Wasteland Hideout: Upgrading from the Sewers
Chapter 539: Vehicle Armament, Mutant Wild Dogs, Cult Remnants?
"Leader, in this battle we killed 214 enemies and captured 516 prisoners. Four soldiers from Dead Mine Town were killed in action. One Mammoth heavy assault vehicle was destroyed, and two Fortress fire support vehicles were damaged…"
Yu Yuan listened to the battle loss report and looked at Quis.
"Quis, bury the fallen soldiers according to martyr protocols. Recover all wrecked vehicles and put everything into producing Mechanical Armor vehicles."
"Yes!"
"By the way, what have you learned about the Dawn Consortium's nuclear test site?"
Quis answered immediately.
"We have located that nuclear test site. It's on the outskirts of Merry City, but its defenses are extremely tight. Our people couldn't get in."
"Also, we've pinpointed the Dawn Consortium's base inside Merry City. It's in the twin towers at the central activity plaza. The entire city is occupied by the Dawn Consortium. Aside from a few scavenger factions, every other force has been completely cleared out by them."
"As for the Reyes Legion's headquarters, we've scouted it. It's in the southeast, at Angra Town. That place has been fully occupied and fortressified by the Reyes Legion. According to interrogations of captured Reyes soldiers, these two offensives have already consumed about two-thirds of their total forces. The remaining garrison numbers roughly two to three hundred."
Hearing that, Yu Yuan interrupted at once."You mean the Reyes Legion had at least nine hundred people originally?"
"Yes! Uh… is there a problem?"
Quis looked puzzled.
But the Alpha standing beside him also furrowed his brow.
"How did they survive until now? Nine hundred people means food consumption alone is a huge issue every day. To hold out this long — that town isn't like a city with emergency reserves…"
Quis suddenly realized.
"Boss, I might know why. That town is a famous granary town. It's surrounded by farms growing staple crops. The town is actually the trading hub for those farms, not only a renowned grain trading center but also a distribution hub for soybeans, corn, and other crops. They have massive grain storage facilities. Even the Grain Association and Soybean Association headquarters are in that region.
"When the Reyes Legion took the town originally, it cost them a lot of effort. According to them, the Reyes Legion once had the potential to become a giant like the Dawn Consortium. Capturing this town inflicted them heavy losses, and that’s how they were weakened step by step. But because of that initial battle, other forces gave up the idea of capturing the town. Over the following years, after their management and construction, the Reyes Legion firmly rooted themselves there."
"I see." Yu Yuan showed a look of understanding.
If that was the case, everything made sense.
"All right, then prepare. Let's resolve those two threats as quickly as possible."

Wasteland Calendar Day 86.
Yu Yuan returned to the Mechanical Scrapyard Planet world once more.
After modifications, this place had undergone fundamental changes from its original state, transformed into a fully functional military camp.
The defensive building blueprints they had found at Z007 Shelter were successfully constructed under the Printing Beam of the M-Type Source Core Mechanical Titan.
Fully automated emplacement warning cannons and laser anti-air lock turrets — these two heavy defense weapon systems protected the entire camp.
Combined with six-meter-high alloy walls half a meter thick, the military camp was armed to the teeth.
Infrared detection cameras were installed at several corners of the wall. Any living body appearing within five hundred meters of the camp would be detected immediately.
On several watchtowers, members of the Pioneering Group kept vigilant watch over the surroundings.
In the distance, the M-Type Source Core Mechanical Titan continued ravenously devouring mechanical debris.
The mechanical work crabs had grown from the original four to twelve.
One big one and twelve smaller ones tore into the mechanical garbage with full firepower, nonstop.
Pilots in the cockpits were already split into three shifts.
People paused, but the machines never stopped.
Within a one-kilometer radius of the military camp, garbage resources had been completely cleared.
The previously undulating garbage mounds had disappeared.
In their place lay flat ground and an unobstructed field of view.
Although traces of oil, coolant, and acid remained — hazardous chemical residues — the clearing eliminated opportunities for other forces or people to approach and spy.
With no mechanical debris to hide behind, anyone who appeared would be immediately captured by infrared cameras and then locked onto by the automated emplacement warning cannons tied into the joint defense system.
In fact, previously someone had tried to control packs of wild dogs to approach the camp and scout.
They never even got close before being taken out by this slick little combo.
Since then, no creature dared to leave the mechanical heaps and appear in the open.
While the Alpha was preparing battle arrangements at Dead Mine Town, all the Pioneering Group units here were under Fang's command.
When Yu Yuan entered the newly completed command center, Fang was studying something on a map.
"Fang, do you have new intel from Shadow?"
"Leader, Shadow has already traced those people to the vicinity of Shadow Vulture. They confirmed the faction spying on us are Shadow Vulture. Those uniquely modified motorcycles are Shadow Vulture's signature vehicles."
"Detection indicates the Shadow Vulture gathering includes over three hundred people. Their vehicles are distinctive — each mount has numerous weapon slots. They not only carry machine guns and rockets, but can also deploy spike strips and flames and other special weapons. They seem to have special modification technology."
Yu Yuan was surprised. "So quickly they uncovered Shadow Vulture's situation?"
Fang played a special clip.
"This was an unexpected acquisition."
"This footage was just delivered by Shadow. It recorded the entire conflict between Shadow Vulture and another force, fully captured by Shadow."
As the footage started, Yu Yuan watched.
A clearly oversized mutated wild dog leaped down from a mound of mechanical debris.
It jumped onto a spiked vehicle and began tearing into it.
The mutant dog's bite force was terrifying — its first bite tore off an armor plate from the vehicle's surface.
It then swung its paws and smashed the driver inside to pieces.
But it did not get away unscathed.
When it landed on that vehicle, the driver of the vehicle behind had already activated the attack switch.
A missile launched from the vehicle's nose. As the mutant dog finished off the driver in front, the missile struck the creature's skull.
With a boom, the mutant dog was blown apart into a headless carcass.
And that was only the beginning of the fight. At least five mutant wild dogs attacked the convoy.
The convoy had only three vehicles, so outnumbered they were wiped out without surprise.
When the footage ended, Yu Yuan had already deduced who controlled the mutant wild dogs.
No doubt, it was likely Polar Night Technology Company.
Yu Yuan had previously suspected they were connected to a cult organization.
If it had been mere suspicion before, after seeing these mutant wild dogs, Yu Yuan was now almost certain.
"Cult…"
At that moment, a message from Jiu Feng arrived.
A new batch of virus-enhanced serums is ready…
