wolf Den · King: Any suspicious areas?]

Inside the command vehicle, Alpha pulled up a 3D model of the floor where the Dawn Consortium leader's room was located. It had been extracted from Dawn Consortium's database.

Next to it was the real-world layout of the room itself.

Soon, a peculiar area was marked.

[Alpha: King, according to the 3D model, the space behind the wine cabinet in this room is larger than what the model shows. That's likely the location of a secret room.]

"Wine cabinet?"

Yu Yuan's eyes shifted. But Zhi Zhi had already leaped over first.

With one swift strike, the rat smashed the wine cabinet aside, revealing the wall behind it.

But there was no trace of a hidden door on the wall.

At first glance, it looked like a completely solid wall.

However, Zhi Zhi's nose twitched as it sniffed the air, then turned its gaze toward the left-center of the wall, looking back at Yu Yuan.

Yu Yuan understood immediately.

His mechanical gloves began to shift.

Switching to Heavy Hammer mode.

He planted his feet in a horse stance and started charging up.

The moment Skull-Crusher Hammer finished charging, he let out a explosive shout.

White steam erupted from the heavy hammer as it carried devastating, unstoppable energy. Under Yu Yuan's control, it slammed into the wall at the spot Zhi Zhi had indicated.

Boom—

The wall let out a sound of metal colliding with metal.

After a brief pause as the energy accumulated, the heavy hammer's impact sent a camouflaged alloy door—a full twenty centimeters thick—flying off its hinges, twisted and deformed.

It crashed into the secret room's wall and embedded itself there.

The violent breach had inevitably damaged the wine cabinet wall, but Yu Yuan paid it no mind.

The heavy hammer transformed back into mechanical gloves in his hand.

Yu Yuan stepped into the room and found the real Dawn Consortium leader inside.

The man was holding a weapon, but he had lost all will to fight. His eyes, fixed on Yu Yuan, were filled with nothing but sheer terror and horror.

A contemptuous smile curled on Yu Yuan's lips.

"Heh... you sure know how to hide!"
